Are you sure you didn’t make the same mistake I did? You don’t need the middle piece for the 30 degree angle. The middle piece is only for the shallow angle. I can’t really tell by your pic but I’m pretty sure you can pull off a similar angle without mods.

That looks great! Glad to hear you got it in the end! In Canada the mail is so backed up Canada Post stopped accepting packages from retailers for 2 days just so they could clear some of the backlog. They've run out of space to store the parcels in the sorting facility yards!

Sorry to hear that. I really hate paint flaws and I was horrified when I saw Wotafa's copy. My Roy appears to have perfect paint (at least to me) that is the same as my other DXs. Also I didn't notice any loose joints except for the air brake is definitely worse than my previous DXs. That's really my only complaint though. Oh and I find the gun very difficult to install in the default poseable hands but I have that issue with all my DXs. And all my Masterpiece Transformers. Not sure why it's so hard to get a gun to fit in a hand.....

That really didn’t help because it shows exactly what my issue was. I looked at it again and my issue was that I thought you needed the extra piece to get a larger angle but you actually need the extra piece to get a smaller angle which was not intuitive to me. The extra piece is now back in the box. So my bad!

Personally I think that’s being too picky. All three of my DX’s are like that so I think that’s normal. They are pretty long thin parts so they will warp from the moulding process.

Yes I know. Mine does not fit. I’m trying to figure out if I’m doing it wrong. I don’t own the 1J so it’s my first time with this type of stand. The centre position on the 3 position part fits but I cannot use the left or right slot without breaking something. I’ll try it again later.

Possibly a dumb question, but how are you getting the plane tilted so much on the stand? On mine if I try to use either of the tilting slots on the adapter that fits on the jet the adapter interferes with the rest of the stand. If I push it on all the way it will break something for sure. So I'm tilting my jet at 15 degrees or whatever the first angle is because the 15 degrees in the other part won't work. It's not even close. Following the instructions is not helping either. Are you just not pushing the adapter on all the way? Thanks!

Yup it appears to be a Japanese name on the return address. The box is actually pretty good considering how it was packaged but mint box collectors would be pissed, I know a guy that drives for FedEx and he told me the packages are typically thrown from the belts to the trucks when they're really busy so it could have been a lot worse for sure. Of course I'm still working so I haven't actually taken the figure out of the box yet......

Not sure what you mean here? It's actually $832.43 Canadian for 2 Roys. Which ain't bad as far as I'm concerned. I paid $477 Canadian for 1 because of taxes. My Roy was just delivered one day early from FedEx! But of course the box is a bit damaged because the Ebay seller only packaged it in bubble wrap and a FedEx BAG. No shipper box. Yet another reason to avoid Ebay sellers.

Do you live in a rural area? I heard that couriers will charge ridiculous amounts if they don't have a hub near you and have to forward to another delivery service.

I’m in the same boat. I’m only collecting DYRL versions but to me the TV Roy is close enough. Of course if they ever release a DYRL version I might be weak. I’m also seriously considering the 1D because I like the colours and head design. And because it will be easier to buy. In theory! But that opens a dangerous can of worms. I’ve always liked the TV Max 1J colours and I don’t have a 1J yet....... And then I might “need” a Miria to go with him. Where’s that crack meme?

If these toys actually cost half my monthly paycheck I’d be divorced by now! I’m not going to bother with the TV supers. I already have one set of DYRL strike parts and that’s good enough for me. To me TV Roy is extremely close to the movie version so he’s going with my other movie Valks. I know it’s blasphemy!

Fedex just confirmed my taxes for Roy. Man that is painful. I was thinking that the Ebay seller had a decent price but I forgot about the taxes before pulling the trigger. I'm too used to Amazon Japan now where the taxes are paid up front and you know the total cost. $52 in taxes for a total of $477 Canadian or $368 USD. What a kick in the junk. Next time I'll wait for an Amazon seller that ships to North America. I managed to score one but I had to cancel it because I could not cancel my Ebay order. It was around $80 cheaper from the Amazon seller to my door. Anyway Roy is due to be delivered on Thursday so at least it's relatively fast shipping.

That doesn't happen from Amazon Japan DHL shipping. They charge the 13% Ontario tax up front plus reasonable shipping fee but that's it and no surprises at your door. But if you ship DHL, Fedex etc. from other stores you will most likely get dinged. My Roy is in the mail with Fedex from Japan and I'm expecting to be bent over at the door.

My Ebay order is from Japan to Canada and said nothing about sales tax. Does the sales tax get charged later? I paid weeks ago. How can the Proxy fee only be $3? They must be taking a cut of the shipping fee as well to make any money. Anyway thank you for the info! I may look into it for next time. Normally I just buy from Japanese stores and pay the markup, but this time some of the stores charged a larger markup than usual so I had to look for cheaper sources. Cheers!

Noob question! Do you need a Tenso address or another forwarding service to order from Yahoo Auctions? Or do any of the sellers ship to North America? I already bought a Roy on EBay for a sort of decent price but the Yahoo prices are better than I expected so far and I'm thinking about using it in the future. Thank you for posting those links!

Do you any of you expert predictors have any idea if / when Bandai will spring a DYRL Roy on us? My thinking is that it will be a DYRL Max 1A or a TV Kaki 1A next. Although we just had a 1A release recently so maybe another 1J? I'm trying to stick to DYRL releases only but Roy is my favourite so I'm torn on trying to get the TV release (if I can). Also if they release a TV Max or Miria 1J I would be very torn as well. I only wanted to get 4 DX VF-1s but I have a feeling I'm going to need another display shelf......

Did you order more than one set? I'm asking because there appears to be a pattern where single set orders are sent out earlier. I received my super pack set many months ago and they also respond pretty fast to my tickets to change my shipping method. I also thought that their supplier didn't have enough units so NY has been telling people that they can't get the super parts anymore. So they should be giving you store credit. I don't agree with the store credit thing but that's what NY does, unfortunately.

Just to add fuel to the fire, I heard that the State tax may be added to the item price directly just like the local Japanese tax that is part of the price for local residents. So as some have said in this thread, the price used to drop by the 10% local tax when a foreign buyer added the item to their cart, but now if your State has an online purchase tax it replaces the local Japanese tax in the purchase price and does not show up as a separate line item in the invoice. It’s buried in the purchase price itself. So the price does not drop by 10% like it used to. Now I’m in Canada so I’ve always had to pay import tax on Amazon Japan. But the Canadian taxes show up as Import Fees on the invoice so at least it’s obvious what I’m paying. 13% in my case. Another oddity is that for some reason in the last year or so Amazon Japan have been refunding 100% of my import taxes about a month after delivery. I have no idea why but it was awesome. I noticed on my last purchase that it’s been way over a month and I was not refunded my import taxes this time. So something has changed. They may have had a glitch and fixed it.

I only have two DX VF-1s but on mine for some reason (most likely tolerance variance) the Hikaru VF-1S has never popped open but my Kaki 1A pops open every single time and it's incredibly annoying. I usually just let it happen now, transform in two halves and then re-assemble at the end. So I believe you have been smiled upon by the injection molding tolerance gods. I've seriously considered gluing that clip on my Kaki because I don't care about waist swivel.

I’ve only bought Masterpiece Transformers from Amazon Japan but for the last year or so they have been refunding my import fees 100% a month or so after delivery. I have no idea why but other TF collectors are having the same thing happen. Now that is also buying directly from AJ and not a third party seller. I have no idea if it happens with Bandai DX stuff.
