Thank you sir. Really appreciate it. That still looks the same box thickness they've been using. :hi:

I'm assuming Angesdad's box was mishandled that much in transit to have that accordion look. Probably got stockpiled diagonally or thrown in the corner diagonally below some heavy boxes.

Man you sherlock homes! thanks to your ever so descriptive explanation of what could've possibly transpired in that DHL cargo plane, I can totally visualize the box being crushed in slo mo.

and no @no3Ljm, I don't remember what kind of box the figure was in. Not sturdy enough I'd say!

Angesdad got his AmiAmi box turned into an accordion by DHL back in October.

DHL seems to be hit or miss in terms of box damage.

On my last 2 AmiAmi purchases, I went with Surface Premium.  It takes about 2 months to move but once it gets to the US it travels UPS to your home.  I had no noticeable box damage.  I don't know if it travels by boat to the US first then gets turned over to UPS or if they wait to completely fill a UPS container before shipping.

Yeah DHL, although the fastest of the bunch, has given me grief a few times with transit damage.😔 Not sure about SAL but I've had better luck with EMS for sure.

Anyone knows how to fix chipped paints? Can I use a Tamiya paint and brush over it? Would it stick on the diecast part?

Are you referring to Tamiya acrylic or lacquer? If you're touching up diecast parts I'd go with lacquer as it provides the strongest adhesion. a clean surface helps too. lacquer>acrylic>enamel.:)

My personal favorite display method is usually having valks standing on their open feet in fighter mode.  That usually works pretty well, except for the fact that the Yamato VF-19 feet are sloppy, and the Bandai's feet can't actually extend in fighter mode.

Made me think what you said about Bandai’s for a sec, but then I clued in!😆

Haven't transformed it yet, but she is lovely in fighter mode. This is the YF-19 toy I've wanted ever since I first watched Macross Plus. (Sorry but Bandai's effort is just a repainted VF-19 Advance :p)

I'll transform it after my second copy arrives. You know, in case there's a mishap...

Will have to wait till this weekend to break out the DSLR for some proper pics, but the phone will have to suffice for now.

They're not complicated kits.  Note the Hasegawa on the right was just snapped together straight outta the box, with no paint or glue; the standard Regult needs little more than decals and panel-lining to look as good as an HMR (with the potential to look so much better, if you know what you're doing). ☺️

The size comparison to HMR is very helpful indeed as I've always wondered how big Hasegawa Regults are, built.:good:

I like my HMR Regult but standing right next to Hasegawa, the exposed knee joints are rather eye sore.

I really cut down on valk collecting. From doubles of everything, to doubles of only the ones that really appeal to me, to singles of only the ones that really appeal to me. I do have other hobbies though that pick up what used to be valk money.

Exactly what I was thinking the other day, try to be more selective with what I am buying vs buying blindly now.😂

Does anyone choose to display their Battroid mode VFs on a stand rather than on their own two feet to avoid wear on the joints?

    Does it make a difference?

it helps to have a stand if your vf-1's decked out with SSP & missile pack. I noticed it tends to lean backwards and legs gradually spreading apart. Without optional parts in its bare form, vf-1's seem to stand on its own no problem over a period of time.

  9. Yeah I can almost foresee it too, a set of two red skull circles coded with “011” encased in the blister pack of VF-1A Hikaru on the lower level where the standard stand is included..and Bandai will do a reissue of SSP set to go with that.😉

Thank ya. It's very nice looking in all modes, though it did seem a bit more temperamental when transforming, especially into fighter mode. But I'm happy with it. I have to say though that the instructions for these HMR are pretty horrible, at least when it tries to show you what to do with small close-ups.

And thanks for those tips! I kept trying to pull the hear shield down but couldn't so good to know I won't break it. LOL.

ok it happened to me so i'm sharing. In battroid mode yes the heat shield needs to be pulled down as far as it can to fully cover the canopy. Just be careful not to manhandle it too much because the heat shield will make contact & rub against the black frame of the canopy and it WILL chip the paint off it. - happened to me twice in the same spot consistently.😁

Boy, Bandai must be hurting for skilled workers lately.. Had several mis-drilled pinholes in my Max YF-29, and now I get my VF-1S with packs, and half the markings are printed cockeyed.  I might have to source some decals for the packs, because the kites are just as bad as the whacked-out skulls. <_<

Are they headhunting cross-eyed workers here?

Glad to finally have a white VF-1S at least, but yeeesh.

Allow me to unbox tonight to validate your frustration.

  13. Ya the effect parts can be fun and great to pair with. Here I had fun with the crater effect parts:);
