  2. Fantastic news. I'm looking very forward to spiffing up my Ostrich and Elint. Great work, Devin.

    Place your bets...

I'll go along with the crowd and say they'll put the M&M set out so they can milk the new molds for all they're worth, including some spiffy new color coordinated tv-type fast packs. They'll be undeniably gorgeous, but I think I'll pass - I already have this set in 1/60 and I'm starting to run out of space to keep all this stuff. Maybe I'll break down and get the Millia. We'll see. So where's the new 19 already?
  4. Yeah, but I kind of doubt that will be much of a deterrent for most of us at this site. The Monster will be absolutely gigantic when released, and I'm betting that SDF-1 will be as large (whenever they get around to making it). Lots of people buy those 1/60 Gundam kits, and those are enormous. I agree that shipping will bite us importers hard in the wallet, and the box size likely won't help in the matter, but size isn't an issue for lots of us (me included). I say bring it on. I'll make room for one of these even if I have to start throwing stuff out.
  5. Only to death. Several times. No worries.

    I've just been laid

Yeah ... give him a few more minutes to finish. (MOM!!! You're supposed to knock first!!!).
  7. Yikes! I hadn't seen those yet. That strike battroid looks amazing when you consider how small these littel guys are. And that glaug?? I've been really pleased with these so far, considering what you get for your dollar (or your yen, or pounds, rupies, or whatever). Anyone know when this third set is supposed to come out?
  8. Amen. My purchases aren't dictated by limited availability, and I don't see them as some sort of investment. I buy what I like because I like it, and because I am fortunate enough to be able to do so. In my humble opinion, "limited edition" translates to "marketing hype". Let the fanboys devour the useless fuff. They won't get MY money unless it's worth getting.

    HLJ Sale Again!!

I already have two CF's, but $28 for a Yammie is tough to pass up. Hmmmm <_<
  10. Thanks for the heads up, ssc2046. Welcome to Macross World. I just got my first box of the first series from HLJ last week, and I've been pretty impressed with them, all things considered. The new set looks even better.
  11. I agree. I absolutely loved this series, and EoE left me drained in a way that VERY few movies (anime or otherwise) have before or since. You do have to watch it for a while before it REALLY hooks you, but if you stick around until the end (and I mean EoE - not the series), you'll be just blown away.
  12. Well that was quick. Estacado definitely got the text right - it's from Catcher in the Rye by J D Salinger. Here's a more complete version, for those who are interested: "I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes. That way I wouldn't have to have any goddamn stupid useless conversations with anybody. If anybody wanted to tell me something they'd have to write it on a piece of paper and shove it over to me. They'd get bored as hell doing that after a while, and then I'd be through with having conversations for the rest of my life." Nicely done. OK, estacado06479, yer up!
  13. Sweet! Judging from some of the questions so far, I never thought I'd answer one of these. Anyway, I hope this series isn't too new to be asking trivia questions for, but I didn't see any rules posted. If this isn't kosher, let me know and I'll ask something else. Ok, here goes: In Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, what does the text around Laughing Man's circular face say, and what is it in reference to?
  14. He he. That's debateable. Francoise Appledelhi. Radical Edward, of course. Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky 4th
  15. This sort of thing is becoming more and more common. AOL has had a lot of trouble with this sort of thing where people were sent fake billing failure notices, and were prompted to enter CC information and such, and lots of folks fell for it because - well, let's face it - AOL's userbase is primarily comprised of Internet newbies (no offense to anyone here). One of these morons recently got caught sending one of these to an FBI agent: http://www.securityfocus.com/news/7329 LOL! Hope they like prison food. There was another recent article (I forget where I saw it) that actually interviewed some college kid that scammed tens of thousands by doing this - sending out fake emails posing as paypal, aol, ebay, etc. I manage a large-ish (25000 user) corporate email system, and I see this kind of trash all the time. You have to be carefuil out there, people. Never believe anything you receive in emails - if ever in doubt, always check the mail headers to be sure it's coming from who it's supposed to be coming from (i.e., if it's coming from a dsl line in China, odds are it isn't legit). Edit in: Glad to hear you weren't taken for a very long ride, Kevin. These kinds of things are notoriously hard to track down. You might want to forward that mail (with mail headers included) to 'uce@ftc.gov'. The FTC investigates and pursues this kind of thing as interstate fraud, and you could just help them keep this scumbag from doing any more harm.
  16. This depends on your motherboard chipset. Some of the newer boards (notably the Nforce boards from nVidia) feature a memory controller that can access two memory banks in parallel to effectively double your memory bandwidth. You'll only see this feature in newer bleeding edge hardware (in the PC desktop world, anyway), so judging from the system you've described: No, you won't see any advantage using x1 512 MB DIMM as opposed to 2x 256 MB DIMMs. There won't be any noticeable difference in performance either way. On to "what kind of computer I have": Well, I have several I use daily (I'm a systems administrator, and have to babysit a datacenter full of Unix and Windows servers), but my main machine at home I use for most desktop-related stuff is as follows: Windows 2000 Pro SP4 Athlon 2400XP 512 MB DDR @ 333 MHz Radeon 9700Pro Soundblaster Audigy 2 3 HDD devices (2 in RAID 0), totalling 60 GB space (file server has 300 GB of space, mostly filled with anime avi's ) 21 in Sony Trinitron flastscreen CRT I use two desktops at work, one running SuSE Linux and another running Win2K. My Win2K box gets most of my work, but I'll dance for joy the day we can finally toss Outlook (and with it MS Exchange) out the window for good. I'm itching to try out those new Athlon 64's, but I'll wait for the price to come down (and for that 64 bit Windows to be released to retail).
  17. Definitely fighter mode, with or without fast packs. I do love 'em all, though.
  18. I can just see the whiteboards at Yamato - the new Max Jenius VF-1S. With vibrating kung fu action. Coming fall 2004. (BTW, thanks a lot - I'll never look at my toys in the same light again).

    New here!

Welcome to MW. May you wallet be forever empty and your shelves adorned by little plastic robots that transform into fighter planes. Ipso facto, habeus corpus, amen.
  20. You know, I was just looking at those pictures the other day and it got me wondering how hard it would be to do something like that with a Hasegawa strike battroid kit. It's such a great pose.

    Hikaru 1S Review

I'm still looking at that with awe.
  22. Uhmmm... You do realize that Yukikaze's aircraft are all CGI rendered, right? They might be using cel shading to give it a more traditionally animated look, but it's still being rendered from a 3D mesh on a computer.
  23. If Valkyrie recasts it, I'm in. The VF-4 recast I bought from him is stunning, and I'd have no objections paying $75 (maybe more) for one of these. I don't have as much faith as others that Hasegawa will get around to this one (they'd have already done it if they were going to, methinks), so bring it on.
