  1. They are on the way.....From Valkyrie exhange.com....

Macross Saga Destroids and Enemy Mecha

Toynami will be releasing Destroids and Zentradi enemy mecha using the existing molds that were also used by Matchbox and Playmates Robotech and Exosquad line, respectively.  These figures stand about 5 inches in height and are made of ABS plastic. No changes are planned for these molds; however, Toynami plans to improve the paint job for its' versions of these figures.  The company also has access to the Robotech action figures molds but indicated that if it decided to produce action figures, the designs would be brand new.   MSRP prices are to be announced at a later date.

Draging this off-topic, but then all value has been extracted anyway and we're into "me too"-ism, but are you sure about that?

Weren't we informed that the molds were simply too degraded and the project "on hold" aka dead?

BoK is a little slow. You'll have to excuse him.

Toynami formally announced the cancellation of the re-release of the old Matchbox toys due to deterioration of the molds many moons back. If you consider the Exo-Squad release, you know this is a crock of crap. They didn't want to release the toys because they saw the lack of interest as well as the backlash in publicity.

  2. Anyone know which CD's have the most Mylene vocals?

Well, you can always check out the Musical CD section of MW.... ;)

Anyways, I believe the "Friends" album features Mylene without Basara. And the Mylene Jenius Sings Lynn Minmay album is exclusively Mylene but only with the songs that Mari did as Lynn Minmay.

  3. Surprised this hasn't been mentioned here in case anyone is even remotely interested. In my utter boredom, I paid a visit to the RT.com Macross forum, but a news blurb caught my eye. So apparently HG has decided to release a remastered version of RT that will included extended footage from the original series. The audio will also be remixed in 5.1 Dobly Surround. I do believe that there is mayhem in the RT forums due to the previous annoucements by ADV that RT cannot be remastered nor can the audio be remixed. So basically all the fans that bought the legacy sets are screwed.

Me, personally? I don't think this set will sell very well. I might just pick it up once it goes on discount which shouldn't be more than 2 months from release. After all I did grow up on RT. Call it morbid humor.

  4. (of course for real life, nothing's better than a blue-eyed redhead)

Any photos David? Where I come from, a gal like that will be worshipped as a goddess! :D Better yet, bring 'er over! :p:lol:

heh, blue eyes are nice but green eyes rule. You know that vivd green that contrasts so nicely with the fiery red?

  5. ...big boobs

No. I've said this many times... Anything larger than one hand can grab is a waste. :D

Ho man! Mechmaster, she's looks promising even at this stage... you gotta finish her. I for one, am looking forward to it!

what if I have King Kong sized hands?

    vinnie

Then my friend, the lady must also be as anatomically proportionate in every part of her body, in terms of size, to your King Kong sized hands. Not just the boobs. I'd shudder to think if she's not.

But then she would have to be a gorilla like me.... :(

On Topic: That's an awesome valkgirl! I didn't think a CG version would look good, but you have proven me wrong.

  7. My 1/60 hikaru has yellowed also. The head and the biceps only. I am painting them white and then i am going to spray all my valks with a UV resistant spray acrylic that I bought from an art store.

    Good luck

really? What is the stuff called? That should definitely prevent yellowing.

    vinnie

  8. all plastic yellows over time. It is inevitable. The rate of yellowing can be controlled however. Sunlight isn't that bad. Fluorescent lighting is worse, but in the end ALL forms of lighting will induce yellowing. To make yellowing slow to a crawl you could lock it up in a dark closet never to be seen again. Even then it will still yellow, albeit extremely slowly. The only one true way to stop yellowing? To lock your valk in a light proof chest and flood it with nitrogen or any of the inert gases...

The good thing is that the yellowing is a surface effect, meaning that any surface that is exposed to light and air gets oxidized and yellows, but only on the surface. That's why any type of abrasion will get rid of yellowing. Many of the "whitening" compounds will also work by fully oxidizing the plastic. Problem with this is that if the piece you are working with is thin, it'll make it pretty brittle.

Clear coating the plastic will protect the valk against air oxidation but not UV. I'm sure it'll help against UV to some degree but unless your clear coat totally absorbs UV (akin to sunblock) the plastic can still yellow.

  9. Daredevil sucked because Ben "The Chin" Affleck was in it. All he does is go around yelling in a manner akin to Keanu Reeves going around looking confused and dazed and call it acting. Daredevil could have been more. I sure hope that if they ever make a sequel, they axe Affleck.

As for this trailer it looks pretty good to me. As long as Jane can pull off the role, the movie should be good. Travolta worries me though. Couldn't they have hired someone else as the villain?

  10. I'll be disguised as the muggle parent of a young Hogwarts student. Which means I will be dressed normally, and escorting my 5 year old daughter who is going as a young Gryffindor.

    hermione.jpg

And toting my youngest (18 months) who will be wearing one of those oh-so comfortable baby costumes that covers every square inch of her body except her face. I'm sure she will be just thrilled to be stuck in that thing!

Cute kid. When will she be legal? J/K!!!!

I wish I could do something fun. I have to make eggrolls for a potluck tomorrow to honor a researcher who passed away due to cancer. Ironic thing is that he did cancer research... :(

    YF-1R

Nope. Haven't gotten a MPC yet and don't have any plans to, not at the current price. Just don't feel its worth the money, especially after I've gotten a 1/60 VF-1S Strike by Yamato. Still need to get at least one 1/48.

Becoming quite the Macross purist are we? :p

EDIT IN: The Power of Kawamori compels you!

  11. You might want to rethink your 'intertwined' line of reasoning, because your first argument is fundamentally and factually wrong.

No where has it been shown that TP cannot make derivatives of "SDF Macross." I don't understand why you think that the memorandum says that, but if your referring to the first court ruling then you misunderstand the ruling. The court ruled that TP cannot make derivatives of the line art it made no such expression about the show. Now you might argue that without making derivatives of what is called the VF-1 in SDF Macross you don't have a "Macross" show. But, that's another argument all together.

I'm not bending any sematics about an translation. I went to the original Japanese document of both the copyright law and the language used in the Jan03 ruling and found that the characters used in both instances are exactly the same. That's not twisting, that's fact.

Crediting someone for their idea and acknowledging ownership aren't exactly the same thing.

Fundamentally and factually wrong where? The memorandum does expressly stated that TP may not make derivatives of SDF-Macross (the show itself) nor are they allowed to license others to do so. The facts are all there. TP has yet to make a SINGLE derivative of SDF-Macross. The closest they ever came to was RT: The Sentinels. And we all know how mangled the character designs were. That was not on mere whim on TP's behalf, I can assure you. On the otherhand who has been pumping out SDF-Macross derivatives?

The mere fact that you are using a BABELFISH translation as the basis of your argument by it's very nature folly.

You ARE bending semantics into your favor while ignoring facts known by everyone, even if you will not admit it.

    vinnie

  12. Draw what you will from that.  But, if you're confused about these facts check out the CHARTS link in my sig.

No, what I was referring to is the fact that I'm still not convinced that BigWest was only granted moral rights and Tatsunoko was granted everything else. Your explanation for this seems, to me, to be lacking.

The translation you received did not say that, although you claim that it actually does and that your translator was in error. And then your proof of this is a connect-the-dots theory based on, of all things, a Babelfish translation.

I know the CHARTS (no need to yell) don't lie. I wasn't arguing that at all.

It's just that I don't believe your theory that BigWest was only granted moral rights and nothing else. Hence, I find any theory you base upon that evidence as faulty.

Sorry, caps were meant to emphasize the charts link and not to yell.

How about the fact that the Japanese characters used in both the Copyright website and in the court's ruling to describe denote "Moral Right" are exactly the same.

All the word twisiting word change a thing. There are two lines of evidence that indicates BW and /or Studio Nue are the owners of the SDF-Macross story. These two lines are interwined and collaborate each other.

The first line is the fact that in the infamous memorandum, TP is expressly forbidden from creating derivatives of SDF-Macross or licensing others to do so. It is even well known that this is the reason why the RT: The Sentinels had such drastic changes in character appearance as well as the complete lack of newly animated VF-1 footage. All VF-1 footage in the Sentinels were taken from SDF-Macross to be reused.

The second line of evidence is the plethora of SDF-Macross derivative stories that BW has authorized.

So as long as you try to bend the semantics of a translation in your favor, you will always ignore the truth that is in front of you.

Who owns the story of SDF-Macross? Why Studio Nue, of course! Even TP has acknowledged it. Why won't you?
