He's just a character dude, so therefore not real, so who cares?
I am sure that there are plenty of idiots worse than him in reality anyway.

Mao had her blood mixed with the Birdman/Birdhuman (what is the official name for this device), so I think that that genetic link will be what the "Bugs" are after. Mind you, it did seem to be zeroing in on Lanka as well. Maybe they just like young girls. ; )

Don't forget naming Megatron's gun Leader-1 in Armada!
I think that was just spiteful.
Okay, we get it. Transformers won. No need to go dragging the GoBots through the mud like that(It doesn't hurt that I absolutely LOVED my Super GoBots Leader-1).
THAT is funny, I never knew that they did that! I double checked on Wikipedia and sure enough.....
"Megatron/Galvatron transformed into a tank and was partnered with the Mini-Con, Leader-1 (when upgraded to Galvatron, the American toy renamed the repainted Leader-1 Clench, treating him as a new character)."
Really, really funny, thanks for that....

At last, confirmation that this movie actually existed! It's not some disturbing figment of my imagination, I feel better now. Actually, I think my Dad actually paid to get me and the brother in to see that - good thing movies were cheap back then. Didn't it have some actual big names doing the voices?
You want confirmation? Its not that difficult to find:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GoBots:_Battl..._the_Rock_Lords
And get ready for the kinda b-grade BIG names doing the voices -
"These new characters featured the guest voices of Margot Kidder, Telly Savalas and Roddy McDowall."
Hope that helps you out.

When I was young and stupid we got free tickets to see "GoBots: Battle of the Rock Lords" at a local cinema in Australia.
I was ready to run out of the theatre, screaming "OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!"

Of course the "Lets rubbish Robotech" line is popular in these forums. And there is a lot of validity in criticising a program that was a bastardised version of three different anime. (four if you count megazone)
BUT, (and I know that this has been argued before), without Robotech there simply would not be the Macross fanbase that there is now in the West, and that would have been really unfortunate. And for the simple fact that my life is certainly better and more enriched as a result of my being a Macross fan, I will always appreciate the fact that Robotech was created.
(I am not trying to unleash the fury of the Anti-Robotech crowd and I am not trying to say that I am a flag waving Robotech fan now, I am just stating my viewpoint).

It would be nice if the Regult was properly to scale, ie, a lot larger than the valkyrie.

Put simply, Dune has already been done. Twice. Both efforts failed to impress most people. What are they going to try to do differently that will make this version "work".
Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy most of Lynch's work in his effort, but is it really too much to ask for the producers to spend their money instead on a more original project? There are thousands of popular works of fiction out there that could be adapted instead or maybe some writers could be hired and a completely original work created.
Remakes are really getting tedious, look at this one.....

More originality from Hollywood, please?

Was Gilliam really cannon fodder though? Thats the main reason why he was left out but he can be included in Volume 3.

We need obscure/fleeting designs/characters in anime AND SF in general.
Look at the bounty hunters in Empire Strikes Back. Just by seeing these characters for a FEW SECONDS in the movie (except for Mr Fett of course), fan fiction writers have managed to pad out the entire careers of these guys.
We love this sort of stuff. Speculation, wondering about filling in the gaps, explaining things that the filmmakers and writers could not be bothered doing.

Lesson Number Three: Always trust Centauri...
This would be a major problem with any further Starfighter films. Robert Preston and Daniel O'Herlihy brought bucketloads of charisma and heart to the original film straight from the Hollywood and stage oldschool. Their deaths mean that there would be a hole in any attempted sequel that would be really hard to fill.
Good luck to the producers if they do attempt a new film.

The most prophetic sci-fi films
in Anime or Science Fiction
Posted · Edited by taksraven
As much as I love most of the movies that have been mentioned so far, I hate to say but most
of them are just "bubblegum" pics. Not B-Grade but certainly taking an easier and more
superficial view of the world.
I think that the most prophetic films are often more literary ones. And quite often they
have taken as much "Science" out of the Science Fiction as possible.
Lets see, a prophetic Sci-Fi film about our world. With the world in which we now existing
in a constant state of war against a virtually unseen enemy. An enemy with a leader who
cannot be tracked down but still uses various media to taunt us. Even though we are not
sure if he is alive or dead.
With governments and business encouraging us to blindly follow. Where voices of dissent are
considered to be the enemy?
A world in which we are constantly being monitored (and watched) by CCTV cameras.
A world in which the language is being corrupted, shortened and simplified to such an extent
that it is often unrecognisable to older generations.
A world in which living standards are falling for many, but the leaders tell us that we have
never had it better.
A world in which Big Brother is very popular.
In other words.
Nineteen Eighty-Four
Filmed several times and one of the greatest works of literature ever.
George Orwell was a true visionary. And to think that the book was really about 1948.
