  1. Any idea how okini is handling shipping. I'm not seeing anything in their site about covid shipping affecting their policy. What is carrier small packet? Is that EMS?
  2. I dont see the State of Washington at least, returning to work or letting up social distancing by May 1st. I'm betting on further extensions. Things are not improving in the hospitals. All caregivers have to be masked at all times now due to the high number of asymptomatic carriers taking out staff which isnt helping the critical shortages. If they do return to work theres going to be another flare that will reinstitute work from home. Of course I hope I'm completely wrong but that's my belief. Healthcare system here has been irrevocably changed. The emphasis will be on virtual visits now. Restructuring departments and layoffs will eventually happen. Hopefully japan isnt hit badly after all of this.
  3. Maybe someone living in Japan can confirm but I've heard the Japanese aren't really doing social distancing. If true, that could bite them eventually. Lots of old ppl in japan.
  4. You should try. If he answers then please share the info with the rest of us.
  5. Annoyingly though he ignores any comment about how much they cost or how to purchase them. Oh well, must be expensive.
  6. Is tamashi and Bandai the same company? If so why not use the same name?
  7. If NY is known to be so crappy why does anyone use them. Surely there are other options. Whatever meager savings you get from them doesnt seem to be worth waiting 10 years to get the package and all of the associated stress.
  8. I'm with you on that one. But since there aren't going to be new purchases for a while might as well put up that HMR Hiksru review!
  9. Ouch! Man shipping from Japan is rough.
  10. I heard ethanol was ok to use in the ultrasonic cleaner
  11. *Nods while frantically taking notes* This is some great advice. Didnt even consider the beauty aisle not gluing both sides. I always thought to minimize any excess glue but I didnt consider seams not fully connecting. I've been recently watching a youtuber called plasmo. His builds are amazing.
  12. Thank you for the insights!
  13. That's great! Someone should make an online database collecting all of this great packaging art
  14. Thank you for enabling me I've heard ppl use an ultrasonic cleaner for their airbrush. I have a TON of plastic spoons so I'm good there. I have many modeling channels saved on my YouTube so that's good. What does AB stand for?
  15. Good on you! Cant wait to see it!
  16. Is there a type of paint you find to be really difficult to clean?
  17. I've read that some people use an airbrush each for metallics, primers and acrylics. I'm not sure the reasoning on this. I dont want to screw up my airbrush because I mistakenly mixed paint types with it.
  18. Anyways, all this talk about education = jobs = money = valks = shipping = covids impact on shipping = my inability to swoosh valk and make pew pew sounds.
  19. Interesting to hear that perspective. I guess it depends on whether it is a career in which you have to sell yourself after you get a degree vs one in which the degree sells itself. In my experience with medicine you dont need a network ( of course connections always help to a degree). Once you have the degree you are good to go to get a job. I imagine liberal arts degrees are similar with needing a network to secure jobs. But that system only pays off if the candidate gets a good job through connections that offsets costs of the education. Oddly I got another shipping notice from mandarake. Maybe thst means my packages are moving. Or it could be a glitch.
  20. Agreed HardlyNever. Anyways, how long are kits in stock for? Are they in production for years or is this like the transforming toys that disappear quickly?
  21. Wow! Amazing job!! Something ive always found to be paradoxical is that a lot of military models are shown with weathering, rust, decay for lack of a better term whether it be planes, ships, or tanks. But in real life the military (at least US) always takes extraordinary care if their equipment. You never see this type of wear. Even Macross doesnt show this type of wear on any if its mecha typically. I understand the reasoning, it makes the model much less boring. One exception is Star Wars. In that universe, wear and tear seems to be the norm except with the Empire, who always had clean looking equipment.
  22. That's some sound advice, thanks! In fairness I did consider that star destroyer for a moment, youtubers make things look so easy. The magic of editing I'm sure. I do have a cheap Gundam actually that I would like to try. Question for those who use airbrush. Do people use multiple airbrushes for different types paints or one airbrush for everything?
  23. I think the slow adoption of online courses within higher education has more to do with the business of higher education resisting it. Like you said, having bodies on campus means more money for construction etc. But the current college model is untenable because it's a debt machine. When I went to college it was expected. Like going to high school. However, I'm raising my kids to avoid college until necessary. Personally I think it's a poor investment and is primarily used by employers as a way to filter the massive amounts of potential applicants since the reality is the majority of jobs can be learned with on the job training. Just to be perfectly clear, I'm not against education or becoming educated. I'm against the current business models that higher education practices. If covid helps to tear down down this business model then I believe it's one if the few silver linings to this pandemic. I do think online learning for elementary level is not good. Kids at that age need the group structure.
  24. Thank you. That was kind. I'm in Washington state but we haven't been offered online classes here. I'm not too stressed about it since the stuff they are having kindergarteners do today I didnt do till I was in first grade. I do believe we will be seeing a lot more working from home in the corporate/office world as well. Many jobs dont require people to be present at the office. This will have ramifications concerning childcare in the US as well. This has caused people to realize how dependent they are on childcare (including schools) while both parents are working. I know we are having staffing shortages because caregivers have to stay home to take care of their kids. So with schools being out for the year... I'm just wondering how our society coul be changed. 9-11 made serious changes to how airports operate. Could covid cause a resurgence in private tutors or nannies instead of group schooling or childcare? A friend of mine made an interesting observation, those workers which are deemed essential and still have to work ( groceries, childcare, medical, sanitation, etc) are the least well paid. What does that say about our society?
  25. Yes, I agree with those projections. Assuming this isolation is lifted and people are allowed to return to work, there could be future quarantines as well with each flare up. well it’s not the like the universities are up and running either so no visiting campuses and what not so I suppose there isn’t a rush.
