  1. I've actually never liked the Orson. I know it's popular but aesthetically I've just never liked the color scheme. I'll keep hoping for a reissue of the first.
  2. I came for SDF-1 updates and got another reminder of bummed I am about missing out on that Orgroid. Ugh. Anyway, back on topic - the box looks glorious. This is still set for a March release, right?
  3. Got mine yesterday and I like it well enough. For me a lot of the fun came from checking out a new toy by a company that never did Macross before. The finished product isn't as refined as what we're used to, but that's to be expected I think. I don't think it's too light (feels just as heavy as a similarly sized Arcadia/Bandai toy to me), I don't think it feels like a model kit and I don't think it feels like a Banpresto toy. I think part of the 'cheap' perception is due to the plastic not having as nice of a finish as we get from Bandai/Arcadia. It's more raw, some of the edges are sharper and less polished. It'll require a bit of care during transforming because of a couple areas with small screws/pins and thin plastic, but I'm used to that. Fighter mode doesn't lock up as tight as an Arcadia or Bandai DX but I wouldn't really call it a floppy mess, either. Once the tabs are all in place it holds up to swooshing and barrel rolls and that's all I need it to do. If you enjoy shaking your toys you'll probably be disappointed. Battroid is great, super solid, arms have nice double-jointed elbows and clicky joints. The hips are restricted when fully locked into place but you can make some adjustments to get a wider range and it will stand solidly. Lastly if the pink/ultraviolet tinted white plastic we've been seeing on products recently bothers you, you wont like this.
  4. According to my tracking info from AmiAmi mine was shipped at 8:15PM last night and cleared Chicago customs at 10:46am this morning. Looks like they're using fold boosters for international mail now.
  5. If it's made of cheese I hope it at least melts nicely because I'd like to put it on a pizza, maybe even a nice lasagna.
  6. Paid for mine at AmiAmi, I suppose I'll get it on Monday. Haven't gone into a high end Macross purchase blind like this since Bandai started the DX Frontier line. Hopefully it's a better experience than that...

Anyone need a MIB armored VF-1J before I toss it on ebay?
  8. Letting go of some things. PM if you're interested or want photos. Everything has been handled carefully and lovingly, is in excellent condition unless otherwise noted, complete in package. I wont ship outside of the US. Note about packaging: I have noticed that there seems to be a greater number of people now that are extremely picky about toy package condition. While I don't beat on my boxes or manhandle them, I have never been someone to really inspect them in great detail as I consider them just something to hold the toy & accessories. To my eyes the boxes for these look 'fine' unless they have big obvious dents (as noted below). In short, if you are really anal about packaging you should probably just look elsewhere. Macross $20 - CMs Roy figure (clear hair) $20 - Banpresto VF-1: Roy Fokker colors Transformers / 3rd Party $125 - Master Made Titan (Super-Deformed Metroplex): This didn't come with batteries and I never installed any since they aren't the standard LR44, so I can't tell you whether or not the lights work. $40 - SenTiNel transformable Optimus Prime Pen: MIB $40 - TFC Targetroids Megashoton (Megatron) and Optiaim (Optimus): MIB $20 - Fansproject Sidearm with gold chrome wing attachments for Protector: MIB Star Wars $20 - Disney Elite diecast 7" Finn (opened but comes with box, unless you don't want the box) $20 - Disney Elite diecast 7" Stormtrooper (opened but comes with box, unless you don't want the box) Misc: $20 - MOTUC Moss Man - Loose & Complete with both heads $30 - SenTiNel 1/35 Mechatro WeGo - White version: MIB SOLD $100 - Robotech/Matchbox 1/35 Blue Alpha (some yellowing on the front) SOLD $50 - CMs 1/18 Mospeada Ride Armor/Cylcone Stig/Scott version (this has a broken windshield like most of them, can be glued, I never bothered)
  9. I've actually never noticed any downgrade in plastic or build quality between Yamato and Arcadia VF-1s. On the contrary, Arcadia VF-1 toys seem to be a bit more refined and smoother to transform. Based on that and the far superior Arcadia VF-0 (hip issues are nothing compared to all of the issues on the Yamato) I have no worries whatsoever about the VF-4. I fully expect it to be identical to the Yamato, if not slightly refined.
  10. That's where I've been, that's where I'm at and that's where I'll stay.
  11. Thanks for the tips, david!
  12. Thanks. I guess I'll just have to open it up and see why it's stuck. I know there are screws holding the hip parts together, but are they glued as well? Sorry if this has been answered in the past, it's a big thread and I didn't see the info after skimming. ::EDIT:: Found your tutorial CY, I'll use that as a guide.
  13. I've transformed and posed mine a number of times with no problems over the last few months, but I've never utilized the extending hip joints. Tonight I tried extending them and one of them wont pull out at all. Is that a sign that I've got an impending hip explosion? Would it be advisable to just take the hip apart and see what's going on in there?
  14. Oh wow, I stopped following this thread early on when this was thought to be cruiser mode only. Now that I see it's transformable I've got it preordered. Been waiting for a TV SDF-1 for years. Partsforming sucks but whatever.

I have to pick at mine to get them off. The only thing loose on mine is the fists that are on the arm armor. They wobble a bit.

That's another complaint I've read a few times that isn't an issue on mine. The side missles (assuming you mean the ones on the hips) are rock solid. :/

Same here, no sagging backpack on my GBP 1J.

I don't think there has ever been a production toy with 100% perfect consistency, there's always going to be a few samples here and there with one problem or another. Damn humans!

I like how both look, I never said I can't tell any difference. Sorry I don't share your scorn. The feet aren't crooked on mine.

Fighter mode looks great to me, no better or worse than Arcadia's. *shrug*

Got my GBP today and love it. I'm having more fun with this one than the Arcadia GBP, mostly because this one is just easier to handle due to the size and the fact that the armor stays on more securely. Arcadia's is beautiful but it's really not much fun to handle and pose because armor pieces fall of easily, especially the chest which is held in place mostly by wishes. I'm happy to have both. The Arcadia can stand there looking wonderful, the Bandai can go 'pew! pew!' and 'swoosh! swoosh!' - and also look wonderful doing it.

    Bandai 1/35 DX VF-1

According to MW Member Jarrod who was there to see it in person, it only 'looks' finished, but it's actually an early prototype with all of the joints just sculpted to look the way they do, but they aren't actually functioning joints.

    Bandai 1/35 DX VF-1

Fantastic! So good to see the whole thing in better lighting. It's beautiful.

    Bandai 1/35 DX VF-1

Thanks for the photo, I added it to the first post. I love the rivet detailing, really lends a lot of visual dynamics to show what a big machine/toy this is. Hopefully we'll see more than the leg soon.
