  1. Thanks Keith. I may as well stick with my Manga VHS tape then. I don't believe I have a region free player. Maybe my 360 would play a R2 DVD? I'll have to look into that. Edit: I just checked the XBox site...so much for that idea.
  2. I've been ignoring this thread for some time...just finished reading through it all. Like many of you here, I bought my set directly from AnimEigo. However, after reading all of your guys' posts...I just bought the $40 repackaged AnimEigo set from Robotech.com. This set I won't be opening. That aside, I was actually interested in seeing the dubbed version of Macross...that is till I read your guys' posts. I may as well just buy the rest of the Robotech: Macross Saga DVDs if I'm that in need of watching a dubbed release. On a side not...going off topic here. Is the Macross Plus: Movie Edition from Manga worth the $30? I live in the States and I'm not too sure what other versions I could get that may or may not be better than that Manga version. (I know I've asked this before and my question was answered once before, but I'm pretty sure that was on the old message board.)
  3. Did you guys know that those working on the atom bomb back in the day had to live in a city isolated from the rest of the world? No one could get in or out. There were some government employees working there who didn't know what they were doing...except for making sure the needle on the gauge stayed w/in certain limits. If that needle were to move out of the limits they had to turn a knob one way or the other. ...Anyway...I could definitely see a city surrounding the Macross.
  4. If I were to get a second tattoo it'd be of that image. I'd just have to find a larger image of that.
  5. ROFL! If there's one thing I AM sure of, it's me getting a tattoo of the kite...just not which rendition of the kite I guess I should have mentioned that I'm indecisive when it comes to the little things...like "do I want to eat at Burger King or Carls Jr?" and "do I want to watch Macross TV or Macross DYRL?" Either way I'll be eating a burger and watching Macross.
  6. As others have said, nice work! I'm liking the site...and ironically enough...reading all the profiles and such for the mecha has me wanting to watch some Macross right now. I'll have to wait till next week unfortunately to do some watching. I dunno if you want to explain what GERWALK and FAST stand for in your profiles or not.... I guess that'd depend on your targeted audience. Other than that, awesome work. I'm looking forward to seeing more (even some Macross II!!! ).
  7. Thanks Hurin! I still need to get a copy of DYRL? on DVD btw.... My head is spinning.... I guess it's going to boil down to which one is more liked by others...which one others think is more 'true'...which one I like the most.... I'm quite the indecisive type too. Why couldn't there just be ONE consistent rendition? :cries: (I removed the images in my reply to save bandwidth/memory or whatever)
  8. My mistake! Sorry! I somehow missed the keyword "Movie"...don't ask me how either. ...I also forgot to thank you for posting the image. Thank you!
  9. You make a great point. I can't recall what the U.N. Spacy insignia looks like though in DYRL?. ...Is the one Mr March posted the one from DYRL?
  10. How much does the HD box set cost and is it only on BluRay?
  11. Would you mind posting it, please?
  12. Awesome! Thank you for the image! You know it didn't occur to me, until your post, to try and replace "Macross" with "Robotech" as a keyword in my searches. Surprisingly enough I got quite a few 'good' results. You'd think "Macross" would have gotten better results...I thought so at least. After looking at quite a few of them, the rendition you use seems to be the more "true" looking rendition. These are the images I found [numbered (plus Hurin's)]: Hurins: 1 2 3 4 5 6 With 5 I was thinking of photoshopping it to get rid of "Macross Saga" if I were to use the image. I'm not sure which of these is the 'most accurate/true' rendition. 2 and 4 look wider at the bottom; 2 and 5 have the 'same colored' stripe down the middle (background color that is). What do you all think? Thanks again.
  13. I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as I get it done and it's all healed. I just need to find an image now. It could be a long while, I just have the DVDs at home...so I don't have much to work with.
  14. Hah, I'd like a symbol, not an anime character. I'll keep that in mind, thanks! I just need to find the right image now. The very few images I have found all looked messed up. Messed up in that the kite symbol itself looked wider in certain areas than it should. There was one insignia that seemed to have come close to what's used in the anime, but it wasn't the the true thing. It's starting to look like I won't be getting one of the Kite after all.
  15. I was just wondering if there are any 'official' dimensions and if there's an image up on the net with the 'true' 'official' kite design with the true 'official' colors? I've tried searching the forums with these keywords: Kite/UN Spacy Kite/Macross Kite and nothing came up or stood out except for someone referring to "The UN Spacy Database," which wasn't of any help. I've also tried searching through Google and Google Images and came up empty handed. If anyone is, by chance, curious as to why I ask. I've been considering getting a tattoo of something I'm passionate about; it just so happens that I'm passionate about Macross. The tattoo would be of the kite with マクロス right below it. Since it's permanent I'd like nothing more than the 'official'...real-deal image. ...As to why I ask for the dimensions, if I need to scale down the image or upscale it accordingly...staying true to the dimensions...keeping the aspect ratio and whatnot. So I would greatly appreciate any and all help. Thanks!
  16. Ahhhhhhh....debates on Macross II (with Keith no less)...brings me back to the days of AFM. (I still stand by my arguments made way back then. )
  17. I just saw a trailer for the movie and all I can say is that I'm looking forward to this movie (opinion hasn't changed since I first heard about the movie despite having seen the trailer). There are really only two things that I'd like to see in this movie: Transformer deaths and Optimus Prime saying "Megatron must be stopped, no matter the cost." I could probably care less about the human character development...I want to see (Transformer) death, destruction, and chaos! More "importantly"...moreover...I just mainly want to see transformers...forget any human character development/involvement! As other has have pointed out, some of these recent Transformers cartoons aren't all that great. I too believe that, though because the of the human involvement in the cartoons. I don't recall seeing THAT MUCH human involvement in the G1 cartoon...in comparison to some of the newer Transformer cartoons. Anyway.... (Sorry if I haven't made complete coherent thoughts that make sense...been drinking a little too much coke and rum tonight. ...Btw, love the built-in spell checker on Firefox 2.) Edit:Here's the Transformers trailer that I was talking about.
  18. I just tried navigating through through amazon.co.jp. I typed in Macross and only 3 pages of stuff came up and it all looked like video games and video. The text was all in Japanese of course so I couldn't navigate around much. :/ Would these books be in English anyway? If not they're no good to me. Thanks for the reply though, I appreciate it!
  19. I guess I should have made that "English equivalent" rather than just "equivalent." I can't read Japanese (unless it's in roman letters and I have a means of translating it.) ='(
  20. Granted it's not 'pure' Macross, but whenever I hit the road on vacation I bring my copy of the Robotech novels with me. I find they're a good read. Does anyone else read these when they aren't able to watch their Macross DVDs? Moreover, the real reason why I created this thread: Is there a 'pure' Macross equivalent to these "Jack McKinney" Del Rey novels? Or is this the closest thing there is to a 'pure' Macross novel in the English language? (By 'pure' I mean no Robotech.)
  21. ...Dunno where you get your info. from, but it was my belief that the Macross II Valkyries were accepted by lots.
  22. Watching the football video...those things are cool! The fact that they can do cartwheels and fall over only to get back up. I can't wait till this kind of stuff is more mainstream and we're seeing human size versions.
  23. I was reading some Bleach forums and apparently the Bount arc is supposed to end shortly (thank goodness). I stopped watching and lost interest around the time where they entered the museum. Apparently the opening and ending of episode 106 shows some scenes/clips from the new Bleach movie. Everyone seems all hyped about the movie from these scenes/clips.... I'm looking forward to getting back into Bleach. Edit: I think I left off at 70 something and just watched episode 106. I honestly can say I don't think I've missed a thing in the past 30 or so episodes (even though it's filler).
  24. Questions: Does Shoji Kawamori know about Macross World? For that matter, does BigWest or anyone officially associated with Macross (production) know about Macross World? I was just wondering if they knew how big their fan base is in the English speaking countries...and that we're always looking for more Macross!
