  1. From a model comparisson photo someone made recreating the Kia Asamiya poster, the classic 1/700 Andromeda seems to be the right size. Which means the rescaled Andromeda in 1/1000 would be about the same size as the classic 1/700. That came complete with a lighting kit for the WMGs, which was activated by a Kodai & Yuki shaped switch on the base. This seems to go the same way but with more gimmicks. Hopefully, Bandai will include all the needed components in the model, instead of making us buy extra lighting gear like they did with the 1/500 and their recent Millennium Falcon.
  2. For those who haven't seen Saraba or Yamato 2... the major difference between them is (SPOILERS) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * SARABA = EVERYBODY DIES YAMATO 2 = SOME OF THEM SURVIVE Yep. Saraba was a great film but it basically ended the Yamato Saga right there. Most of the main characters die heroically in the battle and in the end Kodai, having no other way to defeat Zordar, basically rams Yamato into Zordar's dreadnought with some assistance from Teresa (why she didn't just destroy him herself is anyone's guess) When Saraba became a massive hit, they must have asked themselves "what have we done? how do we fix this so we can continue this story?". So they made a second TV series that expanded the story of Saraba but allowed Yamato and some of the main characters to go on, with Teresa taking the destruction of Zordar into her own hands. But mind you, many of the main crew still bit the dust. So even if the new series sticks closer to Yamato 2, there's going to be some tears in the final episodes. My death predictions are: - Tokugawa - They've already presented his sun, Tasuke, in 2199. He boarded Yamato alongside Chief Yamazaki in New Voyage. So this is a pretty solid bet. - Saito - Given the role he took in the destruction of Gatlantis, he's another one I don't think they will change - Yamamoto - Well... this one is not a sure thing. My guess is Shinohara (who was originally meant to be Yamamoto when 2199 entered production) will take her place and crash into Gatlantis' gate instead - Kato - Given how many other pilot characters they have, and that they brought the character back - his twin brother actually - they might let him live. Given that in this new continuity he's a married man and a father, I ache for Makoto if they decide otherwise Of course none of the original deaths might take place. This is now a very different universe from the original saga. But Yamato is known for its drama, as well as its high adventure and space battles. So, at this point, its really anyone's guess.
  3. Ever since they presented the series title and logo, the Star Blazers designation has been there. It's been said in interviews that the decision was made to replace the english bit of the 2199 logo, which read "Space Battleship Yamato" with this because that's the title with which most of the western audience knows the original.
  4. Bask in the glory of Gatlantis. First teaser trailer. Chapter 1 will premiere on February 25th 2017 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwLfcUEnQKs Also, the official page has been upgraded and features the new key art and new sections
  5. Today we saw another name announced. Akira Miyagawa is back to compose the score.
  6. Today we saw another name announced. Akira Miyagawa is back to compose the score.
  7. Nobuteru Yuuki's return as 2202's character designer is confirmed.
  8. I think it would be easier just to post the images. Why no one's done so this far is beyond me.
  9. YAMATO 2202 ~ SOLDIERS OF LOVE is coming. Official series title has been revealed and the new official site will go live at 18:00 (Japan time) on March 31st. https://www.facebook.com/CosmoDNA/posts/778796725554385
  10. Yeah, that guy has been doing some outstanding model work, both modifications and scratchbuilds, for years. His scratchbuilt Andromedas are exquisite. http://www.geocities.jp/dourakuoyadi/newpage00-1.htm Here's his current mod on the 1/1000 Lamvea (Yep, that's apparently the correct Garmillan spelling for it). http://www.geocities.jp/dourakuoyadi/newpage1000lambea-1.htm
  11. I think you mean it will be smaller than the 1/1000 version... Probably... The Yukikaze MC was slightly larger, the Murasame slightly smaller... this one might be very close to the 1/1000. Much like the other mecha collection models i've bought, i'll use it to display as a color variant.
  12. If Goran hadn't destroyed the Zoellgutt, i could see some gatlantean general using it in this form. Those extra spikes and fins make it look truly evil.
  13. Well spotted. Hadn't noticed that detail in 17. As for the assault transport, given how stuff is sized and designed in 2199, they probably redesign it in order to have it fit those hangars and still be bad ass. There's also the option of storing them in that upper deck hangar, where we see those "torpedo launches" and where they set up those funeral capsules. Now, go get your measuring tape and check if they'd fit.
  14. One of the Seaguls and the 2 T-100's were both seen stored and launched from the port hangar. We never saw where the other seagul was, since it was seen already in flight and later destroyed in episode 4.
  15. Is it that much bigger than the Seagul?. As to where to put it... we never saw the starboard hangar being used... Type-100 and Seaguls were both stored on the port side. They never showed us what's on the other side, though given the similar outer design features, we can guess it is an exact replica of the port hangar, maybe a redundancy, in case hangar 3 was taken out or suffered damage. They would have to retrieve the support craft somehow... but it is just a guess at this point.
  16. Well, there goes the neighbourhood... XD Welcome, my friend. This should get interesting...
  17. No announcment on season 2 yet. As for Ark, it will come out on May 27th. The Blu-Ray version of the movie will be shown in select theatres in late April. This is supposedly an upgraded version with some production errors (mostly caused by the production running out of time back in December) fixed, much like what they did with episodes 25 and 26 back when volume 7 came out.
  18. A small correction. There will be no storyboard booklet but the storyboards seem to be included as part of the 2nd extras disc. Perhaps in some sort of animatic form.
  19. Cheaper Blu-Ray is a single disc with the movie and 38 minutes of extras; "Midrange" price Blu-Ray is that same disc plus a 2nd disc with extras; Pricier version is the same as the midrange plus the box for the entire collection and a storyboard booklet - basically the same as the previous theatre limited editions + a box. Also, it seems this will be a limited edition and an Amazon exclusive.
  20. The model is scratchbuilt except for the use of the 1/1000 scale Core Ship. The March 15th release date is not for the model but for the Hobby Japan mook that is coming out in that date and features this and other models. As stated in the text this is a sample image from that mook. Here's the link for the HLJ page (which actually lists it as coming out this month): http://www.hlj.com/product/HBJ60954/Boo There are quite a few out there, even if you don't count the 9 program booklets that came out with each theatrical release and the Pia Mook. If you want just an comprehensive look at mecha and characters, go with the "Earth" and "Garmillas" artbooks. There is also: - "Yamato Re:Mechanics" booklet; - "Yamato Exhibit" booklet; - "SBY2199: Naoyuki Katoh ARTWORKS"; - "SBY2199: The Art of Nobuteru Yuuki", volumes 1 and 2; - the just released "SBY2199: Initial Character Design & Rough Illustration Collection"by The Man in the High Castle (Yuuki's doujinshi alias); - and the motherload that is the "SBY2199 Complete Works", a 3 hardcover volumes collection (only volumes 1 and 2 have yet been released with volume 3 coming in april). So, there's no shortage of material out there.
  21. This is part of the 2199 timeline, taking place between episodes 24 and 25. Why wouldn't it be canon?! Also, taking into account all the changes that took place during the actual series, any remake of Yamato 2 would have a radically different background, chief among them the fact that Garmillas is not totally destroyed, only rid of Desler and with Hyss and Dietz having to work out a new government (though part of that is yet to take place, in episode 25). As for the rest of those questions, and probably more, check out the movie's comprehensive synopsis we got up at ourstarblazers.com. Avoid if you don't want spoilers. http://ourstarblazers.com/vault/941/
