My Palladium Tactics Valkyrie wing set came today and I decided to paint one up as if I had my own Valkyrie squad. Teal is one of my favorite colors. Not bad little models, but the robot modes are hard to assemble.

Ya, thats the build i saw when i first was looking online for images to help build my Hasegawa 1/4000 attack SDF-1 That thread was a huge inspiration for my dive back into Macross.

Are. there sites/ resources that offer the scans for the SDF-1 Papercraft build? i've been looking for the book, but its over $100 now, not including shipping to Canada,

I'm pausing the build for a bit. I decided to get another attack mode kit to use the right booms. I'm going to see if i can mold and copy the needed parts, and kitbash it without taking away from the 2nd attack mode kit Also, apparently my photo etch parts were sent regular mail, so i'll see those by Xmas maybe. ...... Are there any scalable decals sets out there that can be used for added non descript details?

I have the DYRL version on it's way too. I'll probably end up with all 4 versions of the SDF1 by years end at this rate.

Painted this up tonight. Its the M.U.S.C.L.E VF-1J. it's a soft peach solid rubber. Its about the same size as the kids logic. a tad bloated. Still fun to paint.

Starting this tonight. I have the photo etch on its way. I built the attack mode already, but would like to do this up and really get into it. Anyone have tips/ tricks/ resources to help maximize the build?

Wellp, i broke down and bought the starter box set. I'll never play it, but damn, i can't wait to build and paint.

Ebay wants $30 shipping for a $20 decal sheet. Cheaper to just buy the whole starter box set at that price.

Did the declas come with the main box set, or do they also come in the expansion kits. or are they only available separate? I want a sheet, but the price to Canada is as much as some of the whole expansion kits.

I used a magnifying glass. It has little clips, but i don't use those.

Supposed to be Hikarus VF-1j, but i wanted a Miria going to get me some of those decals and see if they work out.

Did they come with Decals, or did you make custom?

I bought some, just for painting and display. I don't game.

When these episodes played, this is when i assumed it was a Cartoon sequel. they used the cartoon uniforms, and the other veteran RDF soldiers had their cartoon era uniforms. Seeing the VF-1j again in action was a nice treat. It would make sense to retrofit the SDF-1 with the ARMDs and still explain how both versions could be correct. In Macross Delta though, its clearly the DYRL version of the ship take off before the ARMDs were attached. the color, and the shape for the main cannon are identical, plus the bridge is already one piece, in the center of the hull.

Yeah, Maritime Proud. Thats too bad we will never get to see Hikaru, Misa and Minmei again. As for MD, yea, there is a flashback to the first war, but its the DYRL ship sans ARMDs taking off from antaria, and they call it the ASS-1 and talk about Minmei

I grew up with Robotech. when i was older, I knew it was based on 3 different series, and when Blockbuster came to our town, i watched Macross 2 and Macross Plus, but was still unaware of DYRL until many years later. I recently started watching the sequel series, MAcross 7, Delta, Etc Etc and i can't figure out a conclusive answer to a question always in the back of my head. If the sequels are all canon, how can some of them be based on the TV series, and some seem based on the movie? Shouldn't the flashbacks show an SDF-1 with the Daedalus and Prometheus. Why does nobody seem concerned that the Megaroad has gone missing with what are the universe's 3 greatest folk heroes aboard? Why has no one ever addressed this in a new series. I'm ready to go deep into this rabbit hole.

i noticed the differences, but it has the cutest little SDF-1 included. LOL i think i might try my hand at a diorama for it.

Yeah. i did a few cheap kits as practice as filler while i waited for kits to arrive through mail. trying different youtube tips for rusting, road dirt, and i figured since the SDF-1 was in space for nearly 2 years, and beat to hell, it wouldn't have a clean finish, and the daedalus and prometheus would have typical rusting from the salt water before they made it to space. The volkswagen was i think the 3rd kit. The lancia Stratos was actually the first kit i built after my 10 year break. I was actually sitting on it longer, kind of afraid of it due to the decals, but i took the plunge.

Thanks. i just started building again after a 10 year break. The isolation since March got me building again. Mostly cars. Actually, i've been building cars that the original 1985 Autobot cars were based on. I always wanted an SDF-1, so got the kit, along with a few other older kits from Ebay. Right now i just use shaker cans, and Tamiya brush paints. Weathering is just various washes from Tamiya and Citadel
