Starting to watch and old anime "Lost Universe" on a streaming site. How come no one ever told me about this series before, it got a protagonist which are a hybrid between Lina Inverse and Gourry Gabriev, including a maid-ship brain-hologram which are voiced by Megumi Hayashibara, not to mention the ship is a something like a mixture of Sol Bianca with anything from Slayer Universe.

Also, I got a total WTF moment with the latest Sora Kake Girl episode, Sunrise have gone wacky this time.

Will pass. Mecha with car bodies wearing oversize sneakers do absolutely nothing for me.

As others have said, let's hope Kawamori gets this silliness out of his system before working on the next new Macross project.

Well, as long it got buttons like"Save the world" or "Blow up the world", I'm in. MegasXLR got a car as a head, but it was ten time more destructive than berserk EVA-01.

I don't think sword based melee weapon will be introduced in Macross, however we do have a plasma spear in Metal Siren. Variable fighter, IMO, is not a close-combat-mecha, it relies on speed and maneuverability. Sometimes we do have melee combat such as YF-19 vs YF-21 and the VF-25 vs Lobster knife fight is shown just to tell the audience that the lobster is nearly immune to gunpod/missile but not immortal as a knife could take it out.

BTW, SMS Macross Quarter does have a PPB-Sword on the tip of its Macross Cannon when they sliced Battle Galaxy in epi.25

Its funny that all the robot-goes-rampage thing always started with a robot/A.I./Super Computer becoming sentient and in order to protect itself, practically wipes out humanity. This has been depicted in Matrix (with B1666ER), Terminator (SkyNet), SAAB (Silicate wars), and other.

So to avoid having a robot triggered Armageddon, just do the simple thing, put a limit on robot A.I.

I'm a little dissapointed that the show seems to be slowly moving towards combat. I was hoping that I'd finally picked up on a mecha anime that didn't involve war or revolution. At least Rin's not the typical mecha kid. She doesn't seem to be arrogant, or emo.

Yamato now needs to make some Zentraedi vessels to the same scale as the 1/2000 SDF-1 to put things over the top for Macross fans.

An oversize pickles would do, they are relatively cheap and makes great exploding effect when you perform ARMD punch

Don't do the Hare-Hare Yukai dance, although it's popular the dance movement is very complex. The Nyan-Nyan dance is much more simpler, I recommended you to try that first.

This really should go in this thread instead of the Frontier tech one, so I'll answer it here, or at least the second. The Macross was badly damaged in Kamjin's suicide run, but not completely destroyed. Macross Plus also takes place a good thirty years later. By then they'd completely rebuilt it, including numerous refits and replacing the old naval vessels with ARMD units like it had originally been planned to have docked at its sides. I suppose there wasn't much practical reason to keep it fully armed and combat ready when Earth had a lot of other defenses by then, but as a central symbol of the new government and one that had come under attack before, it's not a nonsensical thought to have it remain a functional warship.

But the SDF-1 (as a UNS/NUNS HQ) is heavily armed, in M:Plus it was armed with hundred of AA cannon and maybe the main gun are still functional.

Talking about SDF-1 as UN HQ, I got a question. In M:Plus, the Ghost is seen launched from the lake by using an entry vehicle, so does this mean there's a bigger base underneath the lake?

What I wanted is a collection of all the Macross class ship just like the Yamato Mechanical Collection. They can offered many variation like SDF-1 cruiser/attacker, Battle-7 cruiser/attacker, etc and also a hidden one (Megaroad-1).

Darn, I would love a Macross Mechanical Collection, it would stand perfectly along my LoGH minis.
