  1. Just wondering if the resin kits from SHE are really rare or not...specifically the variable resin kits, the VF-5000B, Pheyos valk, VA-3, & VF-4G? I see that they're shown in the model section of this site with some pretty high prices. Anybody put some of these together....are they worth the price? Thanks.
  2. Thanks, looks like I'll start off with the OVA episodes since I'm big on action. Thanks for all your help!
  3. I'm going to watch/buy the Macross Plus series. Is it better to watch the OVA's or the Movie? What's the difference. Also, if I understood some previous threads correctly, the Macross Plus movie is subbed english while there are versions of the OVA's with dubbed english? Is the dubbed english any good or should I stick with subbed versions. Thanks, and sorry if some of this has already been answered previously.
  4. Hey, looking for some cool Knight Rider kits/models, anyone have any suggestions? I found a few from HLJ but they're Remote Controlled and I'm not really interested in RC's. Does anyone know if some of the models have the panels that fly out (used as brakes)? Thanks.
  5. Just gotta say that I love Macross Zero, the CG blew me away. I also really like how colorful it is, real eye candy. Can't wait for the next episodes.
  6. The tomcat kit that I used is a Revell 1/72 f-14d super tomcat w/ Bounty Hunters markings. They're still pretty common and no, it's not new. You can pick it up for about $10-15. Just do a search for one, a ton of model stores have it. As far as the armament change/difference from Macross. I just put on what the Revell kit came with so it's going to be different from the show. I Imagine you could use the Hase weapons on the Revell kit, but I sold the Hase kit w/o decals complete so I didn't use those weapons.
  7. Thanks! Actually the stands are from some diecast Corgi models that I have. I just drilled some holes in the bottom so the stands would fit.
  8. BTW, I'm thinking of selling the tomcat since I'm going to making another one. Does anyone here buy finished models or is interested? If so PM me or I'll list this in the for sale column. Thanks.
  9. Here's some pix of my finished 1/72 Macross Zero models. These are the first models I've done since I was a kid so they aren't nearly as good as most of yours but I had fun making them and that's what counts. My fav of the two is the Mig-29 just because I think I did a better job on it. I used a Revell 1/72 kit for the tomcat cause I wanted swinging wings and recessed panel lines (even though the panel lines are quite heavy) and then added the Hase decals to it. Turned out ok (the tomcat) but I'm actually going to make another one since I'm a perfectionist and I want a few things different on my next model. Anyway, here's the pix.
  10. Thanks guys, definetely going to check out Macross Plus. Just ordered to other two episodes of Zero also. Can't wait, thanks!
  11. Hi, just wondering if you people have any suggestions for any other cool mecha toys other than Macross, Gundam, Armored Core, Front Mission, & Transformers. This is probably a dumb question as my wallet probably wouldn't be able to keep up with another line to collect...but I was just curious.
  12. The reason I didn't like it is I guess I like anime/movies in general that are more realistic. Again, I really wanted to like this movie, but when you have parts of the storyline that include someone that can stop fighting by singing a song....it just seemed extremely cheesy to me. Again, when the Zentraedi were analyzing the captured humans and the dialogue was about hugging, kissing....cheesy (in my viewpoint). Also, they're in the middle of a war where the extermination of humans is in the balance...and Hikaru is off taking joyrides through the galaxy, etc. Doesn't seem like the actions of someone who is in the military. Other things seemed outta balance. The zentraedi destroy everything on the earth so quickly but yet they can't destroy the Macross which is significantly smaller than earth/size of their own Zen fleet. The Zen seem so formidable at some points, and laughably incompetant at others. There are other "inconsistencies" that bothered me, but these are the main ones. I know this is a story and not suppossed to be real life, but I thought that they could've done a much better job of making it realistic. Perhaps I would like the series more as I'm sure it's fleshed out more. Honestly though, is the TV series fairly similar to DYRL? If it is, I don't think it's my cup of tea.... Also, how is Macross Plus compared to DYRL/Zero? Does it have a lot of singing/cheesy stuff in it or is it more adult similar to what Zero is like? I'm interested to know as I did enjoy Macross Zero and I would like to watch Plus if it's like Zero. Interesting to read your comments so far and BTW, it's nice to know there are some of you out there that didn't think DYRL was that great.
  13. First off (just some personal history), I've been a fan of Macross mecha/toys for over 2 years now. I love them to death! Finally, I thought that I should watch some Macross DVD's and get a taste of what the shows are all about. I started off with Do You Remember Love. Let me say that I was extremely excited to view this after all the good things that I've heard about this movie. I know this is going to probably make some people mad (I'm sorry), but after viewing this movie, I can't believe how badly I disliked it. Overall, I don't think that I've disliked a movie more than this one. There were a few things that I didn't hate, the mecha of course/fighting/anime style but I thought that the storyline was incredibly childish/lame. The singing also annoyed the hell outta me. Again, this is just my opinion and I could be wrong (in fact, I'm sure some of you will think I'm definetely wrong). Is there anyone else out there that agrees with me? I guess I just can't see how some of you could love this movie so much. I realize there were some good lessons that this movie was trying to bring out, but I just don't think that it did a good job of it. Anyways, I will say though that I enjoyed Macross Zero (1st episode). I thought that the anime was great and the storyline wasn't too bad either. I guess it's kind of weird to find out how much I enjoyed Macross Zero and hated DYRL considering they're in the same universe/overall story. Anyways, sorry again if I pissed some of you off but I just wanted to get my thoughts out there and find out if anyone else feels the same way. By the way, I am not judging the Macross TV series, just DYRL. You'll have to let me know if the TV series is better than DYRL or different, etc. Thanks (don't rip on me too bad.....)
  14. Thanks for the info, so the DYRL version offered at valk exchange is the best version? I'm thinking of buying this, thanks.
  15. I'm been interested in Macross for about a year now (mainly the mecha/toys) but I wanna start watching the anime. Is there a version of DYRL that has English dialogue? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
  16. Hey, I'm going to start painting my MIG-29 Macross plane soon. It's a camo color scheme and I've never done these before, any suggestions would be greatly appreciatted! I'm going to be using spray cans for this (too cheap for an airbrush). After I apply the base color, what's best for masking off the areas I don't want painted? Thanks!
  17. Thanks guys/gals for all your help! Looks like I'll be busy for a while. PM'd ya Hellohikaru about some pics Thanks again!
  18. So here's a list of what's been mentioned so far: TV Max VF-1A Kakikazi VF-1A VF-1J (Brown/CF) VF-1D (similar to Max's 1J) VF-1A angel birds VF-1D angel birds DYRL Kakikazi VF-1A (green) Max VF-1S Hikaru VF-1S Are there any other schemes that I'm missing? Any luck on the site that had pix of these? If not, I'll do my best searching for some. Thanks for all the help so far.
  19. Looking for some info on some valk color schemes and I'd like some help from the experts here. Here's the scoop: I have all the Yamato 1/60-1/72 scale color schemes that have been produced. So far I've customized my own VF-1S Hikaru. I enjoyed it and I want to do a bunch more (in 1/60 scale). I haven't seen very episodes from Macross and I was wodering how many different valk color schemes there are (only TV & DYRL) that have been shown on these episodes. My next one is a DYRL Max VF-1S. Other than this, what's out there, can I get a complete list? Pictures too would be great if possible. Sorry, I know that I've seen similar threads out there for this so I hope this request isn't annoying. Thanks.
  20. I got mine today a couple of hours ago..... and I'm still waiting for my erection to wear off. This toy is awesome! Now if I can just hang on until my wife gets home.... sorry
