  1. You could try a 3D printing service to get the rest of the destroids you would need. I'd get some quotes for you but I don't have any .srt files of the destroids lying around.
  2. Or a big data base like jeff russels site could be built with all the know craft in the series in scale, compare anything to anything
  3. No not really each Nimitz for example is different from the one before. You might run into batches being built more or less the same but designs get revised with time.
  4. That is the shoulder of a NMC if i ever saw one. Looks like Battle 21 is going to get the theatrical transformation for the NMC class in this series.
  5. Honestly have you ever played a space sim that even has remotely accurate physics(like I-war for instance)? If you had you'd know that your instances of ballistic contact with a target are short. You would need a targeting system, take the F-22 vrs anything situation. It can see you but you can't see it, which brings me to an other point. I really love how when they were fighting the Pixi's in the early part of the series and Luca picked them up by heat sig not by radar, seeing how everything has some form of stealth system. Honestly the Colonials would be seven different shades of screwed facing valks, mainly considering the ECM and ECCM of the macross world. I really think even the Cylons would be screwed, as in the macross world there is already combat hacking(yang newman anyone). Lets face it if a pilot can shoot down a missile a Viper is larger but has a human at the helm, so only slightly tougher at best.
  6. Anything that is capable of Z-axis positive translation(sliding up) in excess of a G or 2 with its verniers could technically land and take off vtol.
  7. Some lines on the front signal lamp housings to make it look like the optical sensors. Some kind of fuel marker on the tank. Pilot identification sticker, maybe a unit number too, lets not forget squadron art too. Edit: oh and who can forget the thruster/hook handles that are the Macross hall mark.
  8. I would say without any doubt that Max was a virtuoso in a Valk but how would he handle the confines of a fixed wing aircraft? I think there Hikaru would have very solid footing on Max. Different class maybe but SK also made it clear that Hikaru was in a different class of fixed wing pilots himself(in the TV ver). They were 2 of the best of the best 3 in their time. Roy/Milia sharing the 3rd spot. I'm with the camp that view Hikaru as being a little unappreciated regarding his pure skill as a pilot. Roy was often in awe at how fast he adapted and how good he actually was. A lot of that I'd imagine also came from the fact that he survived. Granted Roy was quite amazed with Max but Max started in a Valk as far as we know and that has a whole realm of maneuvers that were never conceivable in a fixed wing aircraft. Hell the VF-1 Fighter mode only could likely pull the same stuff the F-22 can do on top of out running it.
  9. Why do you have to use the reactor fuel as propellant if its so efficient. Then you could use a propellant that is more stable. What if you used a super cooled inert gas as propellant like Xenon?
  10. Well the propellant is likely used at the coolant. Perhaps its used in closed cycle in an atmosphere but in space all the heat from the engine is vented out when the coolant is used as a propellant.
  11. Yikes.... I guess that all depends on how much a compact fold drive costs. Plus lets face it thats just too powerfull for a tactical weapon. In FreeSpace 2 volition evaluated the idea but found it way too powerfull to put in the final game. But a theater weapon like a DE or some other planet killer would be well suited to the job of fold weapon.
  12. Well all three examples in this argument have some form of Jump Tech that can put an aggressor with in close combat range in an instant. This puts the need for long and short range weaponry on equal footing. With space being vast long range will always be in need. Which puts tactical requirements much the same between the three series, with large needs in tactical mobility and hitting power. Large battle wagons classically handle like a cow under the best of conditions, and likely a drunken one when delivering/receiving punishment. B5, BSGR, and Macross all have very fighter centric militaries, this handles the tactical mobility. They're shipping is also much the same. Large all purpose battle units, that field fighters and enter ship to ship combat. In Macross and B5 more specialized smaller units are known, I can only assume in BSGR they would be there aswell.
  13. 70 in cannon how in all my years did i miss that... I'm sorry while the SD cannon is a scary weapon, A slug a little under 6 feet in diameter slamming into a hull at even a quarter the speed of light is frightening. Can we say crunch...
  14. Eh With how well the VF-25 is designed they'll likely just stick to variable kits. Or make it so that a kit could be built in one of the three modes.
  15. VF-1 you can tell by the flat surfaces and all the bumps are in the right places, plus the feet are squared off
  16. I know this quite well, I also know that much of the destructive force from a nuclear bomb is from said bomb reacting to the atmosphere. My thought is that a reaction bomb is not a fuel burning explosive in the traditional sense and that it is more or less a self contained omni-directional SD discharge in a contained field. So like its the same type of field generator as one of the cannons only it releases its energy differently. Because a nuke would more or less just be a small pop in space with no atmosphere to react to, the explosion only has what little mass is around it to react with. With reaction weapons there is a lingering orb of destruction that just sits there and burns for a few seconds. Ok granted as I write this something occurred to me. You could use a nuke core and other fusion stages as the fuel for the explosion itself but instead of explosives to trigger the reaction you could use a SD field to crush the core causing the 'Reaction' and contain it and a field that expands to a certain size. This could create an opportunity for such a device to consume all its fuel making it many times more powerful. This is of course if you could create such a field, but it would change it to being a temporarily controlled explosion.
  17. I had a odd idea, the 25 is in deployment testing. Perhaps the PPB system for that fighter is only now becoming available. Or its always been there as its use could have been subtle, in ep 7 Alto takes a lot of hits but the biggest eyebrow raiser was when the squid was trying to crush his cockpit there was a glow almost like a field surrounding his cockpit.
  18. I don't know if this has been brought up in previous tech threads but I am really starting to think that reaction weapons emit a spherical burst of the same energy as the SD beam weapons. Like the warhead generates a slowly decaying field that contains the Plasma/ether/antimatter that the beam contains. Perhaps at a lower intensity because it essential lingers and burns, this would technically make the blast survivable if the target is resistant to anything short of an SD cannon blast.
  19. Zentradi because they are easier to kill/control and very prolific. If I were to make a bio weapon it's controllability would take the highest priority
  20. Brera's fate is sealed If Luca dies it will be in a VF-25F and he will die in a very hardcore fashion., and this would be after he gets his girl but she is killed in a cross fire, making him go insane. I think MF will be more like M0 and show the experienced pilots survive, and Ozma will make it thru the series physically intact. But mentally he will be a wreck with Ranka gone. I think that the Guardian outliving his ward and the pain from that is something unexplored in macross thus far except in passing. I think its time for that one. Ranka will either sacrifice herself with Brera or as a result of Brera's death and the situation. Not sure if she will die or just go away ala M0. If Sheryl dies, it's going to be in the cockpit in her own VF-25, she'll be on the front lines in a few eps i'm sure of it. But I think she'll live. Alto is the universal a$$ kicker on the good guy side of this macross series, he will survive. Michel, is the most likely candidate really as he is very Roy like. But I think that Klan and Michel will die together, just after seeing eye to eye about their feelings for each other, in one hell of a blaze of glory. Grace is a given, unless they are going to go the 2nd season route, in that case she has a small chance of surviving. Leon has a special place in hell reserved for him, I think he is going to be consumed by the Varja ala Burke in Aliens. All the other supporting characters have 50/50 odds at this point but i think all of them will make it. I'd really like to see SK being able to tell another seasons worth of a story with the surviving characters. Kinda like Ghost in the shell, same team new bad guy. Maybe even do one years down the road so even the surviving characters change around a bit.
  21. If I remember correctly his unit number in his squad was 107. I always thought Eagle was the squad's name, but it could be his callsign and unit number. Which could mean when he went to the YF-19 his unit number went to 1.
  22. or someone could vacuum mold a more macrossy visor and bolt it on. be a total dead ringer then.
  23. I've often wondered the same as in DYRL the side stick seems to more or less deploy the legs, opening combat sequence, and when Hik and Misa are wondering around earth the side stick stays up. The only controls that plus show cased on the 19 were the view screen and the pedals.
