Whelp... for anyone interested, I was able to get my refund from PayPal for the SSPs at NY. It took some time on the phone with a super nice lady but we were able to resolve. Thankfully, I didn't have any other orders with them. It's a shame because if they just did what other shops are doing and offered their customers a little more support than just "we'll hold it for you or you can pay a billion dollars more for UPS," I'd be able to continue shopping with them. My AJ order already shipped and should be here tomorrow.

FWIW, I was just checking with Mykombini since I have a Kaki 1A preorder with them and they have negotiated rates with FedEx to help alleviate the shipping issue. (And, no I don’t think the shipping will be resolved by Sept)

Yeah...there is no reissue and it was only Bandai. This is an original. It was perfectly sealed in pristine condition. I've had it for about a year like that and finally decided to open it. I typically live by the mantra that collectible toys are meant to be displayed and played with. Though this one will likely stay in its display haha. And I'm not going to mess with the decals. Hopefully, I can find a quality repro at some point. The decals were in such great shape (no bubbles, etc.) that I was able to get great scans at 600 dpi.

There's no such thing with NY. Haha. Same here. Not surprising and as I've said before, their customer service is a grade "C" for me. Most days I'm just fine with that, but I'm not very comfortable with it the way current circumstances are playing out. I just ordered 4 sets from AJ for less than NY's PO (including shipping for both,) so once I know that my AJ ones have shipped.... ... As @sqidd would say.

For my part, I’m not complaining. Just commenting in general about our new dilemma on shipping. It’s not NY specific though I used them as an example as it pertains to me. You’re actually turning this convo into NY specific for which there is already a thread dedicated to. (And though I was replying on SSPs there’s a shipping thread as well that I could comment on instead.) It should probably move there. But to answer briefly: First question: No, I’ve personally never experienced that before. Second question: We’re in unprecedented times. Might have to begin doing that.

LOL YUP. Same here. Mostly because there are no refunds or replacements on these things. Not enough assurances on ferry for my OCD.

For me, I absolutely should’ve done that on the SSPs looking back. But at the time, they were expected to release in Dec. I should’ve done one order EMS to satisfy outfitting my 1S and then a separate order for my future Valks on ferry. That would’ve been my preference. But all of that went sideways due to various things we’re all aware of. Sooo, here we are. And NY’s customer service (along with many other shops) are being tested in unprecedented times. Unfortunately, they’re not known for above and beyond service. I’d objectively rate them a C in that department for my tastes. And a C is just fine for me on most days. But today isn’t most days. Not complaining at all. It is what it is. I hope they can just send my large purchase ferry and refund the shipping difference. Just have a feeling they won’t accommodate or perhaps can’t due to their logistics or accounting. Hope they prove me wrong!

The main issue at hand is that commercial flights will be stunted for a long time. If JP Post contracts with commercial airlines for Int’l packages, they aren’t entirely in control of the situation as the commercial airlines are a variable. Until business travel picks up, there will be an issue. I travel for business internationally and wouldn’t be surprised if my company keeps me from doing it for the remainder of the year. So for example, if EMS doesn’t pick up again till next year, then I have very limited choices with NY for my SSPs. Either give them an interest free loan for over a year, or pay an exorbitant amount for UPS in addition to the exorbitant fee I already paid for EMS. Neither is acceptable to me. The right thing for a company would be to allow me to downgrade my shipping and refund me the difference at that point (ferry), refund me the entire purchase, or allow me to change my address to ship to a local Tenso addy and refund the difference in shipping. I have a feeling none of those will be allowed with NY and I’ll have to burn a bridge.

Indeed! Jetfire was my only “nice” TF and is the reason I collect Macross now. (Though like most Americans, Robotech is why I watched Macross.)

In the same boat. If these weren’t unprecedented circumstances I’d just file a PayPal claim but they’re usually awesome with customer service. So trying to be patient even though this has been almost 2 months since I ordered.

Are you in the States? If so, the packages will just be returned to them. EMS isn't shut down everywhere. For example, if you're in Canada, it's still good to go for the moment.
