How was Messer's Valkyrie still intact? At the end of the last episode it was plummeting from the sky. Does the AI take over at some point and stop it from crashing? I know there was a discussion regarding the AI in Hayate's Valkyrie being disabled in an earlier episode.
On another note, I don't think there's any indication that Kaname had feelings for Messer. I think his connection to her through "Axia" came as a complete surprise, however there's no doubt that revelation deeply affected her. My guess is that Messer's death will ultimately bring Kaname and Arad closer together.
Finally, I agree with the criticism regarding the last few conflicts between Delta and the Aerial Knights. Having the episodes end without resolving the skirmishes in some fashion is growing increasingly disappointing.

A thought...
Why hasn't the Elysion lifted off and fought against the Windermerians? Couldn't it do some massive damage to them?
Hopefully someone can provide the proper terminology, but if I recall correctly...there's some type of fold barrier surrounding Windermere that would not allow them to do so. Assuming you're asking why they haven't straight-up headed to Windermere, taking the fight to them.
Also, although I believe Windermere has declared war, everyone else involved appears to be on the defensive...focused on countering the Var.
I imagine we're going to see the Elysion deployed at some point, and am definitely looking forward to where this series is headed.

Windermere women haven't been the focus of the story. Unless they bring in a female character to the story.
Right...we still don't have many details on the Windermerians backstory at this point. Maybe that will eventually flesh some things out, and possibly introduce some other characters.
We know there was a war with the New United Government 7 years prior, a dimensional weapon caused mass destruction on the Windermerian home world, and they're now fighting to free/control the Brisingr Globular Cluster (so they say).
And, unless their interest in the Protocultre Ruins is strictly based on controlling other worlds, I think something else might be going on there.
-
I don't know that it's relevant to the series at this point (or at all), but I've noticed a lack of prominent Windermerian women...other than Freyja of course.
Does the Windermerian King have a wife? Did he have a wife? Who was she? What happened to her?
Apparently Keith is a bastard (not just because he killed Messer), but who was his mother? Where is she?
There are just no other Windermerian women other than Freyja at this point.
I don't know if it's simply oversight, a purposeful omission (due to story/time constraints), but I've also been wondering if it has anything to do with the "scar" of Windermere.

I just realized...
Chuck's sister never managed to tell Messer she likes him.
Right, I believe that's the "waitress" I referred to earlier (I forgot that she's Chuck's sister).
I don't recall seeing her character in the last few episodes, but she's in every opening wistfully watching Messer...so I'm reminded of her each week.

I was no fan of Messer, but still felt some sympathy because he had the Var.
Quite a shocking way to be taken out though, and that waitress on Ragna is going to be devastated.

Nice to see another release so soon, but I wonder if this will affect the anticipated Max/Milia VF-1Js?
Still hoping for a Hikaru, Max and Kakizaki DYRL VF-1A release as well.

HG didn't have the right to use the remastered Japanese audio tracks made by AE, because AE licensed those directly from Japan, so even the Harmony Gold DVD's with the Japanese audio tracks and subs are not the same and inferior to the actual AE releases.
Great information! Thanks for sharing that.

The following message is currently on the Home page of MyKombini:
EMS Fees (20 May 2016) :
Dear Customers,
Thank you for using Mykombini.
Starting from June 1st, 2016, Japan Post will increase their shipping fees for EMS.
Due to this price increase, we study other shipping solutions.
The new EMS fees will be applied to all orders shipped from June 1st, 2016 onwards, regardless of the date when the order was placed.
Thank you for your understandingJust a heads up, as I imagine this will impact other online retailers as well.
Hopefully the increase isn't too bad.

Mad Dog Messer!
I'm definitely softening on Messer and Mikumo. For a moment there I was genuinely nervous that one of them was going to bite the bullet at some point in this episode. It just wouldn't be the same without either of them around. I hope he makes a quick recovery from the Var.
Another great episode.
edit: I will say, I was hoping we'd get some additional information regarding Mikumo and the ruins, but it looks like the focus may have actually been how the ruins respond to Freyja instead.

In the anime the paint on the supers is not consistent so for now I'm not bothered.
Consistency is definitely an issue, as this old thread confirms: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/?showtopic=33919

The Max and Milia color schemes reflect bandai's colorschemes for their 1/72 models. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/5d/8f/f8/5d8ff8e7f72cdd4a3d94e0a65bc89017.jpg
Ah...got it. This sort of explains the HMR release. At least in terms of where the color schemes came from. Thanks for pointing this out.

Same reason the 1J pilot is wearing the wrong flight suit. Bandai cutting corners again.
Looking back at the first display pictures from 2014, they had the gray fast packs. I wonder what's caused the change at this point. Just an mistake perhaps? Or maybe this display is inaccurate?
It's a bit of a shame, but not necessarily a deal-breaker.
Edit: Maybe it's the lighting in the display? Maybe that white is actually a light gray? It doesn't explain why the front portion of Max's Fast Pack is white though. I don't recall ever seeing Max's VF-1J with that before. There is a brief moment where the front portion of Milia's Fast Pack is white/light gray though. That might explain some of the confusion.

Why are their arm armors the DYRL type? Aren't they supposed to have the TV type arm armors?
That is strange. I do appreciate the color coding, but it doesn't appear to be SDFM accurate (as far as I can tell).

Hi I'm new here and want to apologize if this has been posted before. I'm looking for the Robotech Macross series with Audio in Japan and english Subs. Is this
Macross Super Dimension Fortress: Complete Box set - 36 Episodes the only way to get it? I saw a Robotech Classic collection but that only had the first 18 episodes and didn't see a volume 2.I also see the colection you can buy fairly inexpensive on Target and Walmart but does that have the English Subs?
Thanks again
Kevin
If you're looking for the original SDF Macross (as it was aired in Japan), with English subtitles, I believe the AnimEigo release is your best option. Here's an eBay listing for the AnimEigo version: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MACROSS-Super-Dimension-Fortress-Vol-1-9-Complete-Box-Set-AnimEigo-/191670672085?hash=item2ca0765ad5:g:~zMAAOSwmrlUwvPK
If you keep looking around, you'll most likely find one a bit less expensive though. You can find it as a complete box set or as three individual sets (1-3, 4-6, 7-9).
Here's some other information regarding different releases as well: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=118002
Hope this helps, and happy to answer any other questions you may have.

I'm with the SDFM (DYRL) camp as well. That's all I'm really interested in at this point.

You're correct, that was me. I especially wanted to make sure that was mentioned since I had seen your post prior to recording.
The proof is in the Tweet Pudding:
Most excellent! Thanks again for sharing this information.

All around great episode: even Messer and Mikumo didn't bother me.
I'm hoping Mikumo singing in the Protoculture ruin somehow activates it and frees planet Voldor...or at least allows for a Delta/Walkure escape. Those stalactite/stalagmite looking pipes in the ruin look like they could act as an excellent resonator and/or amplifier.
-
99.9% sure the entire series will be English subbed.
It wouldn't make sense for them to provide it for the first then just drop it. That's just bad business practice...either provide it or don't.
During the Gertalk Podcast for Delta episode 7, I believe MW member Save mentioned a card advertising the Blu-ray/DVD release was handed out at the Walkure event over the weekend. That card listed the English subtitles too, so 99.9% sounds about right.
Thanks for mentioning that Save!

Thanks for another entertaining and informative Gertalk Podcast. It's nice to hear the thoughts of new and returning participants as well. Great job all around, especially considering how quickly you get these out.

Most of the official sources I know of just say "in 2016". The Macross Chronicle mechanic sheet for Flashback 2012's SDF-2 Megaroad-01 cites "July 2016".
The aforementioned musical greeting card from the Macross: Do You Remember Love? video game does give a specific date for the transmission of Minmay's last message to Earth... that being Thursday, the 7th of July, 2016. Presumably there was some time lag between the message being transmitted and it being received by Earth during which the ship actually disappeared.
Thank you so much for the detailed information!
I'll have to plan something Macross related for July 7th then.
Edit: I searched for an image of the greeting card and the message within, but came up empty-handed. Have you ever seen the card or an image of it? Thanks again!
Second Edit: I haven't found a picture of the card, but did find a site with a translation of Minmei's last message here: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/OTother/MinmeiLastMessage.php

The 1st large-scale long-distance emigrant fleet led by Megaroad-01 lost contact with Earth in 2016 somewhere near the galactic core and hasn't been heard from since.
Do you know if a specific date regarding when contact was lost has ever been published?
I found mention of July 2016 on Wikipedia and a few other sites, but I'm curious where this information came from.
As a fan of the series I'd also like to make note of it to commemorate this year.
