If it's what I think you're saying it is, then that's no big deal. Just be sure that if you try to fold them that you pull the flap out then try folding it. It's really only for the full GPB battroid mode only armor as you'll need to be able to fold them for that. -Kyp

I kinda wish now that I had waited till the new 1/60 VF-1 series had been out for a while before posting this. I have a feeling that the votes would have turned out a bit differently. -Kyp

Before you try doing anything else : STOP. Read the instruction manual. Read it again. If there's anything you're not sure of, ask here. -Kyp

Macross Frontier Episode 19 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
Kyp Durron replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
No, it wouldn't. -Kyp -
Prepare yourself to be blown away, that's all I can say, lol. -Kyp

All I can say is look at the pictures of the completed model and the 1/60 and judge for yourself... -Kyp

^I agree, as awesome as my Roy 1S non FP is, if they don't post, their votes are toast. BTW, both skulls on my non fast pack Roy are so straight, that if they're off at all, it's beyond my ability to notice. And as detail-anal as I am, that's really saying something. Congrats Yamato, you've finally learned how to put the skulls on straight, too bad it took you over 5 years to get it right on the VF-1 series... -Kyp

Considering that's the 1/72 model and not the DX, I'm not worried. -Kyp

Glad to see you finally got yours! It's a very solid bird, and I foresee this new VF-1 line selling VERY, VERY well. -Kyp

I can now give my own answer : The new V2 1/60 Roy VF-1S stand alone version. It has everything I loved about the 1/48 Hikaru 1J that I had and nothing that I didn't like. (Lack of tampo markings, low hanging arms in fighter mode, needing a lot of display space, seam down the middle of the battroid's face, thruster detail that splits in two in battroid mode, etc...) It has a better balance appearance-wise in all three modes as well and locks up even tighter in all three modes than the 1/48 as well. -Kyp

LOL..you're welcome, but as I said in that thread, I only did it because the left side edge of the left rear view mirror inside the cockpit rubbed off a small dot of the finish. But since I now have a clear canopy Roy 1S, I'm debating if I'm gonna have to do this to any other Valk I get to keep it consistant... Just be careful with how much the sides of those rear view mirrors rub the inside of the canopy, otherwise you're gonna have the same small dot rubbed off on yours too. -Kyp

Don't like the rainbow coating on the V2 1/60 VF-1 canopy?
Kyp Durron replied to Kyp Durron's topic in The Workshop!
You know, a thought occurred to me... Some mods can either add value or take value away, but I think my mod actually added value to it as it's THE ONLY V2 Valk with a clear canopy as opposed to the regular rainbow coating. And I know there's quite a few that would rather have one with a clear canopy. -Kyp -
Don't like the rainbow coating on the V2 1/60 VF-1 canopy?
Kyp Durron replied to Kyp Durron's topic in The Workshop!
Nope, the Tamiya acrylic paint thinner doesn't fog the plastic. And while that was definitely a concern, I just couldn't stand seeing the spot where the rainbow coating was rubbed off by the side mirrors inside the canopy. After a half hour of trying to overlook it, I couldn't stand it no more. -Kyp -
http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=27223 For those of you who don't like the rainbow coating on your canopies... -Kyp

Then do something about it! <img src="http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> Now, it should be said upfront that I actually liked the rainbow coating but the corner of the left "rear view mirror" in the cockpit rubbed the inside of the canopy and rubbed off a small spot off the rainbow coating and it made it look like a dark spot. This bugged the piss out of me until I got brave and decided to remove the coating entirely. Here's what you need : 1. Some Q-Tips 2. A bottle of Tamiya acrylic paint thinner 3. A big pair of brass balls. First, remove the pilot from the canopy. Remove the fuselage and hold it upside down with the canopy open and grab a Q-Tip and dip it in the acrylic paint thinner. Now for the important part : BE VERY CAREFUL not to get any of this on any part of the black canopy paint. This stuff WILL remove the paint!!!! With that in mind, rub the Q-Tip on the inside of the canopy while holding the removed fuselage upside down. You will also want to brace the canopy with one of your fingers to prevent snapping the canopy off when applying force as your rubbing the wet Q-Tip inside the canopy. This is going to take a few minutes, so be patient. The thinner WILL wear the finish off, just keep rubbing and if necessary, re-dip the Q-Tip to keep it wet. Once you think you've removed all the rainbow coating, you can either take part of a wet washcloth and some soap and clean the thinner off the inside of the canopy or even use another Q-Tip and wet it and use soap. If after you dry it you still see some of the coating remaining, you can repeat the process. Now, if you should accidentally remove some of the black paint from the canopy, you can try using Tamiya Black Acrylic paint to touch it up. Now for a couple of pics : As you can see, it works great! On the first pic, the blue on the rear of the canopy is the screen from my computer, FYI. So if you're not a fan of the rainbow coating on the canopies of these new 1/60 VF-1's, or you're like me and found that part of the inside of the cockpit rubbed off a small spot, you can indeed do something about it! One last thing : I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR VALK SHOULD YOU FRAK IT UP!!! -Kyp

I put the Lieut. K. Warmaker decals on the canopy on mine just to be different, lol. I'm probably just about the only one here that's done it. -Kyp
-
Have you tried emailing or calling them about this? I'm sure if you told them about this, they might be able to check on it. -Kyp
-
My shoulders were fine when I checked mine, I can see where that part is of some concern, but like others have said, as long as you brace that shoulder piece when moving the arms, it should be just fine. I'm certainly not gonna worry about mine. -Kyp
-
So are they going to be actually doing the 1/100 line? -Kyp
-
Actually, if I remember right, VF-1 wise in DRYL Max only flew a 1A and then a 1S while Hikaru and Roy were in enemy hands. *Edit* You're right Chow, Hikaru also never flew a 1A in the T.V. series. -Kyp
-
^I agree completely with you. I've only considered two of those votes valid for that reason. -Kyp
-
He was flying the 1S in the DRYL movie when he died, and in the T.V. series, he was in battle and got his plane shot up pretty good and died a while later after landing from blood loss. Roy flew with FP's in the movie, but never in the T.V. series. Hikaru flew Roy's 1S in the T.V. series after he died and later flew it with FP's. In the movie, Hikaru was flying a 1A at the time and in the T.V. series he was flying the white 1J when Roy died. I'm sorry to say, but with the way Yamato is pumping these bad boys out and with their history for milking molds, you might be in for a rude awakening. -Kyp
-
I'm sitting here gazing at my Roy 1S and can't help but try to imagine just how badass a 1J Stealth and 1A Low vis 1 would look in this new mold. -Kyp

Added my thumbs up vote, who voted the 9th broken vote? -Kyp

Was I right, or was I right? Ain't it awesome? All hail the new 1/60 VF-1 Overlords!!! -Kyp
