  1. Sucks to hear Berttt. From the sounds of your email, it was a foregone conclusion. Nothing like a deployment to get in the way :p

Well I've finished painting the Glaug. The last few pieces have just been glued on, and in about 20 minutes she'll receive the first coat of Future. I'm a little surprised (read: disappointed) by Bandai's scaling of the kit - the cockpit module seems quite small and would have a hard time fitting a soldier inside, even Zentraedi sardine style.

Tuesday: decals, hopefully add another coat of Future afterward

Wednesday: touch-ups, final decals, hopefully final Future coat

    Thursday: panel lines, weathering, dullcote

    Friday: ???

    Saturday: profit

How are you other modelling lads faring? You're also finding seam lines you thought you cleaned up? :)

  2. @Bluemaxx: that is a bummer mate. kevin wants you to come to the con!

@PetarB: I think Matt said the model entry was on Saturday. I sure hope so, because I can't make it on Sunday unfortunately.

Glaug is panel-lined and preshaded. I wish I could post pics. And I missed a seam line!!!!!!! Argh!! Rushing sucks, but the con will be worth it. I've been painting a lot of GW minis recently and I'm having fun applying stuff I've learned about shading and highlights to the 1/100 kit. Let's see how it turns out.

  3. My friends, it is with deepregret that I must bow out of this. I wasnt sure until today but it has been confirmed. my wifes cousins wedding is in May as well 9The week after macrosscon) in Melbourne; Unfortunately we can't afford forme to go to brissy and then both of us to go to Melbourne a week later (which Im told is for several days).

matt u have done an amazing job of bringing this all together, and if someone PM's me a mobile bnumber Ill try and call over on the Sunday so i can see how it's fgoing. i hope it can all happen again next year so I can make it then.

    Sorry guys

    Craig

That's a real bummer! I know where you're coming from though.

  4. I'd cut them some slack, they're starting out and deserve some support. I really want to give them a try, and hope to order my next 1/72s from them.

I'm pretty sure Petar is talking about HLJ, who aren't just starting out.

  5. Hey man, thanks for posting - its always good to see something new (especially old school kits) The kit as is is great but I reckon a good rattlecan flat clear coat would do wonders. It''l even out your brush marks and really make the work you have done shine.

the flat coat will make it shine?

    TIC :p

Looks great Tancist! Nice work on the seam lines especially. I agree with Berttt, a nice flat coat, and possibly even a verrry light coat of white with a drop of yellow (over the entire kit) would be the only step I'd recommend including next time.

Well done. Thanks for sharing the pics.

  6. Usually I don't like these sort of missile effects, but here its done very, very well. I think the angles you've used lends the believability. Nicely done!

Couldn't agree more. They usually look cheesy, but this is really nicely done. Great job destroid. And you're a local! Nice.
