Don't fire before you lock on to your target mate. I'm getting two of those Monsters when they come out thankyou very much. (I've sacrificed a lot though too just because I've put in a little more money than estimated just in case ) Really, with these expensive toys, it all depends on how much you want it. I'm not the richest guy on these boards or on the planet, but if I can find a way to scrape up money in any way I'll do it, Whether it's never letting the dishwasher going through the dry cycle to save power costs (that's ultra tight ass I know ) or simple pimpin . But still I agree with you Aegis, let's just drop the concept of scales now and think for a minute. A 1/48 valk at the moment is plenty enough of toy to handle isn't it? Very decent amount of detail as well right? Well then, it is easy to get toys at lower scales around the same size as a VF-1 (not scale) and have the same amount of detail you guys would all enjoy. Not less. Now with the guys who want all their toys in 1/48 for the sake of keeping within one scale, I can't help you there.

this is why people build models... that's the problem with this section, model making, and toy collecting are two DIFFERENT hobbies with completely seperate reasons for amusing Macross fanboys. there should be seperate sections, custom toys should be posted in both. Sorry to put sand in your lubricant but I am referring to the toys. The 1/48 is a toy if I'm not mistaken, and the T bar already has some paint chip due to repeated transformations. I learned after recieveing the VF-1A Hikaru and have kept the paint chipping minimal by being more careful when I transform it. Geez, what is your obsession with die cast dude? These are toys we're talking about, not weights! If you want to feel the pump, get to the gym!
-
I think that die-cast is pretty much being abandoned except for parts where it is absolutely necessary, i.e. the 1/48 swing bar. It's not a cost issue, it's just that with die-cast parts you inevitably get paint chipping, the detail is not as sharp as on ABS parts and it's often difficult to get a perfect color match between the plastic parts and the die-cast parts. Also, many toys with die-cast parts do have balance issues. I know this forum has a lot of die-cast addicts , but I'm not one of them and personally I prefer my Macross toys plastic, with metal only where necessary for strength. Graham I thought that was a brilliant idea with Yamato. Paint chipping is a pain in the backside, also more diecast can put more wear and tear in the joints, causing floppy part syndrome.

Dude, not everyone started off with the VF-1A Hikaru. Being nitpicky, there were a few important changes. I know it is the same price, hell, like you I wish it was cheaper as well (especially with me living in Australia, Japan and China got no love for us <_< ) but tell me, have you ever seen a toy line, any toy line that has minor cosmetic differences in their lines, got cheaper as they went? Never. You can only say that it is a rip off when they sell it at some ridiculous price, and believe me it would show. Our retailers would let us know immediately.
-
<_< How can they be a rip off if they are sold at the same price as the other 1/48s?
-
I would just buy one for the hell of it this time. Mainly because it won't cost me the earth, and I'd like to give Yamato a little support. I still hate it though that they don't give us a future release schedule, I tell you they would love me if they gave me a future release schedule, I'd buy 40 of their 1/48s no problems. At the moment though, Yamato needs to slow down, I mean sheesh: 1/60 Q-Rau, 1/60 GBP Armour, 1/48 Max, 1/48 Millia, 1/100 VF-0 months in sight....that's a lot to swallow at once man.

What is it? I haven's seen thae VF before. I was going to sasy that it was a cutlass from the fighter, but the Battroid mode shoulder and head design proved me wrong. I can see that it says YF-19 and VF-19 in the text somewhere. Druna Skass you're right. It does look like the cross between the VF-19 and VF-3000. If I remember correctly, a newly joined member did some of his own designs for VF's and let us take a look. He mainly crossed over some different VFs. I'm pretty sure that looks very simular to one of the ones he designed.

Hey! That wouldn't be too bad. Megazone 23 was all right. Even though I like Macross above everything else, it would be a nice little diversion of another transforming series. But I doubt it. Otherwise, this would be posted in the other anime and sci-fi forums. It's Yamato for sure, and it's defintely Macross. Let's wait and see! Anyone know what time Graham clocks in today?

Is it for sure that Van Damme is going to play Tin-Tin!!!!???? Can you post a link to the story? I got it out of a local martial arts magazine here in Australia, they quoted off the Boulevarde magazine. Don't know what mag that is though. On Sunday in my local paper, they say that Spielburg is indeed doing a Tintin trilogy.
-
Are they allowed? EDIT: Never mind, they say that the developers of Robotech are aware of the project. Is that enough though?
-
Yep, it's confirmed that Spielburg will make a few TinTin movies. A trilogy in fact including the Blue Lotus and Red Rackams Treasure, to star Snowy, Captain Haddock and Thomson and Thompson.

Colonel Sanders leads Robotech into 2004!

If they screwed up like they did with Robotech 3000 and The Sentinels, I promise that I am off Robotech for good. Let's wait see what HG and Tatsunoko can do. <_ -
This is so strange... I think I am alone in my appreciation for Van Damme. My roomate liked tin-tin as a kid and when I told him the Van Damme news I thought he would be pumped up. He said casting Van Damme as Tin-Tin would be like casting Dolph Lundgren as Charlie Brown. It's alright man, I enjoy his movies for his one-liners and his martial arts. My mates held a VanDammathon once Favourite one was Kickboxer: "You vant me to break my leeeg?! Like diiis?!"

Ok I just had time to read the whole article and now I really am not sure if this Tintin is going to be pulled off. First off Steven Spielburg is directing. WTF?! It's not even April fools day. That's what is happening according to the Boulevarde magazine anyway. Turns out that the two met back in August and SS gave Vandamme the nod to play as the comic book hero because VanDamme was also a fan. The gig will pay him $9 million. And if that wasn't enough (this is not definite) Gwyneth Paltrow and Jim Carey might be involved. Gee...I wonder what they are going to play. Jim Carey as Capt. Haddock? Paltrow as Madame Bianca? <_<
-
NO WAY!!!! That is AWESOME! Arer you all right man? Can you imagine VanDamme cast as TinTin in that build and that hairstyle? TinTin and VanDamme may both be from Brussels, but there is no way he can ever pull off that role. The series/movie is going to be a joke and a half!

I enjoyed Seagals earlier movies. Favourite was Nico: Above the Law. Story wasn't hot, then again no martial arts story is ever that hot, except for the rare little gems like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The more recent Seagal movies are a flop. I still enjoyed The Glimmerman and Exit Wounds though. Yeah he does have a big ego, but then there are some Post WWII Aikido styles that have some of the most arrogant bastards practising them. They're everywhere in martial arts, hell its not confined to Aikido...bloody Tai Chi Chuan students are a-holes too surprise surprise. God I thought this thread was about Van Damme more than anything else. Yeah he is a crap actor but I think that upcoming movie will be a damn sight better than what his next role will be. I thought you guys had heard, but obviously not so I'll tell ya. He's going to do a series or a movie I forgot, but he's going to be cast as the comic book character TinTin. <_<
-
Ah really? I only have the technical readouts...except for the one before 3025. That one was just a waste of money, to me exactly the same as the 3025 manual. Would you guys recommend the clan/successor states sourcebooks? I was planning on getting the lostech one next.

I don't think it was the same one. After graduating, Constance Kurita gave Theodore Kurita the Orion, it wasn't functional and was basically a shell found by explorers on some asteroid, but they rebuilt the mech into its fully functional working condition before they gave it to Theodore.
-
Thanks. Memory's back.

4. Orion (I could be mixing him up with his father, so long since I've read the books)

Best Japanese Live-Action Show of 2003
kensei replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Watch your language please Sunshine. A mod put that there. Anyway....back on topic, I liked Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. Geez...was that a laugh, plus they got some nice chicks to look at too. -
EDIT: bugger...I was thinking of Grayson Carlisle
-
I agree. Those reviews are great. Keep it up.

If you read the manual, it's an extra support piece for your valk when the FAST packs are attached in Battroid mode. It cannot be used in fighter or GERWALK mode. It fits in behind the back of the neck, helping to hold the backpack upright in Battroid mode.

Ahh man, that's nothing. I knew a girl that used to go to a martial arts place (Karate? Tae Kwon Do? I forget) where the head teacher used to make up forms to go along to music. Music like Welcome to the Danger Zone it was totally ridiculous and I laughed in her face when she told me about it. Also, Anubis, those wooden dummies are used in Wing Chun... usually cost around $800. Far more cost effective to beat up on a door way, thats what I used to do. They wouldn't have happened to play Kung Fu Fighting by BUs Stopp as well would they <_<
