When I took that pic they were flipping back and forth between the old and new screenshots so there wasn't enough time to get a perfect pic. To add on top of that the screenshot has a haze to it on purpose. They were discussing how the animation will have glare and shadow as if in real life. That pics angle is showing the effects of sunlight so it got a little hazy towards the top. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with this new look. I think it does look like Scott just modernized for toadys standard of anime. I think it was Areaseven that mentioned it looked like "Wonderful Days", Thats mostly because I believe DRMovie worked on that as well. DRMovie was given some liberties for designs to help ease the animation process I believe. As for the flight suits.. all three of the Robotech sagas had spandex type flight suits so it's only natural IMO. As for the EVA comments.. New Gen was there first!

I'm sort of confused.. I have the original MKII and love it so when I saw the VB-6 I was impressed until I saw it has 3 modes which then confused me. What is this design based on.. is it in any of the series as a tranformable mech or is this like the latest model yet to be seen in a series?

I believe the reason behind that, if the rumor is true, is they are still in negotiations with companies/networks and are holding off until those deals are closed. My guess would be to keep outside influence from creeping in to sway the networks one way or the other... basicly a "you either like it or you don't" tatic which is smart business wise but leaves the fans wondering. Hopefully in the end everything will work out for everyone.

Yes they are quite horrible designs but as stated they had to try to make them different yet familar. Besides that was made in the 80's... the spandex era!

I found it intriguing. Are you there? To me the story was more about finding the desire to be independent (aka: I am here!) When the festums show up it forces man to cherish life and it's trivial aspects such as pottery sculpting. It definitely had EVA aspects but I enjoyed it more because it lacked the (imo)whining EVA seemed to embrace.

DRMovie. The same group that worked on Macross Plus and Yukikaze. Korean based.

I have a 2 year old daughter and a 7 year old son.. he watches RT for about an episode and gets bored. He's also watched some of the Macross generations.. again he becomes bored. He does like Godzilla and will watch it subtitled even though he's not reading it. I only know this because he couldn't figure out how to change the language selection. He does prefer it dubbed because it allows him to understand what is going on and the emotions. My advice is to let your children decide what interests them and nothing to them is considered dumbing down as they learn at their own pace and only from what interests them. Just as some in this thread have mentioned some parents are too lazy to intrigue their children with knowledge there are also those that try to force too much upon them before they are ready. This could lead to making them dislike something they may have potentially liked in the future.

It's polyphonic. it also has Enhanced Messaging for file attachements. That's why I was hoping someone on here may already have the Macross themes or other anime stuff. I alos just noticed I can get a data cable to hook up to a pc.. learning new stuff everyday! I appreciate the help.

Anyone have or know of any Macross related wallpapers/ringtones for cell phones? Preferably mecha but any is wanted. I have been searching the web for hours and can't find anything. Unfortunately for me my phone is not USB equipped so that makes aquiring images even harder. Any knowledge of cool anime cell wallpaper downloads would be appreciated too!

What difference does it make that the US did this? Eventually someone would have accomplished this given time. Those against it just come off bitter that the US is once again pointed out as being "on top". This is just the evolution of technology, do you think UN Spacy wouldn't have such capabilities. Seems wierd to be a fan of an anime dedicated to space warfare with advanced technology and then be upset that space technology has advanced.

Why would there be a Macross series without these themes, or transforming mecha for that matter. If you're looking for a Macross series that doesn't contain those elements, then why not watch something else? The nature of a storyline/franchise is to maintain a constant set of elements, and Macross has alwasy done it well while still keeping things fresh. Well I stated I could do that in the original quote. However I will explain further. It doesn't have to be stories based solely around Valk pilots. Why not have the story evolve onto themes where the main backdrop is around destroid pilots or even move into the realm of Zentraedi evolution after space war 1 instead of it always focusing upon how great humans are. (Just thinking aloud as I type) These are just some ideas I would like to see as new roles for Macross. However I also realize Kawamori's facination with flight/pilots and he partially makes these animes to appease his own fantasies which means these ideas are mostly wishful thinking.

Actually you made my point here as well but on the oposite side of the coin. Why does it have to be transforming jets in every series. This is the repetitiveness I speak of. I would like to see Macross take on a completely new role mecha and character wise. Often fans have remarked the mecha was a backdrop to the real story so why does the same backdrop have to be there. Then again this is Macross's moneymaker and I can watch a different anime for that I guess. I'm not saying I hated it all.. just don't feel as amazed as I used to be with Macross. There will always be those we love and those we don't because we don't know them therefore there's always going to be hope and destruction. To me that makes the whole "gatekeeper" thing moot if that's all it was looking for. Anyway before someone screams "it's just anime" at me, I appreciate you taking the time to discuss this with me and don't want you to think I'm just here to gripe so I'll continue to read here for other views as well. At the time of my post I didn't feel it was what Macross is to me which isn't war machines nor song is the ultimate answer. My reasons for liking Macross is the journey's into the characters personal discovery. Ewilen's post does make it sound that Shin fits this profile and to a point it does. However I still feel this series isn't as strong as the others because it seems that Shin was the only one evolving and in the end he just disappears. My apologies for being too specific but the general idea I was trying to convey remains. If something is great by itself then reasoning "it's better than what others do" shouldn't apply. Who was left other than the Myan's who were already living that lifestyle to show humanity that. Sara , DD, Aeris, the professor, nora and Shin are gone. Roy was the only other one close enough to understand the true story and as I stated earlier he doesn't seem to be spreading the love later in the timeline but more of self-indulgence. Everyone else would probably think they ran the birdman off with the warheads. In closing I do feel it fits in the Macross franchise quite well but it just doesn't move me the way SDF, DYRL and Plus did.
