  1. It has been predominantly believed that M:SV was more in the Macross II timeline due to the nature of the Valkyrie designs. Remember, Kawamori and company had NOTHING to do with this game... so looking for links with Macross Zero or Macross Plus are foundless. Especially since the game was out long before the other two series were.

chances are it's either on it's own, or part of the MII universe... IT IS NOT CANON

That´s precisely my point , considering this game wasn´t one of Kawamori´s work it´s a nice coincidence that the VF-1SOL shares some similarities with other later Macross series.

What I´m curious about though is the fact that the VF-1SOL more streamlined design could be used as a refference to what the VF-1 should look like in M0 , considering the VF-1SOL design doesn´t differ that much from the original VF-1 design ( unlike the VF-2SS) while at the same time looking more updated and yet still different from the VF-0.

  2. I wonder if there will be more information on this on the next update. The compendium says its updated on the 1st and 16th of each month and it was noted that the next actual update would take place on the 18th of December. Nothing yet and its the 19th. Hoping there is more info to be on, even if its a little bit of information.

I doubt we´ll see anything worth mentioning in the compendium as there isn´t much to update ( actually there is ,like all the VF without data on them <_< ) since there´s been practically no changes to the compendium for ages , with the exception of the Macross Zero stuff of course.

I hope this rumours refer to a new Macross series cause I think we need a long running TV series right now after the success of M0 , if they don´t then I hope is something AC related

  3. I´ll take this opportunity to ask EXO something :

Are you planning on recasting the Low-vis and Hikaru 1S improved pilot figures ? I think this would be a great idea considering many people found the low vis pilot to be great as well as the new pilot featured in the Hikaru 1S , if this is possible it would kick ass to be able to customise our own pilot figures hence making our valks even more beautiful ;)

  4. I don't think it's canon in the Macross timeline.

But you know what: A lot of people keep asking if the VF-1 will be redesigned at the end of M-0 to look more similar to the VF-0, but the VF-1SOL seen here in the game seems to do that already.

Yeah , that´s precisely why this VF grabbed my attention , it seems appropriate looks-wise to be what the VF-1 should look like by M0 standards.

The VF-1SOL gathers a lot of characteristics from many Macross series , or rather the other way around , The boosters that deploy from the legs and shoulder look very similar to the VF-19 Kai sound boosters but I´m assuming they serve another purpose like energy absorbtion or beam cannons.

The head unit is very similar to the VF-0S head unit ( no ¨plain¨ faceplate like the 1S ) and as I previously said , the 1SOL looks a lot more streamlined that the plain VF-1. If this game was commissioned by Big West and Studio Nue I´d at least assume it´s considered to be within the Macross universe , I should check the compendium once again but I´m pretty sure it´s there.

Maybe the VF-1SOl took advantage of the overtechnology tests made by the VF-0 (hence the similarities) but by the time it was produced it was too late and was re`placed by the relatively cheaper VF-4 (or vice versa in regards to the VF-0 technology ).

Just a question though , does the VF-1SOL appear in the Macross Desing Works book or not?

  5. wow , it´s nice to see I got the attention of you guys , we might even see a wallpaper of this

BTW , does anyone have a link to the VF-0D wallpaper posted some time ago ? I think that thread was overwritten :(

  6. I recently got to play Scramble Valkyrie for SNES and realised that the VF featured wasn´t a standard VF-1 as I previously assumed (silly me <_< ) . Anyway , I got interested and started to do some research but came out with nothing apart from the fact that it was solely designed for the SV game.

So , I´m wondering , where do it fit in the timeline ? is it canon or not ? What was its purpose and what diference did it have with the VF-1 ? and finally , what are those things on the back ? kinda like sound boosters or something

I was also surpried by the fact that the last Boss in the game was very reminiscent of the protodeviln thus making this issue even more interesting as the game was released a long time before M7.

I got curious because I suddenly started to see some similarities with the VF-0 (more streamlined design for example). I don´t remember if it was here but I think I saw a big scan of the game leaflet where the VF-1SOL can be apreciated better. So far I´ve only found this illustration by Mikimoto:

  7. I just thought of something. Vaseline. On your door, doorbell, wherever. Coat it. It's like an irresistible human response to try to get it off, but you can't. They'll be there for at least 5 secs trying to wipe it off before they realize they'd better run.

And being clear, it's hard to tell it's there... just watch for someone running down the street trying to wipe their hands on their pants or something. :) And check the local phones for vaseline on the handsets.

That´s actually a great idea , although the paintball plan sounds good as well

  8. I think this pics deserves to be made a wallpaper but I personally don´t have the skills some of the guys here do so I´m asking for anyone interested to please please please make a wallpaper of this :

I´ve seen some other M0 related pics being made wallpapers so I think this shouldn´t be that hard.

Thanks in advance , and please don´t take this as a personal request I think the rest of the fans deserve a wallpaper of this , that´s mainly why I came here so everyone can have it.

  9. I´m hoping Graham reads this , it´s still on topic so no worries ...

Why didn´t Yamato include the new rubbery pilot figures instead of the older ones when they were already producing the new ones ? specially since the Hikaru 1S was already out by the time the reissues were released

  10. What about this one , I´ve never seen anyone able to do this custom colour scheme before and I´m sure you can do it .

I couldn´t find the one featuring a VF-1 but this comes close enough, I hope ;)

  11. Right now I think I´d be willing to do some minor mods to a 1/48 , don´t know if that would still be called a custom but I´ve been planning buying the 1A and 1S reissues so I can mod them and have a Roy 1A and a Hikaru 1S. I´m pretty lame when it comes to painting models and I don´t have the confidence to do something so radical to a 1/48.

I´ve realised that the best way to try out a new colour scheme or mod is to apply it to some Banprestos first , if it looks right then it´s worth making a 1/48 custom out of it. ;)

  12. I´m surprised no one has yet said : I want a 1/48 SDF-1 !!!

    I wouldn´t be suprised if someone actually came up with such a comment so I´ll save you time : I want a 1/48 SDF-1. Ok, I lied I don´t really want a 1/48 SDF-1 actually I don´t think I really would buy a SDF-1

If they made one , kudos to them , I think it´ll help to have some more variety but as it is now I preffer to have other valks rather than the Macross .

Edit: didn´t notice some words changed the perspective of my post <_<

  13. Aegis, I guess you are having a slow night eh? ;)

    Um....I like Ice Cream Cones!

Now about this being a stupid topic............................. :p

But seriously............................well, oh heck I can't be serious.

    Favourite nosecones!!!!!!!!! <_<:angry::huh:

Have we sunk so low that this is the best we can come up with!

Sigh...............goes off to bash head against a brick wall.

    Graham

Yeah , I know , its lame but at least it´s original unlike the same threads that come up each week ;)

  14. Now , I know this will seem like the stupidest topic of all times but there´s certainly never been anyhting like this ;)

Let´s go straight to the point , we all love a certain valkyrie for many reasons , its design , its appearance , etc... But there´s something that differentiates one valk from another regardless of their origins (VF-1 based or not) , and that´s is their nosecones.

I want to know wich valk´s nosecone you find the best looking one , which one do you find to be the most funcional (aerodynamics , sensors , transformation relevance , weapons , etc...) , please don´t choose based on what VALK you like the most , just focus on the nosecones.

Edit 0: REMBER: THIS ISN´T ABOUT THE VFs , IT´S ABOUT THE NOSECONES!

Edit 1: hehehe ...I forgot to post my own prefered choicce

Well , I know most people will go with the VF-1 nosecone but fanatism aside I think it looks just too ¨basic¨ , is just too ¨old-school¨ for me , besides protecting the Radar dish and for aerodynamic purposes

it doesn´t seem to have any other function or grace.

The VF-5000 nosecone seems to be very functional and good looking as well but the VF-22 beats the hell out of it , I firstly thought the YF-19´s nosecone was the best but looking closer to the VF-22 nosecone it really seems to be the best designed. the VF-14 nosecones is just weird because of the Head unit inside it but having lasers there is nice.

To me the VF-22 is the best :D

  15. Hmm not a bad idea. The VF-11 was shown in a very good light in Macross Plus, well the beginning of it anyway. Its cannon fodder in Macross 7 right from the start. It would be pretty cool if the VF-1A was THE fighter of Macross Zero only to be seen as the CF in SDF Macross. Would keep the pattern up. :D

Better yet , let´s put pilot Warmaker on the Low-Vis VF-1A

  16. I wonder how this takeover could affect the Macross distribution situation worldwide  , I mean , if Nintendo , a widely respected and famous company in the US and internationally , buys Bandai which is currently distributing Macross Zero in Japan , could they guide Bandai to finally kick HG´s ass and distribute Macross series outside Japan ? who knows ...it all depends on how much interest does Nintendo have in the anime franchises that Bandai has a hold of.

  17. the pilot's "scrunched" look really bothered me, so I repositioned the arms.  The left arm on the thrust lever, and the right one grasping the flight stick

Is that the new rubber pilot or the original plastic one ?

I asked the same awhile ago but didn´t get an answer :( , I personally think it looks like the new rubber pilot figures (cause of the helmet).

  18. I can confirm the GBP 1J doesn´t feature ¨special¨ shoulders , the GBP armour shoulders are just slip-over pieces that fit on top of the 1J original shoulders.

Aegis, any ideas on how the shoulder armor pieces lock onto the shoulders?? I can't imagine why they would just let them stay on the shoulders without some kind of attachment.

I suppose the GBP shoulders were designed beforehand to clip over the 1J shoulders as well as all the other GBP armour pieces so they can fit on other valks , but we´ll have to wait until we get it to confirm if this is what Yamato did.

  19. That CF is simply a piece of ART , it´s really beautiful to look at , I don´t know how you did it but this 1/48 emits this ¨ Je ne se quoi¨ feeling (in a good way) it certainly looks amazing.

BTW , did you do something to the pilot figure ? It looks very nice , doesn´t look like the older more crappier figures , it looks like the one from the Hikaru 1S :)

    Excelent work!

Edit : damn I should´ve learned more french at school

  20. more...

Damn , that actually look foto-realistic :o:ph34r: Whay can I say , it looks very nice.

Edit: Just wanted to ask , Are you planning on recasting the Low-vis pilot anytime soon ? what about the Hikaru 1S pilot since the re-issues feature the same crappy pilot figures.

  21. I´m really hoping we get some M0 figures cause I´m eager to have some physical representation of the M0 UN flight suit and particularly helmet as well as the Anti-UN flight suit. in short words they better release Shin and Nora in their flight suits damn it !
