HG didn't have the right to use the remastered Japanese audio tracks made by AE, because AE licensed those directly from Japan, so even the Harmony Gold DVD's with the Japanese audio tracks and subs are not the same and inferior to the actual AE releases.

Looking back at the first display pictures from 2014, they had the gray fast packs. I wonder what's caused the change at this point. Just an mistake perhaps? Or maybe this display is inaccurate?

It's a bit of a shame, but not necessarily a deal-breaker.

Edit: Maybe it's the lighting in the display? Maybe that white is actually a light gray? It doesn't explain why the front portion of Max's Fast Pack is white though. I don't recall ever seeing Max's VF-1J with that before. There is a brief moment where the front portion of Milia's Fast Pack is white/light gray though. That might explain some of the confusion.

Why are their arm armors the DYRL type? Aren't they supposed to have the TV type arm armors?

That is strange. I do appreciate the color coding, but it doesn't appear to be SDFM accurate (as far as I can tell).

Macross Super Dimension Fortress: Complete Box set - 36 Episodes the only way to get it? I saw a Robotech Classic collection but that only had the first 18 episodes and didn't see a volume 2.

I also see the colection you can buy fairly inexpensive on Target and Walmart but does that have the English Subs?

If you're looking for the original SDF Macross (as it was aired in Japan), with English subtitles, I believe the AnimEigo release is your best option. During the Gertalk Podcast for Delta episode 7, I believe MW member Save mentioned a card advertising the Blu-ray/DVD release was handed out at the Walkure event over the weekend. That card listed the English subtitles too, so 99.9% sounds about right.

Most of the official sources I know of just say "in 2016". The Macross Chronicle mechanic sheet for Flashback 2012's SDF-2 Megaroad-01 cites "July 2016".

The aforementioned musical greeting card from the Macross: Do You Remember Love? video game does give a specific date for the transmission of Minmay's last message to Earth... that being Thursday, the 7th of July, 2016. Presumably there was some time lag between the message being transmitted and it being received by Earth during which the ship actually disappeared.

Excellent point! I do appreciate Messer's role with Delta (he's the ace after all), and definitely agree that Hayate needs to get it together, but I'm worried about how Messer's decisions are going to affect the team down the road.

I agree about Messer. It's exactly like he said to Arad, he's a hard ass because he doesn't want them to get killed. But I think that's just his style, rather than something really calculated to hit for maximum effect.

But I disagree about Freyja. She's plenty dedicated. But she is clearly shaken by fighting against Windermere and accusations of being a traitor or spy. She needs confidence.

Yeah, I retract most of my complaints about Messer being a jerk.

He may be overdoing it, and too stiff for anyone around him to realize it, but he does actually care. And with them going to war, Messer's soldierly guidance is, honestly, what Delta squadron needs most.

A bit of a re-post on my part, but it's gotta be done...

Episode 6, Messer to Hayate: "You're not even worth talking to."

It's comments like this make me loathe Messer even more, especially considering he can't/won't admit to his own problems when asked directly. He's clearly affected by Heinz's song. He didn't share that information with the rest of the team or Major Arad during their one on one.

I'm even more convinced Messer's pride is going to lead to tragedy at some point in the series, and unfortunately I think Arad is going to be the casualty. I do hope I'm wrong though, as Arad is my favorite Delta member (calm, cool, collected, thoughtful, level-headed and...Kaname).

No doubt Hayate, Mirage, and Freyja still need guidance, which they're clearly up for...but they deserve better than Messer/Mikumo.

Also curious to see how many episodes end up on the second disc. I believe the first disc contains the first three episodes (as well as .89).

If the second disc also has three episodes, I think that'd be a good indication the entire run will be 27 episodes.

I saw some tracking numbers on 4chan for the first BD/DVD so take this with a bit of salt. Apparently it's tracking well over the 10k-12k range.

I know English subtitles were confirmed for the first disc in the series, but do you know if they've been confirmed for the second disc (or remaining discs)?
