My choice goes to the Free Planet Alliance from the "Legend of Galactic Heroes".

They`ve attack this space fortress known as Iserlohn fortress for 30 years (6 times) and got kicked very hard with casualties numbering in millions. (BTW, the Iserlohn got only 15,000 ship in their defensive fleet not including the Iserlohn anti-fleet weapon "Thor Hammer").

The funny thing is, during the 7th assault, they managed to capture Iserlohn with only a ragtag fleet with half the size of normal fleet, and without any casualties.

Finally, they move into offensive by attacking the Galactic Empire with over 32 million soldiers in 8 fleets, only to be routed back (after capturing 200 star system which later abandoned by them), and lost 2/3 of its forces.

A very dumb suicide military? or a very cunning commanders?

I say a dumb FPA commanders and a brilliant Empire Admiral

I just realized this footage when I slow it down a couple of frames.

Its a Zentran ship, just before being vaporized by Breetai command-ship.

I think it`s some sort of defense ship or something like that , since Breetai destroyed it so the Macross could fly through directly to Bodolza command room.

Suggestion anyone?

I believe the Zentraedi monitor is the Zentraedi cannon-ship (or the medium-scale gun destroyer as Nanashi said).

I believe that monitor is some kind of ship designation.

From Wikipedia I found this:

"The monitor as a class of warship reappeared in a rather different form during the First World War as a flat bottomed sea-going barge equipped with battleship-sized guns and intended for bombardment of the enemy coast. Several of these ships were still in existence, and a few more were built, to play a part in the Second World War."

The Zentraedi ship mentioned above fit perfectly into the above classification, replacing coast with planetary surface . Maybe the monitor designation came from the Robotech community, since they used it many times, just like when they called the Macross Buster Cannon as Reflex Cannon

Ok, maybe I`ll go for the design concept, is much more meaner compare to the one in M3.

If the VF-14 is later incorporated into the Varauta valks, shouldn`t Max as the Mac 7 fleet commander realized that the Varauta had connection with the UN? Since he DID fly the VF-14 before, sure he should remember one thing or two when he encountered the varauta valks.

Max:" Hey they stole my old valk.........?"

Stupid question here, where can I find Mac 7 plus spiritia dreaming?

As I recall, they did have the chance of escaping, however Misa insisted they first jammed the ship sensor/communication system first (the Macross went blind earlier). Maybe Max cutting a hole with his valk laser head is to hotwire some circuit to do some internal system damage.

And then again, if they didn`t escape, they would never had a chance to introduce direct culture shock to Bodolza

I believe the scale 1/100, need cement and paint to work with, to wm cheng, please show us more of your great technique in making up those valks

Hi there, I`m planning to buy 1/72 Hasegawa YF-21 kit next month, Althought the original blue painting looks great, I wanna a different color scheme for this one, anyone has a suggestion ?

BTW, could someone post a BW sketch of the YF-21 so I could paint them in my computer before I applied it for the real thing ?

As far I can see in the series, the valks were faced with overwhelming regults, but I think valks pilot are better trained than the Zentrans (They are engineered for combat, in other words expendable).

SDF-1 and the valks only starting to giving away nukes during the end of SW1, maybe after they returned to Earth where the got fresh supplies (food and nukes ). However when the SDF-1 are returning from Pluto, its greatly relies on her main guns for attack and defense (I didn't see any valks triumphs over Zentrans capship, while the SDF-1 manage to wipe out a small flotila in single strike ). The valks surely did a great job dealing with the enemy battlepods, except for Miriya Quadluun Rau

Few thing that I concluded from SW1 is :

- Culture shock works best against hostile alien, thus Basara are born

- Valks proves its superiority against other mecha, including destroid

- Wanna take out a large enemy fleet ? Try transformation

- Beer and alcohol has no effect on aces

Well quess the entire Mac 5 fleet were obliterated on ground, since if they had left any ships in orbit the wreckage would be detected pretty soon by Mac 7 fleet right.

I agree that it was a dumb idea, but I think the Macross 5 fleet was forced to the ground much like the Macross 7 fleet. The message was probable sent before they landed or before the rest of the fleet was ambushed and forced to the ground

I think the varauta didn't force the mac 5 fleet to land since in the clip I saw, when the Mac 5 fleet touched down on the planet, there's no enemy fire firing down on them. One other reason which I just found out why the mac 5 fleet was destroyed is that they didn't have a lunatic pilot singing in a middle of a battle while Mac 7 fleet have Basara as their secret weapon

Hi there, last night I watched Mac 7 in the episode when Macross 5 fleet landed on planet Rax. As I can see, nearly ALL the ships including the escort ships landed on the planet hence leaving the fleet virtually unprotected from incoming enemy fleet from space.

As far as I know, before someone could actually land on a planet to start colonizing it, would it be best to send scouting party first rather than dropping an entire colonist on it ?

Since most Mac colony fleet are accompanied by warships such as the Macross itself, I think it would be wise to send only the colony ships to the surface while leaving the command ship and several escorts at space.

Or maybe the colonist think 'hey let's make another Macross City here, made the Macross transform and put it into a lake or something' Now that would be stupidly cool

Well I don't know for sure about this, but I can only say one thing, the destruction of Macross 5 fleet are caused by poor colonization planning, and partly, Max fault (He know the Varauta threats, yet he didn't warn Mac 5 fleet about it, instead he offerred Fire Bomber ????)

My GF borrowed Escaflowne from me, and I 'accidentally' slipped Macross Plus in it. Turned out that she likes Mac+ and got hooked with voices

I'll try inviting her when I'll re-watch the whole macross-7 series, any idea which episodes I should start since the first few episodes are quite 'boring'

I played maniac level, I'm using VF-19 during the last stages. I was damn hard, I failed operation 'Mary Poppins' and 'Remember Love' several times, gotta beat those pesky Ghosts only to face the enemy aces in VF-22 and VF-19. Sometimes I feel lucky that I ever completed those missions

If only I could use full armour VF-11, it maybe another story, untill then....

BTW, anyone know why Aegis missile barrage to Macross 13 bridge wasn't nullified by the jammers ? As I recall, the fleet missiles attack were jammed right ?

The VF-0 looks great to me, technologically superior ? Maybe, consider it was in limited production at that time, The VF-1 in the original series was the mass produced one, so maybe it got some gadgets removed in order to made them cheaper for mass producing purposes.

One question, the VF-1 could reach space under it's own power in TV series episode-3, while the VF-0 being a test bed for the thermonuclear turbines, I quess the VF-0 are limited to atmospheric use then

The FAST pack......did the VF-0 has any FAST pack ? Or maybe a Full Armor variant ? B) That would be great
