Correction: Early in the morning on the 2nd or late in the day wherever you are.

That would be sweet @Jasonc, as the new DX Fan Racer is so close in scale, whether it's accurate or not, LOL...these could be used for both versions!

I put them both side by side, and the DX is smaller than the Yamato by about 1/4". The wings are also set lower, but most of the shortness of the DX fan racer is in the fan construction itself. They both have beautiful design, and both have aesthetics that are appealing, but I think if both were real fan planes, the DX would not fly well, if at all. That said, once they're done and I build a set, I'll post pics.

  3. I know this was a subject brought up ages ago, but I was curious if anyone had made a set of landing gear for the 1/60 Yamato Hikaru fan racer? I am currently working on a set, and they are more just for the model in a landed position (details aren't there too much). If anyone else has made them, I'd like to take a look at your design for them. Here are mine. The front landing gear is not done yet. I know the images are a bit blown out, but I don't have my 3D cad on this computer, so I took small pics of them and had to blow them up.

Pretty sure the Labyrinth of Time short feature has been described as a separate project?

Besides, wouldn't Mikumo come off rather flat and undeveloped sharing screen time with the character she's an expy of both in-universe and out?

Separate project doesn't mean that it can't be a part of the movie. From what I remember, it wasn't described exactly as that, but it is something that will be shown aside from the movie (be it a new song/video, short episode, etc.)

As for the second point, I don't know your thinking to get to that opinion, so I can't really respond to it. It is your speculations that you're basing that opinion on, and so there's nothing for me to comment on for it. I don't think she'd come off flat, as there's a lot that can be done with the story there, but I don't have set expectations and ideas.

hmm have found all the pins I need except M1 x 13mm.  seems they are all even numbered after they get past a certain length (ie. 12 or 14 or 16 mm).  must have clicked on 30 different ebay sellers selling metric M1 pins.  lol.  If anyone has a good source, let me know.  Also, for the screws in these typs of 3d printed material, do I need self tapping or will regular machine screws work?

Use self tapping screws. For 3D printed parts, some of the holes are too small, and you won't get them to anchor. For any odd sized pins, I use the 20mm pins, and cut them down to the correct size. I have calipers that I use to measure them, so if they're a little off, I can fine sand them to the right length. Some I usually sand down a little less, so that they don't stick out at all. You can cut them using a good, large plier with a thick wire cutter. 1mm isn't too hard to cut.

Still available at HLJ if you're interested.

I was able to score one from AmiAmi. But even if I weren't, there are other online stores available, and this won't be super hard to find in the aftermarket.

This thread is probably the most comprehensive one you'll find for where most of us are finding our stuff.  At the top of the first page you'll find a nice list.

That wasn't really the point of why I was asking. It was more to find where people were shopping for it to spread the load of preorders.

  8. Out of curiosity, what sites do most of you use for ordering these? I know it's an age old question, I'm just curious to see where people go, so that I can figure out where other options are.

Did you use standard solid metal dowel pins or something like slotted spring pins, grooved pins etc?  TIA

Use solid steel pins. Don't use knurled pins. You will need different sizes,, which can be found in the instruction mNual, as well as screw sizes. For screws, I think the standard size is 1.7 x 6, 8, and 10.

That’s really really nice! I haven’t finished mine yet but I can see how much love and work you did on the sanding alone!

The weathering fits well this figure too! Great job!

Thanks. I was really happy as to how it turned out. I may decide to do up a really nice diorama with this from Delta.

  11. I am all in for the Basara and Mylene figures. Those look too good to pass up on. Technically this will be my 3rd or 4th Mylene figure, and my 2nd Basara (counting the CMs figures and the Beach Queen and FB2012 Mylene/Minmay set). They do need the rest of the band though. MAKE IT COMPLETE!!!

  12. The Cheyenne II is now done. It took a bit of time as the printed kits do, but I am really happy with the finished look. The brown color is actually a black primer, with a tan paint lightly dusted over it to create a darker tan. The missile pods don't line up perfectly, but it's not the worst thing.

  13. Thanks. Sadly, not updates yet. I have most of it done, but I have to do another coat to cleanup the forearm cannon. Easy cleanup this time, but the rest of it is done, and I'm quite happy with it. I also just finished the hand that goes on it, so after that last cleanup paint, it's ready to be put together.

I also got all the priming and sanding done on the missile pods, and the first coat of color. Today I try to figure out how I want to add some variation in color and some decal work.

It’s looking great! I like the choice of colors :)

Thanks. I should have the right forearme done tonight. I'm still working on the shoulder missile pods, but it requres a bit of work, as making clean cuts from the sprue was impossible. I have started the process of priming and sanding on them to find the areas I need to fix, and as soon as that is done, I still need to wait for some extra parts for the missiles themselves to come in. A finished pic will be up tonight.
