  1. Here's my very first custom. I'm working on two right now, but this one has a VF-1D head by chris as well as heat shield, and cockpit. The pilots are scratch built, and the decals are of Anasazi's great work. I used Tamiya sand for the brown and Tamiya orange. The green is a mix of two bottles I found of Tamiya paint that I knew would look good if mixed.

  2. We're assuming this is still somewhere around a star to provide some sort of light. Even with certain gases, and starlight, if it was in deep space away from those objects, even the most colored and bright painted valk would be near impossible to see. That being said, I'm sure the pilots in space have to rely on the radar probably more than their immediate visuals.

  3. From one customizer to another, your work is awesome. The weathering and the detail is superb. You definitely have an eye for the art of modeling and customizing. Again, great job. :D

  4. I'm looking for custom 1/55 heads, any recomendations for suppliers? I have looked around the boards and I really don't see any posts.

I believe the wanted forum is the best place to get them. I don't know if Chris still does them. If so, anybody have a link or direction to go in? I need some custom parts as well. Thanks. BTW, Pics coming tonight of my custom work. :D

  5. To answer some questions, the cyclone I believe goes into the chest area. As far as size is concerned to the 1/55 scale MPCs, it is somewhat smaller. Perhaps about 2-3 smaller. To be honest with you, the pics that everyone sees don't do it justice. And you cannot see all the diecast that went into this thing. If you have the superposeables, then you will be happy to know that the the movement of this toy is very close to that. All joints for the piece I saw were extremely fitted right. And this was the final design piece. I didn't get to see the figure or the gun, just the actual toy. If I had to say if it was worth $80, I'd really have to balance it out with $80 for the MPC VF-1s. With respect to that, I'd say yes. If you can spend $80 on the first set, this set will definitely be worh it. But in reality, I still bite my lip over $80 anyways. Remember this though, they made this at 1/55 scale for a reason. There is supposed to be another transformable mecha that attaches to the back that is much larger.

  6. I've seen these things first hand and in my hand, and must say this: If you pick one up, you'll be shocked. Metal joints, and a lot of diecast. The pics photoshopped the cockpit, so it is clear. I also like the fact that the missile bays open. I think Toynami has gone all out for these toys. I'll definitely be in for these babies!!!

  7. I thought a collections thread would be pretty cool, but then I figured I'd get jealous seeing what some people have. That's why I put up a customs thread. Hopefully those that do customs will want to put their work up, and also show-off some of the people who make the custom parts, decals, stickers and stuff. I hope it inspires those that customize to do more and to let others who thought about it to actually try it.

  8. I'm gonna have to put up my pics when I get a more modern digital camera, but I think it'd be cool to have a thread where we see all the customs out there. Not just valks, but any Macross or Robotech toy customs. Also, if you post them, give a brief description of who you got parts from, decals, stickers, and on and on. Credit where credit is due. what do you think? :D

  9. I was thinking of doing this, and I have a degree in Electrical engineering. Using those small, thin watch batteries is best, and where to put it is difficult. I have designed it to where storing them in the latch where you pop the arms out and bring the head throug is best. You could use conductive paint, but I could use a wire in that design too. Using conductive paint and a resistor is very difficult to construct. As far as resistor size, they do have high rated leds that'll handle the batterie I believe, but if it's not available, I'll have to test out which resistor size will run the led cool. I have hundreds of those things here, so I'll let you know in a few days which one will do you justice. :D

  10. I use PineSol. Soak it in that for about an hour, get a used old toothbrush, and brush away the exess paint in the cracks. Sometimes it takes a few good soakings, but I've done it many times, and have had no side effects and good results.

  11. I thought it was IGN, but upon looking at the info, it was infact, Gamefaq that released that info. In the old forums, there was a link to it, but when it disappeared, I couldn't find the link anymore. As far as the new game, I'm all set to get it already. Money is saved and the mod chip for my PS2 is waiting as well. :D
