  1. the $60 prelude, is in mechanically great shape, some of the speaker wires are showing and the bumpers aren't fastened correctly so it looks all wonky, some of the paint is peeling on the hood. Otherwise, for $60 i can't really complain, motor has 200,000 miles on it, even in its current condition its worth about $800 since it runs and will pass safety/emissions.
  2. mine is definitely the opposite, but that's more due to my experience in both genres. I was actually a Capcom snob and always ridiculed the Tekken groupies because my assumption was that they lacked the quick fingers and split second reactions to keep up in the world of Capcom fighting. This was around the time of X-Men vs SF/Tekken 3, which i was a dominating competitor of the former, and my friend had introduced me to Tekken 3 when it hit the console. That's when i learned that Tekken (IMO) was truly the superior fighting game, it's all based on timing and strategy (down to the smallest detail), not speed and maximum hit combos like the SF franchise (at that time anyway). I do think that SF4 has taken back a lot of territory that was lost in the "VS" franchise of games, and timing has now become very critical once again, but where SF had to bring themselves back to basics Tekken never strayed from it and the difference is in the details.
  3. awesome, i hope the gameplay is more akin to Tekken than it is to SF4 (dynamics, 3D rotating environment, etc.), with specials and goodies sprinkled in from the SF franchise. Really never saw this coming but am exciting by the prospect.
  4. It's great having this show back, the writing still feels like they're building momentum, but it still got some huge laughs out of me in the opening episodes.
  5. I was willing to give Manny Shyamalan the benefit of the doubt, but after reading the reviews it's been cemented in my mind that he's still a one hit wonder with the 6th sense (you can argue Unbreakable was decent, but far from good cinema).
  6. Ford finally getting rid of Mercury is a genius move that should have happened decades ago. This is where they should invest the time and money to turn Lincoln into a real luxury brand (remember when the Navigator was a competitor to the Escalade?) and keep the momentum going for the Ford brand. In other news, i bought a 92 Honda Prelude for $60, and no it's not a parts car, it actually runs and drives, and will pass safety and emissions. Co-worker owned it and just wanted to get rid of it, so that worked out plenty good for me. It looks horrid as hell, but i spend more than $60 on dinner for the family, so if nothing else i can always turn around and sell it.
  7. I watch it when it's on, i enjoyed the "best of" episode with the spartan vs the Samurai, but as far as it's "scientific" merits, i take it all with a grain of salt, it's throw away entertainment. What is impressive is seeing the kind of damage stone, iron, and modern age weapons can do to the human body, or to see how truly resilient armor can be (like the Spartan shield).
  8. It's because the new investors/owners of the company want to turn a profit, they could care less for the brand names reputation.
  9. I actually found Sam Rockwell's character a bit annoying and over the top, otherwise, i found the rest of the cast played well off of each other. I think the biggest problem was just pacing, it felt like it dragged in some parts and then got rushed at the end, i was hoping for something a bit more strung out with whiplash, similar to IM1's fight with the iron monger.
  10. That's a nice GTS, notch back's are always lighter than hatchbacks that's a great choice and in great shape. I'm not sure where you live, but in my state it hits the antique law, so you can do the most illegal things to it (in regards to emissions) with no consequence. What are your plans for the car? (besides driving it of course)
  11. GT-R's are definitely rolling around, a close friend of mine owns an R32 GT-R, one of the first people on the East Coast to get one. His grandma passed away and he bought it with his inheritance before MotoRex went under. He's tried to sell it a few times but can't seem to part with it. But even in my area (Northern VA) there's at least three R33's and two R32's that live locally that i know of, haven't seen any R34's though except for when import shows come to town.
  12. Typically routers for home use work as-is but when you try to use any advanced features (port forwarding, nat/pat, dmz, etc.) that isn't standard to the factory config (even if advertised as features), they act retarded. If it's compatible you should try to load DD-WRT or Tomato on your router, typically features that work terribly (or not at all) in the regular firmware work great with the aforementioned firmwares. I've been lucky enough to acquire obsolete equipment from previous jobs to build my network with, if your company has a warehouse, i'd go knocking on their door, i know for a fact ours throws away perfectly good equipment on a daily basis. I was able to get a 48 port gig switch with POE and two POE access points from our warehouse "junk" yard, it had a bad 60mm fan that i replaced with parts from my local Micro Center.
  13. interesting place to put the boost gauge, i wish it was numbered. I'm glad they finally went with turbochargers instead of superchargers.
  14. it's funny that you posted that, i actually bought them this morning... damn you slickdeals
  15. Toyota has a poor history with V6's, their old Avalon 3.0L V6 had oil sludge problems that dealers new about but never addressed, and now the new 3.5L V6 has oil leaking problems.
  16. I'm confused, so your low beams don't work, and your high beams work but they're from the same projector? From your picture, i would've assumed the outside lights are turn signals the middle lights are low beam and the inside lights are high beam. In any case, light bulbs don't cost much, i would buy one and replace the light bulb first, and if it doesn't work, you can check the fuses. If you open your fuse box, typically they provide you a fuse tool (it's a pair of plastic plier looking things), you can use these to pull fuses out of the box and see if the filament is still intact. What you'll be looking for in the fuses is if the filament is disintegrated; when you pull the fuse out, you will see two prongs, and connecting these two prongs is a plastic colored shroud with a thin filament that connects the prongs closing the ckt. If the filament is disintegrated then you can assume it's bad and replace it, if the fuses continue to burn out after replacement you likely have a wire grounded out somewhere.
  17. I definitely agree, Ford has regained their focus and it shows. The hardest part for them isn't making a quality product, it's convincing the public that they're making a quality product. If they can regain the public trust, then have absolutely nothing to worry about. To be honest, watching GM's fall probably helped Ford on their quest even more, I was talking to some die hard GM and Dodge fanboys and one of them said directly "Now that GM is owned by the Government and Dodge is owned by Fiat (and the Government), i have no choice but to buy Ford". The people who still buy American really have no choice, GM flipped them the bird, and Dodge even prior to acquisition was more German than American, so Ford is really the only game in town.
  18. Believe me, the car is such a tank that you don't go anywhere unless you're pushing 300hp, usually performance mods are noticed in the lower gears, since the car is already well equipped for the highway (where the car is an absolute dream even in stock form). You'll have to look it up because i forget, but i believe your MY uses the K03S turbo instead of the regular K03 like in my year. If you upgrade the Diverter Valve, and chip the car, you're looking at an easy 50-70 extra hp, which helps a lot in the low end gears. But all things considered, my car has been great to me, i bought it for $2600 and have invested a mere $400 to ensure trouble free operation for the next few years (all belts, rebuilt abs module, MAF sensor, water pump, cam seal). The block is bullet proof, and the amenities are adequate, and since my commute is 100% highway, it's been an absolute pleasure to drive. Oddly, i wouldn't own another one, it's hard to explain, but just the handful of things that I've done as preventive maintenance were an absolute nightmare. I've been spoiled by working on Japanese cars, so working on German cars seems unnecessarily difficult.
  19. it's no worse than the honda/acura wagon thing, it's just another attempt at making the station wagon "cool" by making it slightly less practical than it was before.
  20. Ford has been my favorite domestic car maker, but even more so since they didn't accept any bail out money and have thrown away all of their grandfathered motors and drivetrains for modern marvels. They still have a ways to go, but ridding themselves of useless brands was a good start, personally i still think they need to lose Mercury and work on making Lincoln a real luxury brand. As much as i hate that GM is now Government Motors, i'm a big fan of them cutting the fat too and personally think it should've happened on their own accord decades ago before they found themselves in their current predicament.
  21. i'm not sure how different our stereos are (i have a 98 a4) but from what i recall the amp is located behind the speaker in the rear driver side. If you go to audidiy.com.. in fact here's a link for rear amp replacement (since it wasn't the head unit, i imagine this is the problem) http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec74.shtml. link for other DIY http://www.audidiy.com/b5a4phps/b5a4audio.php?currentpage=2 Also, on the symphony radios, if you hold down the '5' key and then turn your stereo on, you will have the ability to adjust all 8 equalizer settings, more on that here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.p...-Radio-Controls I'm not sure for what years that's good for, some say it's 2000-2002 others say it's for certain makes of the symphony system, it's hit and miss really. Somewhere on audizine or audiworld is a whole list of easter eggs your car has too, like holding unlock on your key fob rolls down all four windows and holding lock rolls all four up (and closes the sunroof). There's also a simple mod to give your rear windows one touch up (like the fronts) and if you have a VAG-COM you can set your car to lock the doors above 15mph and then unlock them when you remove the key from the ignition. Just goof around any of the popular forums and you'll find more info than you'll ever possibly use. There's nothing wrong with the Symphony system, so i'd personally just replace the rear amp, but if you do decide to go all out, see if you can make some of your money back by posting your left overs on the forums, i'm sure someone will pick em up. What motor and drivetrain is your A4? Just curious, there's a ton of stuff you can do to the 1.8t's (performance wise), i recently put a K04 along with a few other goodies on mine, but have a little ways to go before i'm ready to post any decent numbers. The biggest caveat with these cars is that they weigh so damn much. Hope i was of some help Edit: LOL, i forgot you replaced your head unit, the equalizer trick is useless to you then
  22. that's not always true, there are plenty of cases where a middle of the road crossfire/sli combo will perform the same or better than a top of the line single card (it's subjective because there are some things that each setup does better) and save you money at the same time. Usually the trade off to that is having to spend money on a more expensive motherboard with two pci-e 16x slots, but sitting on slickdeals.net long enough will often times yield pleasant results.
  23. I'm sure it can't be any better/worse than when saab was going to go to Koenigsegg, i personally think it'll be sink or swim. Either Spyker will make Saab absolutely awesome, or it'll tank in the first year, i don't foresee any middle of the road success.
  24. sorry, i switched subjects on you, my first sentence was regarding your buick, the remainder was regarding the new Mustang 5.0L V8. It was long rumored to have direct injection as part of Ford's greener efforts (like the new Taurus V6 direct injected twin turbo), but i suppose it never made it. I'm under the impression it'll probably find it's way on the motor in the coming years as hard pressed CAFE standards are ramping up to be.
