  1. Its widely used by modelers. Then again if you're just building gundams...

I knew this would this turn into another Future is great and any other method sucks thread as soon as I saw the title

Your quoted comment wasn't necessary. Just because he doesn't subscribe to your methods or makes models differently to you doesn't mean he is any less a modeller.

I have won multiple awards at various model shows (without a drop of Future ever touching my models ;) ) and I also make Gundam models :o . It's attitudes just like yours that stopped me from bothering to enter any more contests.

  2. If you are refering to Dullcote then it is perfectly safe.

I have models that are over 30 years old that have Dullcote on them and they look just like the day I painted them. Whilst many people extol the virtues of Future I have never used it and all my models turned out just fine. I just put down some gloss clear where I want the decal, put the decal on and settle it with SuprerSol/MicroSol (although I've been trying Mr Softener lately and it works fine too), wait at least 24 hours then clear coat with Dullcote. It must be sprayed on (airbrush not spray can as I have heard that the spray can version does some funny things) not brushed as it is a lacquer and can possibly damage the decal and paint as it can soften the paint/decal slightly and the brush can pull at the paint/decal.

Just wondering that if you are paying someone to build this for you, why are you questioning their methods  Surely they have experience in doing this and everyone has their preferred methods.

  3. I am almost positive that it is the old Hasegawa kit. The box is long gone. Also it may be 1/72. It looks awefully big for 1/100.

Hasegawa never did a Gerwalk

If it's one of the ARII 15th anniversary kits try using the model link on the left hand side of the macross world main page.

  4. Here's Priss Asagiri's hardsuit from Bubblegum Crisis by Aoshima at 1/12 scale. The kit is pretty close to the anime proportions.

    Not bad.

A lot better than the floppy Yamato figure that falls apart every time I walk past the cabinet. What colour did you use for the blue please?

  5. Seeing your post reminded me I had it, so I've just watched it.

That's 53 minutes of my life that I'll never get back :(

It was one of the worst things I've ever seen. It appeared to be a rip off of Independence Day with a bit of magic fairy weirdness thrown in to confuse the issue. The mecha action was OK but was all of about 5 minutes and couldn't save the rest of the show.

Do yourself a favour and don't waste your money.

  6. I've got all the Hasegawa kits and all the accessory decal sets that they released and they don't look like any decals I've seen.

I'm pretty sure the cursive un spacey was only used on the 25th anniversary sets and from memory they were done in gold and didn't have skull squadron symbols.

I'll see if I can dig out an old Bandai 1/72 kit but I don't think it's a copy of those either.

  7. So much angst. Do any of you pilot Gundams ;)

My old man got me into modelling when I was 5 (I'm 50+ now) and my mother was a sci-fi tragic so if they were around now they wouldn't have too much to say as it was their fault anyway :p

Other subject: do you collectors always put all decals on your yamato figures?

    I don't for a couple of reasons.

    1. It looks more anime correct as apart from the kite and the skull you don't really see too many other markings. (Gundam is much the same)

    2. I think the resale value is higher if they don't have the decals on (just my feeling)

  8. Here's my little (by comparison to KiriK's) lot.

The cabinet is mostly 1/60 Valks (all V1 except the TV Kakazaki), some chunky monkeys, some Toynami and some Revoltech. The reflection from the mirror back makes things look a bit confusing. I've only got 3 1/48's and they are on my bookcases. The Angel is on a Yamato arm & the Max & Millia are on Flightpose stands. I recently got some more of those stands and will probably re-pose those 2 later on.

  9. I was not aware Malaysia were given an official license??

They haven't. Malaysia is the home of "official" knock off's.

I can remember when the very first Batman movie came out they were selling videos that looked like the real thing, so called seals and all but it turned out to be a copy of a video someone took in the cinema with a hand held camera
