  1. No, I hadn't; sorry. I haven't been anywhere near a computer since the 22nd of December till late last night...I just now caught up on the 630 or so posts in this thread. I can only imagine what I've missed in the "part III" news thread. Thank you Azrael and Kresphy for pointing me in the right direction! ~~~ As for my thoughts on the special. I'm stoked about what I saw. I'm not as bothered by the transformation anymore. The character drawings aren't all that grand...but they work. From when we first heard about Macross Frontier I've always thought that the new series would somehow tie in with the APHOS; after watching the special I still believe the same. I guess only time will tell...I can't wait!!! Edit: As for the Macross II vibe...the 'Red Space Monster' reminded me of the Gigamesh.
  2. I can't seem to find the trailer for the second episode. =( I've checked all of the links on the first post of this thread. Could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks!
  3. ...What does that mean for us residents in the States? I just got mine from Amazon.co.jp today. I haven't opened it yet either. I don't suppose it really matters since I can't read Japanese...but still it'd be nice if it was correct.
  4. Still going to go with a 720p unit? And if so, same models still? I'm still thinking long and hard about it...but every time I do I come back to the 1080p set from Sharp at 32".
  5. I don't see how it isn't profitable already. Are those who prefer subtitles over dubs really in the minority? I don't know about you guys (and I don't mean to derail the topic) but, I find it distracting/annoying when the voices aren't in sync with the mouth movements; it's one of the reasons why I prefer subs over dubs. Moreover, just like people who calibrate their TVs so they can view the content as it was meant to be seen...I too I want to hear the content as it was meant to be heard. ...And dubs aren't how the content was meant to be heard, otherwise you wouldn't have the synchronization problem with the mouths. Surely I'm not the only one who feels this way. Hence why I don't see how it isn't already profitable.
  6. I agree completely; couldn't have said it better myself.
  7. Well, I guess I'm a pirate then and will always be with the way things are now. Call me a consequentialist, but at least I support what I download (through imports and purchases) and to me the ends justify the means.
  8. How's it stealing if I'm buying imported anime (all in thanks to fansubs)?
  9. Well, I would have never bought a lot of the anime that I have if it weren't for the fansubs. A lot of what I've bought hasn't been aired in the U.S. (at least not in my area...with what I have available) like it has in Japan. So these companies are gaining a profit off a demographic that they aren't even broadcasting to. Also, I don't know about you, but I have yet to see a fansub that wasn't pixelated or compressed somehow...and I'm one that likes to have the best picture quality possible. So there's another incentive for me to buy and or import.
  10. Well, I'll say this much: if it weren't for the fansubbers I wouldn't have bought nearly all of the anime DVDs that I have to this day. Moreover, I sh*t on the whole "crossed your doorstep" and left your "control" copyright bullshit. I could understand if it was a DVD that was fansubbed, but if this was something that was broadcast live on Japanese TV...those who are going to uphold the "crossed your doorstep" and left your "control" 'law' can suck it. I don't see how they could be losing any profit from me watching something that isn't in the States or isn't even on DVD yet. Thanks for clarifying things in regards to the law.
  11. I hadn't read that far when I had posted, but it confirms everything I said....
  12. Don't you mean it's punishable ONLY if they're making profit off it? Take "this telecast is copyrighted by the NFL for the private use of our audience..." for example. It is currently legal to use a recording device to record a television show for private viewing. So you and I can both record a NFL game for our own private use.... I see fansubs in the same light...only it's someone else who recorded the show off the tube (rather than my own self)...and in the end I use that recording for my own private use...like I would any other recorded show that I've recorded. I'm not making any money off it (just like fansubbers aren't), and I'm not trying to claim it as my own; I'm just simply watching something that was recorded off the tube...for my own private use. Tis how I see it all anyway.
  13. Well, I placed an order for the Limited Edition and Flashback 2012; I can't wait!
  14. For the record, there are people who do care about Macross II, thank you very much! I'm still thinking Macross F will be related to the APHOS/AFOS.... I can't wait till the 31st of December!
  15. I was thinking of replying to ya in the other thread, or even in PM, but I figured going through here would probably better. So why are you thinking of going with a 720p set...or more specifically the Sony 32S3000? I looked at that set on Amazon.com and they're selling it for about $100 less than Sharp's 32" 1080p LC-32D62U on the same site. From the looks of things, it's going for $1,099 in the stores? The 1080p set can be found for about $200 more in stores.... I've read that it's going to be hard to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p at 32" and less...but I figure if you're gonna be spending that much money...why not fork over a little more for a higher resolution?
  16. Just tossing out an idea here.... I dunno how much you pay to keep this forum up and running, Shawn, Graham, but maybe you guys could add a donation feature to the site to help with the costs? (Unless there already is one and I've been too blind to see it....) MW is my homepage...and it's probably the only site I visit regularly, I wouldn't mind donating some cash to help keep it all going!
  17. Graham, I wouldn't say people are getting worked up about the green electrical thing...at least I'm not getting worked up about it anyway. I'm not going to let that ruin my experience with this new series. I'm very much looking forward to this series actually (Macross is my number one obsession/passion above anything else). It's just that this green electric bolt thing just seems out of place in my opinion, tis all. TV, DYRL?, II, Plus, Zero didn't have any of that...which is what I'm used to and what I expect if you will; the transformations seemed all "realistic"...this green electricity, however, doesn't give me that sense of "realism" that I've found in the previous series (when it comes to the transformations). If there's a technical explanation for it, then I wouldn't 'complain'...but if it is as you say for the visual appeal...that's where I'm bothered. Again, it's not the end all be all that's going to make or break this series for me...it's just not something I'm all ecstatic about.
  18. Haha, I don't hate Macross 7. I'm thinking you didn't pick up on my sarcasm either. :/ I was just simply stating that there are things about each series that people do not like. The transformation of this particular valkyrie is one of them.
  19. Yea...been around since Macross 7...not something all of us have seen or are used to. And the transformation in the video you linked is nowhere near as 'fancy' with the electricity. You know Wolfx...I can't see why people are complaining about some kid flying a plane in the middle of a war playing his guitar, singing his heart out while amazingly dodging everything that comes at him....
  20. Well...I don't mean to be a 'negative-nancy,' but to be honest...I dislike the transformation. I understand that it's thE latest fighter out there so to say, but this futuristic transformation stuff (that green electricity bolt thing) just isn't doing it for me.... If only they would to do away with the green sh*t and keep the same transformation.... Hopefully it will grow on me >_< I still am, however, very much looking forward to the new series! The teasers have done their job perfectly...they sure have teased me. Also, in the second teaser we see, the very first scene we see reminds me a little of Macross II!
  21. I love the bottom image (bottom), dunno what to make of the top one though.
  22. ...Does MW really have 4,506 unique members? I've always been wondering just how many of those are truely unique and not a 'second account' if you will. I dunno if you guys can answer my question or not. Regardless, thanks either way (at least for taking the time to read this).
