  1. Here's my modest collection. It's grown considerably since I took this photo a few years back.

I also have 2 of each Moscato Macross kit and the 1/72 Cat's Eye and Mike's 1/72 Monster...

How long are you gonna hold onto two Cat's Eye kits? :) I know a good home in Australia that will take good care of one ;)

Or, if Tanmen isn't making them anymore maybe we could make moulds from one, like the VF-4 last year

So bummed I missed Tanmen kits but stoked to be on MW for Moscato resin!

  2. Here's what I have been up to...

This is Kamjin's Zentraedi warship model by ARII in 1/20000 scale. This is another quick build. The model is small, about 5 inches (12cm) The ship can separate into two vehicles.

It's too bad that ARII did not made a larger version of their Zentraedi ships.

On to the next project. B))

Very cool Ron. How long did it take to build? Great matt finish there.

Edit: took out the pics from the reply

  3. Yeah its a F/A-18E Super Hornet that I've done in a UN Navy Scheme, with one RMS-1 a six AMMs and I'll add two AMRAAMs and two AIM-9X later. I kinda see its as part of the period around Macross Zero between the Anti-UN and the UN. I'm not sure though I might make it completely low-viz with gray tailfins. It too is an WIP and again, sorry about the blurry pics.

Nice! Just this morning I was decaling a 1/100 F-14A as a Mac Zero jet - I fitted it with a gunpod as part of the Valkyrie Experiment.

  4. It's just that, if you don't buy them when they're released, they'll sell out. If you wait until later, you'll have to pay through the nose to get them. And that's only if you can find the kit...

That's why my collection is so big.

    Same here.

    Nice collection Gunny. I have 1/72 Q-Rau envy :)

How about some pics of the display cabinet?

  5. 1/100 Bandai isn't crap! They are fun and make for a nice finished model. You might consider making it a fixed pose though, as the joints aren't exactly Yamato-style. A year or two ago I finished one as a Millia gerwalk. I highly recommend gluing some weight (fishing sinkers or nuts) into the leg section. It'll help it balance when standing and will make it feel less like a toy.

    1/100 FTW! :D

  6. I would recommend an acrylic wash over any pencil method. It is sooooo much easier to do a good job.

What type of thinner did you use on the 1/144 Gundam? You can always use artist's water based paints to create a wash that wipes away with a damp rag - guaranteed not to damage the original finish.

  7. If you have a deformed resin part, which does happen, simply pour some boiling hot water into a bowl or cup large enough to comfortably submerge the part. Put the part in that hot water and keep in in for 15-20 seconds. Remove part from boiling water, reshape as desired, then immediately place in cold water and voila! The part is set.

10seconds! Ack! I was going with 10minutes! Cheers for the info John

  8. I've had some success sitting resin in hot (boil the kettle, wait a few mins, then pour) water for 10mins then reshape. It took quite a few goes but got there in the end.

Quick cooling sounds like a winner. I air dried it last time but thinking about it now you could prob dip it in cold water like you're annealing steel.

Keen to hear what other guys do...

  9. I feel stupid for answering this as I asked the same question several months ago but if you have seen Do You Remember Love then you have heard it. My version of DYRL translates it as "unthinkable". Some translate it as impossible. Some sort of ineffiablility. Like holy $hit! or Oh my god! something like that. And also a reference to the Zentraedi's revultion to culture. It does appear sporadically in the macross universe.

I just thought it was insane how he got the detail in that tiny model.

Ah! As I thought, I am a noob :) I only started watching animego Macross a few months ago - just up to ep29 this morning. DYRL is next! Thanks for that miriya.

For now, I'll just use a slight lisp and shout "INCONCEIVABLE!" :D lol

  10. 1.) You can get just about anything via mail order

2.) If you've been using the single action for a while, buy a double action this time. You can create a better finish with a double action.

3.) You're a ninja, so you didn't me to post this because you would have known it already

  11. He would have known it was a recast.

Debatable. The only guy that knows is the seller. I'm not his advocate but the HF kit isn't rebranded or anything - it still bears the Club-M logos etc. If you weren't an expert you wouldn't know that the original has the white metal parts, etc. Even the logo on the front is easily misconstrued as the kit is ordered and shipped through HobbyFan. It's just like when HLJ ships stuff in a nice HLJ box.

Anyways, I'm not trying to start a fight or an argument, just encouraging MWers to be wary of calling people dishonest right off the bat is all.

And it sucks to hear about Paypal giving you grief mate. Yeah, I'm not sure what they expect - I wonder if you could sign the stat dec yourself?

  12. so how would a person know if it wasn't an original club m kit? i won the auction and know i am a little worried.

In truth, I don't think you could, and the seller has misrepresented the kit. That said, based on his email reply I think he was genuinely unaware (ignorant?) of the difference between a HobbyFan kit and an original Club-M.

If it really was a Club-M, you would expect the starting price to be around US$500. His starting price was about right for a recast.

Not sure if that helps, but if you bought it expecting an original Club-M you should contact the seller and you'd have grounds to rescind your bid.

    HTH

  13. Amazing work Ron. Man, creating those buildings required a LOT of patience. Well done.

Which flock did you use for Ataria? And was it spak-filla to create the mud/earth around the crashed SDF-1? And how did you make the water? It sorta looks like paint on sandpaper - turned out very nicely!

Sorry for the 20 questions mate, I just love your work and want to learn :)

  14. May be it was better to me. I didn't see that is wasn't an original (description didn't say it!)

Yeah, I had to email the seller to find out whether or not it was a recast. He wasn't sure, but said he bought it from HobbyFan :)

Had it been an original I would have bid no matter how crappy the Aussie dollar is! :D
