  1. Well, for my two cents... i'm with Mr March on the Macross Plus adaptation, it would be easier to do (not to mention ROCK MY SOCKS OFF) but i dont think it will get off the ground, at least not in this form anyway. Say wasnt there a M+ "movie" on the cards a few years back anyway? would have looked something like FF spirits within (in style - i mean a CG movie). With regards to 'serious' interest from hollywood on a Macross SDF movie, i beleive James Cameron was quoted as having the rights to Black Magic M66 by Masamune Shirow so if directors of his style and calibre have an interest in Anime there may be hope for this yet! serious contenders for a decent Macross OR Robotech (not ideal i know) movie Ridley Scott James Cameron Vincenzo Natali Guillermo del Toro and my cat 'spangle' could play Minmay.. she whiny enough! lol
  2. "If you can do that then you can read subs. If you people honesty need dubs then please stop driving. " LOL!!! I don't drive but thats funny... it seems there will always be the two types of purist out there. The animation purist that prefers the dub (if its passible.. not terrible), and the hardcore purists who say 'no' to nearly all (only the best and most exact dubs need apply) dubbed anime. I think this debate will have no winners (and equally no losers) as we will always argue our own points. I still and always will get a bee in my bonnet with the sub only crowd, as i see animation for what it is... animation. I can see the value of original language animes and do not dismiss them in any way, shape or form. i guess the raw format is king at the end of the day. (If only we all spoke Japanese, Chinese, Korean etc ). On a side note where do we stand on anime desgined for dual languages? written and animated to be a compromise between _______ and english? I can only think of a couple of examples, Final Fantasy (spirits within and advent children), and maybe Yukikaze (i think... someone will correct me if i'm wrong).
  3. Thanx RazorX... MW forums rock. Keep up the good work all.... and thanks for making a n00b feel welcome.
  4. WOW, that thing is HUGE!!! looks almost too big for 1/60.. do the feet / toes collapse any more than that? looks kinda like its on tiptoes! never mind i see... its is a bit on the tall side though! hows the balance in the battroid and gerwalk modes?
  5. Thanks Mr March, I have bookmarked your site (which by the way is excellent) and the compendium for future references... damn this is going to be an expensive hobby/addiction maybe i should have taken up something cheaper like meth or cocaine!?! (jokes)

Maybe a proper Zentraedi battle pod? now theres a thought.. i know Yamato don't usually touch enemy mech or units as they are generally poor sellers, but its a thought..... kinda fits the clues too..
  7. Okay, hmm i know the Ground -Combat Protector.... does anyone know what theactually stand for? G - (Ground) B - (battle?) P - (protection?) have gone all the way through your compendium yet, but i promise.. i will. as i'm an old skool robotech fan just getting back into the scene (just watched the series again and had to buy 8 valks.. doh!) i have some catching up to do.
  8. As i mentioned orginally, i think all anime should get the dual audio treatment... and as for english speaking people, there are some good dubs out there. First time i watched MAC+ it was dubbed OVA and it is still the best (IMHO), others benefit from their orginal audio... fact is you will inevitably miss things when reading subs, i dont care how superhuman your reading skills are. i have seen Akira, (in english and japanese) like, a million times and i still see new things. My orginal example still stands.. MAC-0 is awsome (seen the proper dvd and the fansub) but i'd love to see it in english just to 'relax' while watching... too much going on in some scenes, and as DRYL and MAC7 its just not fair that i will have to watch each one 3 times just to make sure i dont miss anything. - reminds of that scene in mac-0 ep1 where focker is tracing missles with eyes.... too... much... too fast..-

Sooo.... let get this right (yes i have read waaaaaaaay too much) we're not getting...(yet anyway) VF-0D VF-0 reactive armor TV Version SDF-1 1/60 Monster No 1/48 (that is firmly established.. we think) valk. VF-5000 VF-11B VF-22 ... and we already know about the "nora"1/60 and the YF-21 1/60 did i miss any other serious candidates? methinks the big 'G' is having some fun...... personally, i want VF-0D, VF-11B and the monster (the1/100 kinda sux a bit) all in 1/60..ooh and some reactive armor...
  10. P.S. i DO know what VF and CF mean.... still looking for GBP!?! but an acronym dictionary would be good tho.....
  11. Is there, anywhere, a comprehensive list of acronyms for us n00bs? example - GBP (I have searched on here and elsewhere, but can only find joke answers) VF, CF etc, etc.... i think it would be a handy reference for all concerned and not just us n00bs
  12. Of course, I am refering to english speaking peeps..... not even i would force Japanese peeps to watch anime in english LOL I just think we miss soooo much by reading subs. At least the first time something is viewed, it should be viewed in your own language so u can at least get the jist of the story while still enjoying the animation.
  13. I have not seen this as a topic on MW yet (someone please correct me if i'm wrong) but it sometimes gets to me that harcore anime fans are always strict 'Sub' fans. The reason this ticks me off is simple.... I love Anime, (as a former art student i wrote my final thesis on the comparisons between Japanese fine art and animation) I watch anime not just for the stories, but for the style of animation. Things we can not yet do or would not work on film can be carried out with real flair and style (example: any mech transformation)... Anyway, to cut a long rant short.. reading subtitles takes away from the animation itself. I agree that seeing an anime in its original language has more meaning, but why deny yourself the effects by constantly scanning the bottom of the screen reading text? Most recently (for me at least) Macross Zero (which was bloody brilliant by the way!) - stunning animation! fast paced action scenes that can be totally missed by reading the subs! argh! I am not trying to start wars or anything and i know as a very new member i may be over stepping the boundaries but does anyone else out there agree with me? A lot of my freinds claim to be animation fans and have yet to see a dubbed movie because "its not right man... it should always be in the original language" In an ideal world, I would have dual language versions of all my anime. I would dearly love to watch Macross DYRL or Macross 7 in english just so that i could actually 'watch' them and fully enjoy the animation! OK rant over, thanks for your time.
  14. Thanks Razor, I got it... now to figure out these tricky controls... I take it there is no patch to make the rest of the menus in english? I know with some foreign games, the native language is unavoidable. Thanks again... hope to see u in space
  15. HI guys (and gals), been looking for this game for waaaay too long, and i tried the link above but no joy.. as you can see i'm a MW noob. Does anyone have an alternative suggestion for a D/L link for this game? I cant do the ftp thing but torrents are ok (my isp is a bit iffy). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Yeah, big thanks for this... i got mine the other day and realised that i forgot to got to M.I.T. for my engineering degree to be able to transform this beastie.
