  1. Until I get official scripts/materials, I can't really say myself that it runs on a nuclear reactor. I don't recall them saying nuclear at all in the eps so far. There is one line that might be misheard to be so but I'm pretty sure it was "kakubu" as in "All departments" or "All systems"
  2. No reason needed when you don't want to ruin that body!
  3. It's a selling point and actually a part of her appeal. She mentions it in ep 5. Interesting to notice that the translator for gattai noted the hanamichi thing. While it is relevant to kabuki, I just simply translated in a way that gets the meaning across and works in English. I think I did "It's your show now!" or something.
  4. Ergh, I'm looking at the lyrics for Don't Be late and they like make no sense at all when you try and interpret the meaning of the song. =|
  5. But it sounds so pervy if you're translating it straight. Oh and I figured out what that darn technology does that I was having problems with. >=O
  6. It's an Indian name, that's all. I'm fairly sure her nickname is just "Ginga no Yousei." She's referred to as an utahime (Songstress) though by Nanase, I believe. It's an interesting bit though. The Japanese have a tendency to say a word one way but mean a different thing when they write it. I can't cite any examples off the top of my head but it's an occurrence you'll see in manga more often than anime. Anyway, there's some odd tech in this episode. I'm not quite sure as to what it does or how to properly translate the name, heh. Leave it to the Japanese to make up some crazy stuff as always. Also, gotta love the Japanese penchant for saying things that are a bit aimless or can be misinterpreted. Ozma's line to Alto in this episode before they engage is amusing in that regard.
  7. I went with Birla for the cultural connection to the Vajra after I corrected my mistake in the first ep, heh.
  8. Who knows. I went with the 20th because I did a similar thing in the Deculture and Broadcast Edition of ep 1. Sheryl is referred to as a "Ginga no Yousei" (Fairy literally, but Nymph might be more appropriate?) in the dialogue but I translated it as Galactic Songstress (which is usually utahime in Japanese). Why? The posters you see Ranka run by in the ep bill Sheryl as Songstress of the Galaxy. The case for that is a bit better though.
  9. I've been posting in the episode threads. I don't really post elsewhere. Fairly typical of my posting habits.
  10. Animation complaints aside, there is one production thing I'm kind of dissatisfied with in the show. The audio mixing is really typical for a Japanese anime/game. The music and effects are too loud and overshadow the vocals far too often. It's extremely annoying when I want to hear the lyrics or the dialogue and not the sound of gunfire or a guitar. It's even doubly worse for me because it makes it harder to translate. =|
  11. I noticed that inconsistency, I pointed it out in my notes (not that anyone reads them anyway) on the forum as well. Went with 20 anyway because it's visible in the animation. It's likely an animation flub but who knows, a VA flubbing the line wouldn't be new either. Considering Catherine's supposed age, it's probably 12th (would make more sense if she was in her mid-twenties considering her position/attitude).
  12. Ah. Vincent most be running out of things to do then, lol. Wish I could access share/winny so I could get these files myself but I'm firewalled, bleh.
  13. Shinsen doesn't really release raws as far as I know. It's likely someone just piggybacking on them because they're famous within the community and/or using their names as a joke. For example, someone combined my script for the Deculture Edition with some of Shinsen's work on it and titled the file "Shinsen-in-Action" awhile ago but I highly doubt it was Shinsen themselves. Anyway, good episode. The show really is piggybacking on everything Macross so far though. The action is definitely topnotch but there are too many songs at times. =|
  14. Yeah, I don't think it'll even be as large as the Fleet's main battleship. Going by relative size, the Quarter seems a lot smaller than something that would be the lead cruiser for a colonization fleet.
  15. I don't think so. I've always seen UN Spacy myself and it wasn't until Frontier that I heard mentions of NUNS. It's been awhile since I've seen Macross 7 though and they may have mentioned them as NUNS instead of UNS, in English I mean.
  16. Animation will also be improved for the DVD release anyway, at least I assume it will. Most series are fairly rushed and have animation gaffes, even the top-notch ones.
  17. Technically, it's been NUNS since the end of the first Space War, as far as I can gather from the Japanese wiki. Basically, the old UN Spacy is the group prior and during the first Space War, after it occurs, it's reformed and its first Commander in Chief is Bruno J Global. The JP wiki entry on the First Space War mentions it and the Macross Terminology entry mentions this change over after the war as well.
  18. You know, if I'm hearing it right (just got to this part on the script) then: It's kind of hard to tell with the music and the radio filter they added to the VA lines but I think that's what they're saying. I'm probably hearing it wrong though.
  19. On another note, hippo pajamas!? HIPPO PAJAMAS!? Really now!? =|
  20. Pretty solid episode for what it is, a build-up. It doesn't do too much really but it does give a little bit of insight to Sheryl.
  21. mmm html, always hate the aftertaste of CSS.
  22. Reads like a bad fanfic! Really though, a lot of Mac7 reads like a bad fanfic (it's my #1 favorite series ever, but even I recognize how poorly written the show is) so it's not surprising but I was just expecting them to write the backstory while avoiding that gaffe.
  23. I'd probably use Nome too because there's precedent for it.
  24. Yeah, then there's this. I wish these people would make up their mind. Or at least higher someone to make sure it's consistent, they use so much English in anime nowadays. =| http://file.isin.blog.shinobi.jp/903389c1.jpeg Oh, definitely. I did say it'd be a bit of what I thought.
