  1. At the risk of getting into another round of speculation furor, I think the VF-25 does not lack internally stored ordinance. Gilliam fires two missiles at the Varja before it kills him, and after dumping his packs. This, is of course, what I think, but I've been modeling the VF-25, and I've been combing the net and the raws for images of the legs. There appears to be a single micro-missile exit port on the outside of each leg at the knee joint.

Of course, it could be that the production team simply thought explosions would really cool at that point.

Thats just the point. It is quite possible that the production team thought that it was a good moment to have the VF-25 appear firing missiles, regardless of how many missiles it can carry. There is no point in getting too worked up about it, even "hard" SF has to struggle to be "realistic". Ultimately, in SF, there will always be some magic.

  2. anyone else so darn excited that the next episode could give an explanation as to the true nature of the Vajra? (if Ozma stays true to his word about telling alto about their true nature). i mean, Ozma said something like, "once you know, there's no turning back." was that just a standard one-liner, or is the secret about the vajra really that unbelievable, i wonder? :)

It is a pretty big buildup for their origins/motives. It had better be good.

  3. I guess that there is always scope for things like this, but since there is such a small amount of Macross compared to Gundam (how many episodes of that exist), I think that most people would be interested in seeing Macross stories that further the main plot.

  4. There was an early Robot Chicken sketch with a celebrity race that pretty much summed up what this movie should be like.....

I would post the link from Youtube for those who have not seen it, but the Facist policies of Youtube means that most Robot Chicken stuff is deleted.

  5. This is a blindingly obvious statement, and I know that there are plenty of Macross 7 fans out there, but the people who dislike Macross 7 clearly do so VERY passionately and for some (no names mentioned, you know who you are), it would seem that they actually derive some sort of enjoyment out of hating Macross 7 and a certain major character in the series.

Now, since I have never had the opportunity to see it, I have to ask.

    Is it really that bad??

  6. Unlike some cutesy girls in anime, I don't think Ranka could ever annoy me. She's just cute in the right ways. ^_^

I think that with Ranka they get the right balance between "cute" and "troubled past" to make her an interesting character. Otherwise she would be annoying.

Also, I don't think that Gilliam was dumped in water or the colony's food supply. I think that he may have been dumped into the liquid they use to create clones and/or to resize Zentradi. A substance that may be like the LCL on Evangelion. Just my theory anyway.

I was also wondering, does anybody have any idea of what percentage of the "human" population in the Macross Universe ARE clones. I think that clones would have been required to help fill the colony ships.

  7. I agree! Worth saying twice. The music is really getting my blood going when I watch the action sequences. Fantastic work. Reminds me of the rich score for Macross Plus.

You really stole my thunder there, but it is absolutely true. I am really reminded myself of the Macross Plus soundtrack. The combination of fantastic orchestral music and cool jpop works really well. Since there will be a lot more Frontier than Mac+ we should hopefully get to hear lots of other cool stuff too.

Even Triangular has grown on me.
