  1. careful....EXO says nice box and I expect a montage of "I'd hit it" graphics to pop up.
  2. Still trying to figure out how 6 was there, and then gone...or was she...or what???
  3. I'd be down with either the VF-1D or the VT-1 Super O. An Elint would be a distant third for me as well. Ultimately, I don't care what we make, as long as we get some dang two seater Valks!! Sold! Super O with Minmei and Rick it is!
  4. Man oh man...thats cool...but seriously...since the Capn's time is so scarce....I'd like to suggest we aim higher...how about a VT1 or VE? I'd like a VF1D...but I would LOVE a 1/48 VT1...maybe we could even get John to sculpt a Minmei figure to go with it?!?! Come on now...how cool would that be?!?!?! Then...with that done doing a VF1D would be easy...and the VE a someday. Please please please???? I mean, truly its a great idea...and I'm in in a heartbeat...but for the VT...well..thats the grail for me.
  5. So...I got back into modeling after a 20 year hiatus about 3 years ago. When I did I started with an IMAI Blowsperrior (which I have recently noted was a cursed model) I was amazed that it was engineered to be variable. How cool I thought. I spent my youth building fighter planes mainly... (and some star wars) and was amazed at the intricacy. 3 years later, I have just recently purchased a SHE VF5000...and I'm wondering how much I really like variable kits. In their idea, they are wonderful. I can build the thing with real engineering and show it in any mode. In reality, it would seem they are fragile, and will be quickly worn if transformed any amount of times. I can already envision the paint that will scratch off, the model flopping forward off a stand, and any other # of problems..... which leads to this topic...thoughts on models...variable or not. I think I have decided I like non-variable, and will most likely build my SHE static. Anyone?
  6. Not to mention those old Imai models weren't the best for fit either, it was like they had two separate people make the two halves of the same part. I didn't think about the tired thing, I don't think I was tired when I was building mine probably rushing or not paying enough attention cuz I'd built several of these already. No doubt...tons of putty and sanding to remove the darn seam lines. (and no good guide pins either! )
  7. I had this happen with an IMAI Blowsperrior. It seemed like everything went wrong. It was variable...which made it worse...but I kept misreading things and putting on parts wrong, only to have to break it to fix it. I did a touch up paint job on the back, and it fell onto the floor...into sawdust....back to the drawing board...etc. The caper for me was I was tired, (after several other mistakes) cutting some glue free and the xacto slipped and cut deep into my hand. I put it down (ignored the blood stains) and I have not had the courage to pick it up to finish it since.
  8. Yeah, no surprises there. If the gods favour us, someone going to WonderFest will spot something new , but I'm not going to get my hopes up. I think we're in for a dry spell, model-wise. Mind you, I'll probably pick up one of the three-heads-in-one kits... watching the new "Battlestar Galactica" has got me hankerin' to do a VF-1A in a Viper-style paint scheme. If you do, would you please scan it for me? I don't think Ill be getting it, but I'd like one up in the models section.
  9. new box art and 3 heads in one....woowhoo.
  10. As a whole 1/60 is way more complete right now, and also more easily priced. I'd say do 1/60...and if it sells well to a 1/48 perfect version.
  11. Thanks Valk! Thanks to everyone out there who is helping on this. A number of folks have volunteered to scan some stuff. I'm wrapping up the conversion links and scanning Hasegawa stuff...this whole thing is going to take a while, but I'm excitied about it!
  12. as always, very nice cg work.
  13. You may want to PM Monkey Nugget. He was the last person I knew to have access to a kit.
  14. The best service I ever used though was Monkey Nuggets. His fees were consistent and fair. He would bulk ship items, and only charged what he was charged for shipping. He was very responsive, helpful, and updated me all the time. Sadly, he is not doing it anymore because some folks took advantage of his generosity. Too bad... In other news...I'm hoping to get new root sections up for the models page this week. They will simply be new front pages with all the same content behind the links, but it's the first big step I need to do. Then, I will start redesigning the model manufacturer pages 1 at a time and working them through in that fashion. I'm starting on Hasegawa and spent a lot of time scanning my kits this weekend. I'm hoping everyone will provide feedback as the new sections come up. We are trying lots of new things and I'd like to hear what you like and don't like. Also, check out the Hobby Japan update listed in the updates section...I think the variable Hasegawa YF19 is amazing!
  15. Celga is giving out a few accounts to bidders. You tie your credit card to the account and they turn over full use to you. You still pay fees, but can bid as you want.
  16. There are bidding services like Celga, and there are Yahoo Japan sellers who will sell outside of Japan. Your best bet to start is to search the auctions section. There have been numerous posts on this over the years.
  17. Awesome Carl! Can I use these pictures for the new models section?
  18. Sent a note...thanks! Sounds awesome!
  19. Thanks Ranger565. Great news. Ill PM you my email. Just start scanning stuff and sending me pics and list what your covering here. Thanks!
  20. Is not another WF only company? Any chance you could post a pic of their kit?
  21. Ill explore around some. I have a lot of pictures...I just need to go through and recognize them. Seiichi just mentioned another kit manufacturer. Fuhmon-VF-koubou I'd never heard of them...they might just fall in the WF catagory.
  22. shhhh...don't disturb him...he's working on Komilla!
