  1. Wow Cobywan, that's simply beautiful. And it looks like you got the size of the nose about 'right'... they always look too small to me in many of the other kits. I know some of it is 'anime magic' which we always make apologies for but I'm all for sticking to the spirit of the anime. Love your work.
  2. Looks great. Thanks for posting all the pics. Let's see more VF-0S!
  3. It would be a long and expensive exercise, I fear! At the moment I'm creating something about half that size, and it's already taken a lot longer than I estimated (not Macross). Anyway, I would really love to see Noyhauser complete his.
  4. Wow! This is one of the better looking Frontier models I've seen. The shading and more realistic colours do wonders for making this work. Well done... I would have liked to see bigger pics, though. But thanks for posting, and now you've got a fantastic display piece.
  5. Good start Herve, looking forwards to more...!
  6. [Darth Vader voice] NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! [/voice]
  7. http://www.jwetc.com/index.php?option=com_...5&Itemid=33 Get the matt version. Thin it with a bit of acrylic Tamiya thinner or isopropyl alcohol and you're good to go for airbrushing. It's the best matt finish I've ever used. And I've tried a lot... And the best thing, apart from it's quick drying, hard wearing MATT finish, is that it's CHEAP!
  8. Well I would have preferred Sydney, but if that was the case I would probably have to organise part of it! Having said that, I think the GOLD COAST is an EXCELLENT choice, as it has the important 'native' attractions we were talking about. Your marketing campaign can include this as a major feature. I think the marketing campaign needs a bit more work than this years, I'll be happy to help closer to the event on this one, since I understand the organisers were pretty stretched in terms of manpower! Anyway, always happy to have an excuse to come up to the GC. I was there a few years ago and had a fantastic time.
  9. Tell me about it. There's an Aussie version that Swanny's site says is equivalent, and while it's not bad... it's not too good either. In anycase, that finish on the gunpod is fantastic... and very anime. That's not like you, wmcheng!
  10. Hi John - I know this isn't the most interesting subject in the world, but I'm interested in your sanding/polishing techniques. What do you use, and how?
  11. That is absolutely glorious. The exciting thing is that I have this model at home. Now I want to complete it.
  12. I'm afraid I haven't tested them in the Yamato valks - I don't own any. Perhaps someone else can test them.
  13. Beautiful work. Good to see you drilled out the holes in the airbrake too!
  14. I'm looking forwards to seeing this one!
  15. Well I only saw one auction (for $300+), but I must admit I do not look every week... or even every second week! Still, before I drop some money on this model, I would like to see comparison pics... or any pics at all!
  16. bump because I'm still interested. Anyone got any buildup pics? I'd love to see some. Specifically interested in fighter mode.
  17. Wow, beautiful work. I know its been a long haul, but patience has paid off big time. The best Messiah I've seen yet. All the masking work really contributes to a very realistic finish. Pity about those seams but that's inherent in the model. I really love how you have the metallics peeking out here and there, as you said, it's almost like a motorcycle. Anyway, well done - this makes me want to finish mine!
  18. I've actually painted up most of the rocket pods, but not assembled yet. Maybe I will get a chance to finalise it this weekend. If so, I will try and take some pics without the dramatic lighting.
  19. Hey, Captain, I'm trying to follow some of your construction techniques - you mentioned you put on spray release before the bondo... is this so the whole bondo area could 'release' off the surface easily for dissassembly?
  20. I agree - the battroid mode looks fantastic. But as for the fighter mode, in terms of design there's certainly a lack of cohesion, those round balls of the forward guns are a bit off-putting for me, and the general lumpiness... still I'll probably have to get one!
  21. ...and that sounds like it's right up your alley. Yep, that's a challenge for you right there.

    Badass! Great work, Ruben.
  23. Wow, I'm going to need one of those. I wish Honneamise would have finished his, but happy to see another one in progress!
  24. Hornsby's a great leafy suburb (worked there a lot!), but I think its a bit far away for anyone coming interstate, from a plane, for example. One of the things I liked about the Brisbane con was that it was right in the heart of Brisbane CBD. I would like to have gone and investigated Brisbane CBD a bit more, considering the small time I had up there. But the idea was right. By putting the con in the centre of the city, you attract more people who might make an extended weekend of it, and put all the facilities close to the con, making it even more attractive, and easy to get to. Sydney's a great city, full of cool attractions, and getting people to come to the con, not just for the con, but for the city too, is a great added incentive. My 2 cents!
  25. You are correct. It is! I am working with some epoxy products at the moment, and had them on the brain.
