  1. I can't imagine the FIX series making it to the U.S. anytime soon. It's geared to the adult collector market... which is still a rather misuderstood market stateside. I'm not sure retailers would understand how to market it. Maybe in a few years it might see a U.S. release... but that's pure speculation. Unless they release some Sentinel tie-in in the U.S. (doubtful) I think the only way to get the buggers'll be to continue to import 'em...
  2. Wowee-wow!!! Cool find! Man, it's always nice to see SC source material, as it seems rather rare. I always appreciated what a unique design aesthetic SC had. Love the series or hate it, it had it's own style goin' on!!! B)
  3. One of the engineers here at work forwarded this link to our Design Department; needless to say we were impressed... You have got to take a look at this new process for creating amorphous metal! It is a metal that does not “freeze” into a crystalline structure but increases it’s viscosity to harden (like glass)... allowing metal alloys to be used in manufacturing processes similar to plastics. I imagine this sort of technology, if further refined & controlled, could be employed in things like the YF-21's 'morphing' wing structure, as seen in Macross Plus. Kinda gives some scientific basis for the 'polymimetic alloy' of the T-1000 and TX from The Terminator movies, too... Heck, with Nanotech advances, this sh*t 'll make for some amazing structural possibilities! Click the “Technology” link at the top of the web page and then click the “Play Demo” video on the left hand side for a press release. It’s really amazing! Keep your eyes peeled for the armor-piercing display with a hole through a +/- 10” thick steel block!!! WOAH!!! http://www.liquidmetal.com/ This is the sort of stuff that will make today's sci-fi dreams tomorrow's reality!!! Not to mention more metal content instead of plastic in toys - cha right!!!

    vf-0?

Amazing what you can find when rootin' around on the web, eh? Looks good so far, whatever it is. Wonder if more detail will be added, tho.
  5. My original Skull Leader Joke MAchine has always held a special place in my heart
  6. I love this quote: "If we are really good, and we are, the soldier of 2025 will be as effective as the tank of 1995." - LTG Paul Kern, Military Deputy Director, 1997 While not a Landmate... yet... it's a start!!! Gotta love DARPA (the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency ): makin' the military's dreams a reality!!! Check out their Exoskeletons for Human Performance Augmentation (EHPA) Program here: http://www.darpa.mil/dso/thrust/matdev/ehpa.htm This guy did a great job of collecting exoskeletal resources! Go here... http://theblog.hypermart.net/thurstonia/ex...skeletons.shtml ...& he even zipped his reference articles here... http://theblog.hypermart.net/thurstonia/bin/EHPA.zip WIRED magazine has a preatty cool article here (Quote: "Battlefield armor is making a comeback...DARPA expects the first trials by 2005, according to its site. If the trials are successful, it will be the first appearance of battlefield armor since the 17th century.")... Misc. 7. I agree: use a wash. A thin brush & Tamiya Smoke (Clear) work great! The effect is distinct yet subtle and not as harsh as using black, & not as 'out of scale' as most Micron pens or Gundam Markers. And you can easily clean up any excess with a Q-tip & rubbing alcohol (altho, as with any solvent, TEST it on a small section of the toy/model to make sure it doesn't do... bad things to the existing paint finishes). I used this technigue on a bunch of my Gundam MSIAs and it really makes the lil' buggers look impressive...
  8. Never read that comic, but... is that 'reactive' as in chemically reactive (ie - neutralizes the Alien 'acid')... or reactive as in modern reactive (ie - explosive... blows the acid away...) tank armor? Man, I'd pity the grunt who gets to test that protype armor... walkin' around with an explosive vest...
  9. LOL!!! They must be a rare breed indeed, in all industries!
  10. Man, how much longer 'til we start seein' more advanced workable versions!!! ...like the Powerloader in Aliens... or Shirow's Landmates... Bubblegum Crisis' Hardsuits... Starship Troopers-like Power Armor.... http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...obot_technology
  11. I was always under the impression that the Alien took on certain characteristics of the host organism... hence the upright, bipedal appearance in the first 2 & the 'skull' in the first one (really, the basic head shap is close in the second, its just the dome isn't tranluescent... probably on account of budget concerns, not genetics ) ... the more dog-like, quadraped appearance in the 3rd... and the grotesque humanoid abomination of the 4 film. Altho, as for 'abominations'... that's exactly what I consider the 3rd & 4th films to be! I rationalize them the same way I do the Star Wars prequels... using good ol' fanboy denial: they never happened! LALALALALALALA, I can't hear youuuuuuu....
  12. I've really dug what I've sen of SAC... but I miss my Fuchikomas!!!
