  1. You know... longer wrist blades, bigger cannons... what's next, cannons swinging out from under the crotch? alright.. let's get this back in line....
  2. Well, they're giving the main Predator (main character as he's referred to in the featurettes) the biggest shoulder cannon to ever grace the screen.
  3. lol... every kid outta have an "awesome uncle"... I had an awesome uncle that introduced me to Robotech (hey, this was before I knew what anime was), let me hold his Ka-Bar, Airsoft guns, taught me how to wrestle, Roman style, and also told me the greatest secret of professional wrestlin hey, compared to you old geezers I'm probably already the next generation of wussies. One year out of college. I think I grew up okay. I think the main thing about today's shows is that they're so brainless... don't stimulate kids to actually THINK for themselves. More than that, they also concentrate on so being well behaved that the individual is almost always more important than the well being of the whole. Think about The A-Team, MacGuyver... both shows taught 1) Brain Power. Okay, granted the A-Team fired off enough bullets each episode to supply a small army, but I was always amazed at how they could turn a jeep and some plating into a full blown tank, or how MacGuyver could save the world with just a paperclip and some duct tape. 2) Going all the way for people in need. MacGuyver was always saving some student in need, and the A-Team always had a weak spot for kids and the underpriveliged. Even shows like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood always taught proper values and being responsible for your actions. Anybody who broke laws in that mythical kingdom the trolley went to was always punished fairely and justly. Material comfort plays a large part, as many guys have already mentioned. Cell phones, cars, computers even. All provided by the parents, all paid for. Kids these days sit inside and frag each other in CS, drinking their bottled water. When I was a kid I ran outside, got dirty, and drank from the faucet in the parking lot, heck I even thought the water tasted better than anything else. Still, the most important part in a kid's development is the adults around him. I remember watching Rambo and the adults around me commented, not on the violence and body count, but about how John Rambo, Vietnam veteran, was just trying to live his own life, got pushed too far, and stood up for himself. Note: he's not "sticking it to the man" or "overthrowing the system". He stood up for himself. THAT was an important lesson. Later on in the movie, more than ever, he trusted the system, and went in for his comrades in II, and saved the Colonel in III. Now tell me that man isn't a role model? EDIT: Grammar, spelling, etc..
  4. drat, all this time I thought East Coast Dr. Pepper was already the best stuff on earth... gotta go and try out the *real* Dr. Pepper that the *real* men are drinking down there... Dr. Pepper seems to be doing stuff like this lately... I remember their Spider-Man cans back when the movie came out. and I thought EVA UCC coffee cans and AMG phone cards would never catch on in the states... You know, for some reason I can't imagine Coke or Pepsi doing this...
  5. huh... well, if the skull was in the movie, then it's canon enough for me I was wondering about those teeth... cause if you look at the helmet right next to the view area... we see a rather dull, plain helmet... throughout the rest of the trailer, we see dull, plain helmets.... the only time it resurfaces is towards the end of the trailer, doing the *shink* with his wrist blades. Given that in Predator lore, each helmet is unique to each individual predator... does this mean more than one predator, or is it some of that liquid metal armor coming into play? err... basing all this on the manual from AVP again... so might not be canon addendum: just watched all the other featurettes... yes! a, and I quote, "a whole hunting clan of predators." unquote. woot!!! I guess this is only news to me...
  6. I heard there were no more ZOE games planned due to abyssmal sales... dunno if it's true though.
  7. Are PredAliens canon? Saw them a lot in the two AVP games... and from what I gather, the two AVP games didn't deviate much from canon material... or I could just be speaking out of my $#()* again... oh, btw... I was thinking about Call when talking about Ash... arrrgg....
  8. huh... I smell sequel material here.... first they show Weyland in the first AVP, then comes AVP2 a few years later with Yutani... nah.... can't imagine an "Ash" figure being influential in the formation of Weyland-Yutani... Then again... Ash came waaaaaay after Bishop.. maybe by then android design was rethought and they went with mutiple varities of skins? After all, Ash was a next-gen android in the movie...
  9. I hope those weren't the best parts of the film spliced together, cause it looks pretty good... Any idea if the Predator is gonna be the good ol man-in-the-rubber suit version or a new and highly enhanced CG copy? The overall Predator design certainly seems to look better and darker than the first two. Now all I need to see is the good ol shoulder caster laser targeting device... and the throwing disc... and the cloak effects... awe forget it, I just want this movie to rock.
  10. Any idea who did the mech design? Some elements look almost Nagano-ish... but it's a tad too blocky to be a Nagano mech... Reminds me a bit of Armored Core mechs though, dunno why...
  11. Wow.. that dude can hardly hold the gun up for a shot, much less hit anything... yep, Brandon Heat is superhuman after all... Slight nitpick... I was under the impression that the entire lower portion of the guns were where the ammo went... I remember seeing once Brandon actually taking the magazine off and then loading it with a fresh one.
  12. Before this... they attached metal plates to the props.. and let the bullets bouce off the plating....
  13. Okay... now that's gotta be a Japanese Warhammer player's army... tell me it is so... cause I can't think of any Warhammer players I know doing anything as "unmanly" as that...
  14. Finally caught the last episode.... very good finale for the whole run... although not totally unexpected, since you get not-very-subtle hints about how the whole thing goes down. mm... $50? Doesn't sound too bad... (remember, talking anime toys here, all you crazies with your 1/48 VF-1s =) I need something to keep my Black Knight Gatsu company on the shelf.... Anybody ever buy from explosion-toys.com? they seem to have the figure in stock... the site looks pretty good, not sure if they're reputable though.
  15. Okay... you just made me WANT one... one of the best 2D image -> 3D sculpt transfers I've ever seen.... anybody know anyplace online that still carries this figure? Gungrave doesn't seem popular to start with...
  16. I think Brandon Heat = Luca Brasi from The Godfather... quiet, very quiet, and really believes in what he's doing... If you hated Shinji's teen angst, Brandon Heat's cool decisivness will be very refreshing.
  17. I'm still waiting for that last episode to be released subbed, grrr..... The entire anime oozes style, simple as that, although IMHO the animation hits a sort of low somewhere in the middle... the first episode and the last few ones were outstanding though. I think if one liked Trigun, Gungrave would come across as a very good successor... duh, they're both made by the same production team... Is the game worth shelling out the $$ for? I've been told it's rather like ZOE2... "cool!!" but too short and wears thin after a while. Still debating whether or not to buy it... EDIT: Anybody actually have the action figure? I wanted to get it but somehow always put it off... it looked like a VERY faithful representation of Beyond the Grave.
  18. In hopes of throwing a monkey wrench into this whole naming scheme... How does that differentiate between the DYRL version and the TV version?
  19. Okay... that was as much a vid of guys with amazingly long lenses as it was about the Super Flanker... but very cool nonetheless.... Question though: Nice to see what THEY have... but what do WE have, and can what WE have do it better?
  20. The Brunhield from Legend of the Galactic Heroes Also the Warlock class from Babylon 5.
  21. I was just looking up at the title on my browser window... and it struck me... assuming Shawn and Graham don't object....... MacrossWorld!! yeah baby!!! err.. you know, Macross.. + Homeworld...? From there, we can do: MW: DYRL, MW: Flashback 2012, MW: Plus... Alright, it's getting late... signs of sleep depreviation are beginning to show...
  22. not really, the game generates enemies for the next level based on what you have left, just enough to beat you, basically, if you have all one type of ships, the computer will have ships that beat that. if you have a decent well-balanced fleet, you should be able to beat the computer. or you can retire all your ships and the end of each level, and have a bunch in the queue ready to be built. ------ Homeworld 2 Plus or Homeworld 2+2 Lovers again Well.. it's still largely based on numbers... go in with 2 HCs and 4 Destroyers, and you'll be up against 6 HCs, 20+ Destroyers, hundreds of bombers, fighters, frigates, etc.... Go in with 1 HC... or god forgid, no cap ships, and at most you'll see 1 HC, and MAYBE 1 or 2 Destroyers. I dunno, but I had a hell of a better time against 1 HC compared to 6 HC + 20 Destroyers.... oh, my two cents: HW2: DYRL (keep it simple, leaves space for future additions... like... HW2: Mac Plus, HW2: Mac 7..... maybe even HW2: Flashback :-p)
  23. In the X-Wing games, the B-Wing was faster, tougher, and had more firepower than the Y-Wing. As for the wing rotating around the cockpit, it really did not seem any more complex than the X-Wing spreading it's wings. The fuselage rotates down, and the two smaller wings spread out. Certainly far and away less complex than everyone's favourite transforming fighters. The fuselage doesn't only rotate down... it rotates around you as you fly. The Star Wars ship guide also presents an idea of what would happen if your gyro were ever to malfunction. Imagine trying to land with your foil stuck in a perpendicular position to the horizon... Later on they installed backup gyros, so I think it became less of a problem. Addendum: The B-Wings don't rotate in the game due to game engine limitations.
  24. I'd love something like that. How big of fleets can Homeworld handle? Homeworld 1: In theory... limitless. Just take a look at the Great Galactic Core mission.... all those ion frigates, mmm..... In practice, about as far as your eye can see in "Parade" formation. After that, ships start having problems getting into place, and you end up never proceeding into the next stage (you can't warp). Better bet with Homeworld 2... but there's no incentive to have a large fleet... since you're always up against a fleet that has more ships...
  25. It would seem we're also moving on to starships now... if that's the case.. the Warlock class from B5
