  1. So you think Max is an ass? then you probably haven't met me in real life ;)

same can be said for Duke Togo, Agent One, Vinnie , Destroids Rage and Me

As I stated "can be said" - it's all in your personal POV, if you happen to take offence of some of the postings,

Woo hoo! That must be me. I'm more infamous than I give myself credit for. Unless you are talking about my clone who rarely posts, works on the Nanashi site, and happens to have the same name, likes redheads and the VF-4 just like me.

And just for the edification of everyone. Yes, I am an ass. I'm condescending, arrogant, and worse off a sarcastic smart aleck. But why is it that no one ever realizes that I don't capitalize my name and that it is only a screenname I go by since I don't want my real name listed???

  2. Kawamori decides to check in on MW to see what all his fans are up to. He proceeds to smack himself on the head as he reads the M7 whining and thinks:

"Yeah, what the hell would I know what Macross is about. Hell, I've been stoned everytime I make a new Macross show. How else could I possibly come up with the diversity of stories! frakk, I'm not even going to pretend anymore. I admit it! I'm just some smuck off the street that Studio Nue nabbed cause they needed a name to fill in for original story. I did not create Macross. I'm just poser. Macross was actually created by 3 monkeys locked in a room with a typwriter for the past 100 years. So go ahead bash M7 all you want."

    Nice use of same sarcasm:

How do you know what Kawamori thinks, for all we know he might actually hate M7, but isn't allowed (pride, big west or otherwise) to acknowledge that publicly

    -

But M7 has all the elements, only in different quantities

and those clash with the tastes of some macross fans

as for why the anti-M7 fans keep it up: they silently hope that their bashing will prevent an Macross 7 Pt. II

    Lol. I don't care if people don't like M7. I love it.

Macross has always been about covering new grounds and interpretations. If people are so narrow minded that they cannot or will not accept the fact that M7 is indeed the brainchild of the Kawamori's fertile mind then there is nothing else left to be said. M7 is Macross the way Kawamori wants it. As fans, who are we to say that M7 is not Macross. It is simply not our right to do so. Besides as someone once said, "The fandom if left up to the fan would not exist." Or something like that....

As much as all the M7 haters want to believe, M7 was a sucess in Japan. It will always be no matter how much one wants to deny it.

M7 rocks. I'm rocking to Acoustic Fire. :o:p

EDIT IN: For whom do you sing?

  3. If anything, Macross 7 is the truest sequel to Macross out of everything presented so far. It's not about the flashy mecha battles, it's about the love & music.

Jesus God, Keith, do you have a CLUE what Macross is about? The original Macross was a war drama focusing on personal relationships set against the backdrop of conflict, how they react to their circumstances, and the humanity of the characters, both human and Zentradi. Music played a VERY small role in the overall series compared to 7, and there is as much mecha in Macross as there are tanks and airplanes in WWII films.

Both Plus and Zero are far more faithful to the original series in my opinion. The relationships come first above all else. Macross 7 is almost solely about the music. You can't go two minutes in the series without being beaten over the head with another song, which at that point you are probably hearing for the 100th time. Its like watching Sailor Moon. The stuff hits the fan, here comes the costume change! I didn't see that coming! And I'd say Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon had a deeper relationship than anything I've seen in Macross 7... so much for love.

  4. So, gleaning something else from this thread....

They repainted an entire VF-1D so Max and Millia could fly it for ten seconds after their wedding....

They repainted an entire VF-0D so a chick like Shin could have his own custom color scheme...

Max goes through two color schemes in the series.

They repaint a VF-1J and give it to Max's main squeeze in the series.

So, I'm guessing the budget for cosmetic modifications must be pretty huge, strange considering the amount of attrition that the space forces suffered during SW 1.

    Pilot Morale?

  5. HEY! Did anyone else noticed that Parker's glasses are taped at the hinge??? Lol, reminds me of my HS days before contacts. Those damn hinges would always break and I would have to tape them. Since Parker has his spider powers he shouldn't need glasses so I'm asuuming that they are fust for disguise.

  6. Heh, it premieres on my birthday. I liked the first movie. It wasn't great and was over hyped, but enjoyable nonetheless. They need to give Spider-Man more wits this spin round. He was kind of all brawn and no brains in the first movie.

I like the new trailer. Kirsten Dunst is a great actress, but I think she really doesn't fit the part of MJ. I think she would have made a great Gwen Stacey and if she had died at the bridge, it would have been awesome in terms of adding to the character of Spider-Man. However, it wasn't the Green Goblin that was responsible for Gwen's death, it was Doc Ock so that would ruin comic continuity...

Overall this will prolly be one of the few movies I will see next year.

  7. Mountain out of a molehill indeed. The guy had only one post and it was to attack and insult another member outright. I thought the original posted merited a delete, but now he should be banned completely.

There are many ways you can posted a difference of opinion without being so insulting.

  9. MacrossVF-1S' post is uncalled for and extremely disrespectful of the thread starter as well as the fansub. Please delete his thread as well as my response to it.

EDIT IN: I'm a moron too. Forgot the link.... <_<

  10. Funny that these guys took all of 3 days to get the damn thing out. Looks like other groups are actaully TAKING their time instead of rushing it out. Wait on a better group!

That was uncalled for and disrespectful considering who started this thread. The subs were clear and understandable. There were no obvious flaws in Macross terminology. The people who did this obviously knew Macross well enough to avoid the usual pitfalls.

  11. What is a "sequil"?

    Do you mean sequel?

edit: sorry if I sound overly pedantic, I spent all last week grading papers, and all this week writing my own.

Lord knows I have my spelling problems...but that one in particular has been one of my pet-peeves ever since I've been on the net.

Heh, that's nothing! My personal pet peeve? Cannon instead of Canon. Ughhh... Why can't some people get it right even after correction?

  12. I think that the blood from the general population is more derived from the original ancestors of humanity in the Macross universe than from the Protocultures. The Mayan's, and especially the family of the Guardians are more directly related to the Protocultures since they are basically ground zero. Considering their relative isolation, very little of the Protoculture tagging would be lost. So it's not that everybody doesn't carry the mark of the Protoculture in their genes, it's just been really diluted down.

  13. I don't know how much more official you can get with the timeline at the Compendium....

Regardless of how comprehensive it appears to be, the Compendium isn't an official site and thus it can't be treated as one.

Uhhhh... The Macross Compendium IS Official. It has the blessing of Big West. In fact, it is the only site recognized by Big West as being the repository of all reference Macross. All material contained within the Compendium are derived from official sources with zero speculation.

  14. Well, I checked the video store that was selling the toy. Apparently they sold it. It must've been a toy liquidation too, because a lot of the toy junk they had on display on top of the shelves are now gone. Sorry.

  15. Wow, I thought I was the only one who liked this movie. It never got and publicity. Except for the one day marathon on CN which was overkill IMO.

Holy crap! I didn't realize that toy costed so much!

I'll check on it when I can. Hopefully they won't charge that much. Anyone know the original MSRP?

  16. If you are talking about cartoon with vin Diesel as the Iron Giant, then yeah I know what you are talking about. I know of a place that I think still had it. Then again this was like half a year ago. I can check if you are interested.
