  1. Oh one last thing: Since Peter has to think about how he feels when he met someone special to use their power, if he doesn't know they have a power, he can't use it. In other words, since he is unaware of Sylar's cyrokinesis power, he's not able to use it, even if he has it in him.

Theoretically, Peter could have tons of powers he is unaware of due to having casually passing people who had powers.

Also, Simone's father HAS to be involved in this somehow... It just seems too coincidental otherwise.

  2. I'm guessing the new girl had some sort of lie detection or telepathy ability. Bennett's boss was obviously testing him.

You're reading too much into it. According to 9th Wonder, she's a hottie with an un-glamourous ability. According to NBC she's an illusive hero.

I rewatched last weeks ep. Can't believe I missed this line:

"I believe in fate, karma and I'm not just saying that because you're Indian, Mohinder."

For whatever reason, I find it funny.

They definitely have to kill Sylar off this season. According to the promo pics, Sylar gets to see the map and the list on Mohinder's computer. With his memory, that means unless a whole lot of people are going to die, or else he has to die. Secondly, I think Claire will die at some point in this season. Just a feeling.

I'm excited! A Peter vs Sylar faceoff!

  3. From what I've seen, it's the gayest thing since gay came to gaytown. It makes dragonball z look like quality. I honestly don't see why these series go on for so long.

I like Naruto. It's got a nice message and a relatively interesting plot, but by all that is holy AVOID the fillers. Seriously, it detracted so much from the series that I think they would have been better off not making the fillers.

  4. This is how a superhero franchise should be done! Powerful, compelling. I hope it stays this awesome for its five season run! How can you not feel for all of the characters??? This is way better than "Lost" was at its best.

I just rewatched it again, and damn it hits hard still. When Claire's hugging HRG and the music swells up and then the choirs' hum chimes in... powerful! HRG rules!

Matt finally redeems himself as a character. I glad they finally went somewhere with him. It took a long time in the building, but for such a climax, it was worth it!

Too many storylines that are running along. I wonder what the Niki, DL, and Micah storyline climax will be like??? You know there's got to be one. They just took care of the Peter one, this was HRG and Claire. That leaves them and Hiro as the remaining resolution. I'm going to hate the end of the season and waiting for season 2!

  5. Holy crap that was an awesome episode! I teared up at the end. That was an awesome performance! The music was perfect. The question is where does it go from here??? This is the best episode yet! And we got a look at the organization.

Does Sulu know about Hiro??? What will happen when Hiro finds out?

  6. If this is going to be out by the summer, I think you can kiss a Toynami Tread good-bye. First of all, this tread looks awesome compared to the Toynami one. Secondly, its going into production already so the market share for Toynami is going to be smaller. If Toynami is still trying to gauge interest... well this would pretty much guarantee that there won't be enough interest. Just my opinions.

BTW I do like the overall look of both the tread and legioss. It is indeed more anthromorphic than Toynami's version.

  7. I think you misunderstand me... the comparison to star wars comes from the very western idea of breaking down a drama into three chunks.

The First Act you introduce all the characters (Star Wars)

The Second Act you put them into a hopless situation they can never get out of (Empire)

And in the Third Act they get out (ROTJ)

What I'm saying is we've only seen the first act of the story. And it had it's own begging, middle and end...

In Star Wars you had the Empire preparing to wipe out the Rebel base and bring an end to the only effective resistance... and you had a handful of people with the key to saving the alliance racing against insurmountable odds in the hopes of finding a way to save them, at the end the Death Star is destroyed and the alliance is safe for now... but the Empire is still out there.

In TSC you have the one ship which gathers all the key information about the aliens and they have to sort it out and try to figure out a way to stope the human race from being totally slaughtered. They succede, through a lot of Dues ex, and wipe out the Haydonite fleet... humanity is safe for now but has 1 years worth of power, and the Haydonites are still out there.

Star Wars is of course way better, the emotional development it a lot stronger within a shorter period of time. Mostly because they focused on a smaller cast of core characters. Really you only had Han, Luke, Leia and Obi-wan... and maybe Chewie if you count him.

Here you have, Vince, Jean, Louis, Marcus, Alex, Scott, Ariel, Rick... and even Marlene could be considered a core character of the movie despite being dead. it was just spread too thinly.

The other thing you have to realize is we're essentially watching three epiodes of a TV series each with it's own seperate mini-climax... and we're still in the rising action of the plot.

And as for the pilot excuse... it's a little lame yeah, but it's as much as what they said on the DVD... they wanted to get the story into fans hands so that they had a product out there that was succesful before going to the TV stations so the stations would have to let them do it their way. As a Buisness student, I don't think it was the wisest move... but it's the move a couple of fanboys like Tommy and Steve might make, so it's probably the case.

Why should the transformation be intense or mind blowing? it should be simple and fuctional... I don't see the military going "oh let's add as much Pizzaz as possible". M0's transformations and action were so over the top that they got boring... I was like, okay let's get back to the main guy and the tribal chick talking about bird people. The Entire Fokker sub-plot was unncessary, it's like "oh wow let's put Roy in there, cause that would be teh awesome"

And yeah they held off on telling use the final fate of Rick Hunter, that's the whole point it's supposed to give the audience something to look foward too.

I don't think Macross Zero should be getting the bashing it did, I liked it, aside from about the last 5 minutes. The whole Protoculture test was a neat idea.

If I thought it was a bad pilot I'd have to disagree with you... it's got problems being from a mainly untested creative team, which I hope they can resolve. But I think it's promising enough to make me look foward to part 2.

Please explain how Ariel is any better? Both shows had an overly-big does of Deus Ex.

Anyway RTSC has a LOT of problems... I'm not saying it's a masterpiece I'm saying it was fun, and that a future series has potential. But I'd take any Macross project over it... even 2.

    Edit:

See this is a mistake people make all the time... Animation reffers to how something MOVES, hence the word to be animated. and that in TSC is a lot more consitent then in Macross. it's not a matter of the designs... Sailor Moon has good solid designs but suffers from poor animation with lots of stock footage. Also the quality of Designs is completely subjective... Does Simpsons have crappy designs? maybe, maybe not but it's what the artist was going for.

Animation can be judged at an objective level, "this shot the animation is very choppy". Design work can not, "oh this design looks so cool".

Also Robotech didn't dimminsh the animation at all... maybe the video quality was a little lowered which has been fixed up quite a bit on the DVD. but that has to do with the quality of the masters more then anything. But when it was shown it still moved the same way.

The only problem with the designs, was that some of the animators either got lazy or rushed too much while painting them and they looked squashed at time. Think when Hikaru see's Kakizaki while trying to write the letter to his family.

    You're trying too hard.

    Thou doth protest too much.

  8. Did Peter ever meet Eden? In "Collisions", Peter goes to meet Mohinder. I can't remember if Eden was present or not. On top of it Eden was the next door neighbor. How close does he have to be to absorb people's powers?

Reason I asked is because when Peter uses his TK to push Isaac back, his voice changed. I didn't know if that was to reflect Eden's powers or not.

Who's more powerful? Peter or Sylar? The answer should be Peter since as soon as he meets Sylar, he'll have all of Sylar's abilities, but Sylar won't have any of his. On top of it, Peter's got TK, healing, invisibility, mind reading and time manipulation. Sylar's screwed. He's only got TK, cyrogenesis, eidetic memory, cyrogenesis, super hearing, and tactile molecular manipulation. It's going to be pretty hard for Sylar to take Peter down with only TK and cyrogenesis being ranged offensive powers.

Peter might go bad for a whiles, but not permanently. There's no reason why Future Hiro would collaborate with him if he was truly bad forever.

Can't wait for next week to see the Bennet showdown!

  9. I really dont understand why pll say the graphic isnt good. Even if it was the case, the story is good, the characters are good, and personaly, i love the graphics too.

You're absolutely right. The graphics isn't good. It's downright hideous. The fact that the CG renders are not even as good as the amateur renders done by many MW members (go check them out for yourself) speaks to the amount of effort they put into the movie.

Story? Funny, I thought stories have a plot. That would include some premise, a climax, and a denouement. What was the premise again? The Haydonites are the children of the shadow and they are out to get everybody I guess would be the premise. The climax I guess would be the blowing up of the space station. But wait how does the two resolve each other? They don't. in fact they really have nothing to do with each other because at the end of the movies, the Haydonites are still out there and they are still out to get everybody. That's right, there's no denouement.

Generic character designs with overly muscular men, and gargantuan breast women. And then they go and cheat by only animating their mouths to simulate speech and save on cost.

M0 had a crappy story. SC has no story.

    I don't know what's worse?

M0 had characters that look and move naturally. SC had automatrons.

    M0 wins.

M0 had innovative mechanical designs. SC had rehashes of 20+ year old designs.

    M0 wins.

M0 had awesome battle sequences. SC has bland battle sequences but more of them proportionately.

M0 wins because I'll take quality over quantity any day.

The bottom line, both are bad, but compared to SC M0 is golden. If all you want to see is old beloved mechanical designs in action again and lots of action, but no story, SC is for you. Not necessarily unenjoyable for what it is, but lackluster for what it strives to be.

  10. Wrong, the issues of the collapsing feet and the loose elbows and shoulders have been addressed in most of them. The only thing that hasn't been addressed is the fragility of the shoulder piece due to it being relatively thin for it's work.

As someone mentioned, it's the shoulders. I don't want that will break. Fact of the matter is I am plenty pleased with all the Yammies I own right now. Well worth their cost.

  11. I agree with the "if you're not happy with Yamato, don't buy their toys" bit. I haven't bought their toys in years... I only recently bought 2 new 1/48 VF-1's. These are far from the first generation Hikaru I had that I wasn't too pleased with for minor details.

I was going to buy the VF-0A, but decided not to since the problems have not been addressed from the VF-0S. You DON'T have to buy every first release. I never do! But in the end I still get nice toys that do not have QC or design issues and usually for much less than original releases. It's the "I've got to own it right NOW " and the "I've got to own EVERY version" mentality that is the cause of so much grief. And you know what? If people stop buying first releases, I guarantee you'll see an increase in QC as well as a lowering of the prices.

  12. Sylar's ability is to figure out how things work. His stealing powers is an indirect result of his power (he kills someone, figures out how they do what they do and modifies himself).

After last night's episode and the fact that Bennet's people only ever found the TK, I suspect that Sylar can only use one power at a time. He has to re-configure his brain to switch (no indication of how long this takes though).

Not according to the latest graphi novel.

  13. For a guy who can hear others thoughts, Matt sure is a schmuck! I think it would be cool if Matt realizes what a loser he is and sprials down the dark path such that Season 2 is him as the major villain. Because seriously, he's the least interesting character on the series. He hasn't grown since day 1!

White guy shows up at my door.

    "Hi, I'm Mohinder Suresh."

"You don't look Indian to me."

    Slams door on his face.

Seriously was it me or did anyone not find that really funny? That's like this one time a white dude stole my credit card and used it. It had the little photo of me in the corner as a security measure. He signed my name. I don't know how he could have gotten away with it when he obviously looks nothing Asian like, and sure as hell wouldn't have my very non-Western name.

Lastly, I'm wondering if Peter is able to keep other's abilities because he met Sylar? After all that IS Sylar's ability. He just incorporates them into him reflexively. Ultimately, the problem with this is Peter is going to be the damn most powerful person in the show. Sylar is already pretty damn powerful (which he needs to be as a villain).

  14. I got one of the original 1/48 VF-1A Hikaru's when it first came out and I assure you after being displayed all this time it is the same shade as my brand new VF-1S I just got. My 1/60 VF-1A Hikaru on the other hand show some yellowing. And my Toynami 1/55 VF-1 Dixon is majorly yellow (kind of funny since I just read one Toynami lover saying that Yammie lovers' claim that Toynami uses cheap plastic is unfounded).

  15. Wow, I just saw Shadow Chronicles. A few comments:

I feel asleep the first time I watched it. It was really boring. It's like all action and no plot... In other words your typical Hollywood fare. Unlike Hollywood, the action sequences suck. No eye candy here.

Alex Romero should get his eyes checked... he keeps having this tic like thing going on with his eyes. Actually its his entire face later on. A poor attempt at facial gesticulation. and oddly the only character to have any facial gesticulation.

Vince Grant is really stupid. If I didn't know better, I'd almost say that its playing off a certain social stereotype, but that would be so last century. Claudia was always protrayed as being highly competent.

Vince: "Helmsman, follow Dr. Nichols calculations to the letter."

Nichols: "Actually there aren't any letters, they're all numbers."

After an explosive rocking of the ship.

    Vince: "What was that?"

Nichols: "It appears we are under attack."

    While interviewing Bernard.

Intercom: "Sir, we've lost communications with Space Station Liberty."

    Reinhardt: "Dammit!"

Vince: "I guess the interrogation is over."

After being teleport by Ariel to the bridge.

Vince: "Does she do that a lot?"

The dialogue is horrendous. The voice acting is overly melodramatic. They are trying too hard.

The animation is laughable. Most of the time, the character is completely motionless except for their mouths moving to simulate speech.

I was looking forward to the musical score, but while certainly not bad, I don't think its all that memorable either. No better or worse than any musical score from you typical action blockbuster movie.

The vehicles look like papercraft. Seriously. They should have just ask Kin to finish his and then they can use it as miniature models and save on all the CG. Also the movement of the vehicles are too... perfect. There's no sense of realism in them. The only reason the last battle sequence is even exciting is that even though the vehicles do very little, the camera pans all over the place to yield a sense of action.

Over all a "Meh" experience. I've certainly seen worst movies. But not many. The only reason to watch this is to see some beloved vehicle designs in action again.

PS: Holy crap! You guys weren't kidding when you said EVERY single female character had huge tits. It was disturbing after a while... Too much of a good thing! Ariel had hers hanging out of barely large enough... uh cups... for the latter half.

  16. you probably didn't push the trap door with the hook in far enough. here's a pic to show what i mean. maybe that will help.

I'm not sure what you are referring to... the hook is attach but the backplate trap door won't stick the the back plate itself. the trap door and the backpack are flopping backwards. Also the forward missle section of the boosters don't seem to stay together very well...

    Thanks for the fast response!

    vinnie

  17. Just got my first FP kit and I put it on the Roy, but it seems the backpack isn't strong enough to hold up the boosters in battroid mode, even with the backpack hook. But everyone else I see seems to have no problem. Anything I can do to make it not flop back?
