  1. Very nice. Qui-Gon in the Clone Wars is one of those "now I can die happy" things for me. That's really sad isn't it?
  2. Considering I don't like Catwoman, Anne Hathaway or Bane I can't say I'm excited - but the quality of the last two will help me set aside my dislikes.
  3. I'd like to see it with an Enterprise on one arm and a star destroyer on the other for the trifecta of sci-fi geekery goodness.
  4. Probably the same exact thing they think when they see every other robot toy: not much at all. This thing really isn't that enormous. Now the new AT-AT toy from Star Wars, that's a truly big toy. I'm happy to hear all the good reports and sales on this thing because it means I'm one step closer to getting the TV version.
  5. Sorry, I often forget how serious this hobby is supposed to be.
  6. I'm guessing Galvatron will be next. Can't say I'd be particularly excited for a MP Galvatron or Shockwave but it'll at least be interesting to see the designs they come up with for their alt modes.
  7. It looks good without the engines, but I can't say I think it looks better - just different. Then again I've liked this design from the beginning so clearly something is wrong with my tastes and outlook on life.
  8. Excellent photos! I think the Hi-Metal is the most photo-friendly VF-1 toy to date with its detail and small easy-to-shoot size. Between being so photogenic and so much fun to transform and pose this VF-1 has gotten far, far more play time than any of the other versions I've owned. I don't regret selling off my Yamato VF-1 toys for a second.
  9. I don't know about "best", but here's my "favorites". 1) Anime Series/Film/OVA that aired this year. Didn't watch anything new this year, so I'll step outside of anime (only just barely) and say Symbionic Titan. It doesn't really offer anything new, but it still manages to have a fresh and exciting vibe while hanging on to the classic "monster of the week" funk. 2) Science Fiction Film Splice. Not a film for everyone, but the only scifi movie this year that didn't seem overly cheesy and intellectually boring to me. My favorite 'brainless' and fun scifi film of 2010 is actually Resident Evil 4. Oddly it's the best one of all 4 so far. 3) TV Series BBC's Sherlock starring Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch. Simply an excellent and thrilling show. I loved the RDJ film, but this series beats it in every single way. My only complaint is that it's so short and that the cliffhanger ending of season 1 wont be resolved until this fall... 4) PC/Video Game Lego Harry Potter. I can't justify this beyond saying I like Harry Potter and I have a completely insatiable love of the Lego action/adventure games (Batman is my favorite). This year Lego Clone Wars and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean are coming out so I've got a lot to look forward to. 5) Consumer Electronic Nekobot flash drive from CollectionDX's Alen Yen. My consumption of consumer electronics doesn't extend very far. 6) Toy/Model/Action Figure/Plushie/Nendoroid or whatever... Eek...way too many to choose from. I'll break it up into categories: Japanese "High-End" toy - Yamato's VF-11C Domestic "High-End" toy - Hasbro's AT-AT Japanese General Robot toy - Bandai's SD Infinity VF-25 Domestic General Robot toy - Transformers Animated Rodimus Grey-area-3rd Party robot toy - Knight Morpher Annihalator from MasterMind Creations Japanese Plastic Crack - Lupin III Revoltech Domestic Plastic Crack - Clone Wars Embo
  10. Blurr is the only recent TF I haven't seen anywhere. Yesterday I found the Cyclonus/Hot Rod 2-pack. While I love the deco on both, they both suffer from various QC problems. Cyclonus had one shoulder not fully snapped together, which caused the wing to not fold properly (easily fixed). On his other shoulder they used a screw that was too big for the swing bar and it keeps the part from staying on (not so easily fixed, surgery pending). Hot Rod is perfect...except for the long streak of yellow paint right on the front of his windshield. Normally that wouldn't bother me and I'd just grab the rubbing alcohol but since it's paint on top of paint... *sigh* Other than that he's great and oddly his side panels line up much better than they do on the original one I have. The comic book is fun, especially the typos. In one panel Kup calls Tracks "Warpath" and in a later panel he calls Tracks "Lugnut". Or maybe that was intentional, like a grandfather cycling through his grandkids names until he gets the right one.
  11. Yes, a variable fighter with different wings than previous ones marks the end of Macross.
  12. I'm sure it'll be cheesy, silly and dimwitted. At least I hope it will be because that's precisely what I expect from pirate movies.
  13. I can see that point - I suppose "29" suggests an entirely new craft rather than just a new set of wings (and likely a head). Regardless of the name, I'm still waiting to see battroid before I throw my full support behind it.
  14. I like it. Actually I like fighter mode better than the 25 and 27. Not sure why it's being ridiculed for being a slight variant of the 25, I thought slight variations were part of what Macross mechs were all about. The VF-1 got all kinds of different heads, this one is getting different wings. Big deal. Looks cool to me.
  15. Yeah, the flight mode is so lame it may as well not be there at all. They could have, at the very least, given him a pair of clip-on wings that could have attached nicely to the posts where the side rockets clip to. Instead we got akwardly opening doors with dinky wing nubs that look more like an unofficial "fan mode" than any kind of real flight mode. But still, I'm happy to finally have tracks. I also realized that his hip articulation was hindered because I didn't have his head/shoulder area pulled up far enough. >_<
  16. Nice to see I'm not the only one who plants robots in their wife's Xmas display. Mine are typically planted wearing a santa hat "disguise". Found a Tracks today. Aside from the dreadful tribal tattoos on his hood and his hips being limited by his windshield/chest, he's pretty cool. Of the two new car guys I prefer Jazz.
  17. Oh indeed. While I think a lot of Star Wars names sound silly or cheesy, that's part of the fun for me. I prefer names like "Skywalker" over the trying-too-hard "sci-fi" names. If I'm reading a sci-fi novel and some ridiculous unpronouncable name like Kz'Kerzzzghlz shows up it takes me out of the story far more than a Savage Oppress would.
  18. I finally found one today. Only one on the peg, and even though it looked like the toy was crushed inside the package I decided to take my chances. Luckily the problem was that the toy just wasn't pegged together properly so when it got put into the bubble it went all frobbly. Aside from that and some slightly angled Decep. insignias on the wings, I got a nearly perfect specimen. No horrible sprue marks, no loose joints and all of the paint is remarkably crisp and clean with no slop anywhere. Even the tiny Decep. insignia on his chest is crisp and perfectly aligned. I don't think any of the last dozen TFs I bought had paint work as neat as this. My one nitpick is a personal preference one: I'm disappointed that the wings are held on by rivets because I was hoping to unpeg them and swap them for bot mode so the tops of the wings are visible from the front. Not a big deal, just a tiny "aw shucks" for an otherwise excellent figure - possibly my favorite incarnation of this seeker sculpt so far.
  19. And how about Darth Vader? Really? What, does he invade things? And what's with this Sidious fellow? Let me guess, he's insidious? Is Maul going to maul me? And what about Tyrannus? He couldn't be...tyrannical, could he? My point is is that "Savage Oppress" doesn't sound any more or less silly to me than any other Sith name. None of them are very inspired.
  20. Dry your tears, boys. Not one single senate scene for the rest of the season. http://tv.ign.com/articles/113/1138851p1.html
