Transformer Starscream Masterpiece has arrived!
R_Deckard replied to kentgh's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Thanks guys. If you follow the link in the post you can get some more information on the mods. It is not a perfect transformation, you have to take the hip and shoulder kibble and peg it to the back. I made pegs out of the tabs on the back piece, you can see where they plug in on the close up pic of the back. It doesn't affect the jet mode at all. -

Someone wil probably buy that Skywarp MP-03 for $400. And I must say I have been doing a lot of customs lately and I hate the gloss paint or metallic paint. Unless it is done at the factory it always has that homemade spray paint feel to it. Anyway I decided to go a different route with my MP-03 custom. I dramatically increased the waist and hip articulation and mounted the kibble on the back like a backpack. Its held in by pegs and the shoulder kibble clamps to it. I was thinking of doing exactly what you said. Mount the tail sections to the leg in a raised position so he can stand on his heels. I'll probably just make another hole for the leg peg lower on the tail kibble. A silding mechanism could be done, just more work. Also I would cut that section off the tail kibble at the seem, the part you're talking about that has the ball socket and mount it permanently to the wings. So then the tail kibble would be flush with the top of his lower leg. That's all very doable from what I've concluded so far, now the shitty part. The conformal tanks are molded one pieces with the arms, which totally sucks. The geniuses over there couldn't just make them seperate pieces. The wing root is still all on the wing, you would just have to reshape it. The forearm tank pieces might be 2 pieces, but I don't think so. The shoulder and bicep are definely one piece with the tank. I was thinking about cutting the tanks off the arm pieces and then shaving the inside down to make them very thin. Then glue them back on the arms, so the tanks would only raise off the arm a little and you would still have the nice outside surface detail of the tanks. Then finally cut down the should kibble/gun pod and remount it to the wing tips. Of course a lot of reshaping would have to happen to make all this look good. It's possible, but because the tanks are one piece with the arms, it would be very difficult. The silver bits on the foot help support the heel/nozzle. Although they might be worth looking at removing, it would increase the articulation of the heel. As long as the heel ball joint is tight enough to hold without the support. -

Yeah, I decided he was way to cool to not have hip articulation, so I took off the hip ball joint. Eventually I'll probably modify him significantly to the configuration of the first prototype with the tail wings mounted to the legs in a way that allows him to still stand on his heels. -

You can get them at any art supply store or graphics store. The generic stores like Micheals might not have them, try stores that are exclusive to art and graphics supplies. -
My stealth is by far the tightest contruction of all my valks. When I first got it I thought something was wrong when transforming it because I really had to put some effort into it. That thing is solid enough to be compared to MP Optimus Prime although it still isn't that solid.

Thanks. I used a very light handed 0.3 mechanical pencil with HB lead. -

Yep, you need photoshop. It very easy to use. When I'm doing batches of photos I just run Auto Levels and Auto Contrast which works great for most photos. The initial photo shot is the most important however, it has to be close and the lighting is the most important part of the intial photo. I'm still trying to get perfect, the bulbs I use for my lighting are not right. -
Mine, the one I just posted pics of is a floppy retarded mess. It looks great but it is horrible on literally every joint. I pretty much have to leave it in fighter mode (which I like the best anyways). I got it on the first preorder.

Is that stealth visor green? That's awesome. Nice decals too, I like the black symbols. I'm still trying to figure out my lighting. Good pics is all about lighting. I use a Fuji E510 with a $20 tripod at about 1.5 feet away. I have it on the close up camera setting and I use the manual setting for lighting. It takes a lot of test shots to get the lighting right which is the key. After I have a ton of pics I sort through them and pick the best. Then as a final step I color correct them in Photoshop, which can really save your ass on imperfect lighting. I use Auto levels and Auto contrast and that's it. I use cheap lamps with clamps on them and desk lamps. I'm no expert, but was a fine arts major so I have had photography classes which helps. Basically you want very even lighting across the entire model and no hotspots, unless you are doing some special lighting effect. You can pick the lamps up cheap at any hardware store. I use them at close range which creates hotspots, so I drape white grocery plastic bags over them to help this. Lamps Here's some more Optimus Prime pics for you Arthurius Master Piece Pics -

Thanks. I went the easiest route with the panel lines. I didn't want to paint anything or have to rub the plastic at all. So I used a really soft touch and a 0.3 mechanical pencil HB lead. I only used a minimal amount of lead so there won't be any smearing, I like the lines lighter too. It takes 1-2 hours. Pretty sure I got that idea from this forum. I just lined one of my MP Primes with a 0.005 drawing pen. I couldn't help myself. Can I sneak in a Prime pic, muuhaaaa! http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c325/R_D...DSCF12402-2.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c325/R_D.../DSCF1240-2.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c325/R_D.../DSCF1201-3.jpg -
man, I really wish they would reissue Max VF-1J. It's the next one on my list and I would have to buy it. I got into the yamatos after it had been released and didn't have a chance. I actually thought about one for close to $400 on ebay the other day, that's just retarded for that price.
