and as for post SWI earth, I kind of have a feeling that it's not a dead wasteland of a planet full of disenfranchised and bitter people. I mean that really doesn't sound like macross to me. Maybe in the 2020's or something when it's eminently after the war and people are still rebuilding, but by the 2050's or so I doubt that would be the case.

In 2040 (Macross Plus) several desert littered with crater are still exist on Earth.

And for the next Macross, by taking the Macross element into account (idol singer, music, valk, triangle) a boy band consisting of valk ace pilot, who competing for their female manager......

Which is why, at the moment, I'm leaning towards the contamination of soil post irradiation (sterilization) of the Earth's surface (which, BTW, has nothing to do with damage to the atmosphere. It's a natural process due to the exposure of the seabed to the elements (mostly wind).)

Though, having brought up the mutant fish, I'm curious to see (in a future Macross production) if the oceans of Earth were effected. The mutant fish implies that life near the surface was effected, but not enough to kill everything. What about the depths? Were they even effected (aside from increased amounts of sediment)?

Hmm, where does the radiation came from? It can be from nuclear/reaction weapons since Zentraedi doesn't use them and AFAIK super converging beam cannons on zentran warship doesn't produce radiations.

IMO, if the surface is heavily bombarded, then the ocean would evaporate away and assuming the atmosphere didn't boil and lost from the planet, then Earth would be covered by thick chemical clouds from the surface evaporation.

Macross drop is not big enough, make it mobile fortress drop or a satellite factory drop and then we can count how many VF and singing idol it would take to push it back into orbit.

Talking about sizes, I think this could be an important fact, both Fulb Berrent fortress was destroyed by nuking its command center (By Macross M3 in SDFM, and by Hikaru M3 in DYRL). And probably all those SSD will suffer the same with the exposed command center.

VF hit a lot of things on the head in my opinion. Transformers never really was the pinnacle of story telling. For the most part (Beast Wars/Machines excluded) it was a basic story set there for good awesome robots to fight evil awesome robots. Transformers has done a lot worse than the live action films. Most of the animated series that came after Beast Wars/Machines sucked pretty royally across the board. Though animated has done a good job in making up for that.

Transformers has dozens of different incarnations. I don't see why people have such a difficult time accepting this into the fold. As someone who grew up on Transformers, I can honestly say I loved the first movie and will probably love the two that follow. Seeing Optimus duke it out with Megatron on an IMAX screen is awesome no matter if they are hyper complex "realistic" versions or blocky old school ones.

Transformer is about the look of the robot and its gimmick, then to make toys for us to collect. Who cares about the story telling or Megan Fox.......

One of the places where we could get the stamps was the local Famima. One guy (bowl hair-cut? Check) had something like five posters. Which kinda p@#&es me off coz that just denies other people the chance to get the opportunity to.......and so on. Obviously his intent. He should be thinking WWHD (What would Hikaru do?).
