I use A/C all the time, windows are usually kept closed, and I spend very little time around my displays... and with a regular influx of new stuff, displays are updated often enough that dust isn't a significant problem. Plus, those ships are easily accessible for dusting.
The 1:18 Tomcat that hangs above them, however...
This one can only be accessed with a ladder, and hasn't been dusted in several years.
>> I spend very little time around my displays
If I had a room like that I'd be spending a lot of time in it, especially with the AC on :P

I was curious there seem to be lots of options. I hope it goes down in price later on after release so I can try it!

I would gloss coat parts that need decals before and after applying them. You can then do the weathering either over the gloss for a more clean look or dull coat it for a more gritty look. Then seal it with dull coat. Those kits actually look great out of the box.
OK thanks! I actually like handling the Bandai scopedog because it's chunky and doesn't feel fragile. If it wasn't expensive and the box so big (compared to the kits I usually buy), I'd have bought more variants of them! And I really love the box art! I wonder who the artist is.

Has anybody been following this line from Bandai? Is this based on a series or game? It has a simpler look compared to gunpla which makes it seem 'fresh' to me.

Question for those with the Bandai 1/20 scopedog kits...
I'm thinking of someday doing some weathering on it. Do I apply some sort of coating on it before I put on the stickers? I'm probably only going to use the weathering sets from Tamiya, then a top coat (flat? any brand recommendations?). I want to avoid using paint (or anything else more complicated than the weathering sets).
I already assembled the kit, but I like to enjoy it for now in its 'fresh off the factory' look. So I haven't applied the stickers yet and it's still in its original box.

After Bandai's long-awaited Star Destroyer was announced -- at a disappointingly small 1:5000 scale -- I decided to get the Zvezda 1:2700 kit (distributed in the West by Revell) instead:
It scales much better with the rest of the fleet.
Assembly was easy, but wiring it for fiber-optics is gonna be a pain...!
How do you keep this room clean from dust?
In my 3rd world country I'd have to keep the windows closed ALL THE TIME and install an AC.

Anyone know what's this poll is all about?
Thanks for posting this @seti88 It made for a more interesting Friday night
Also, according to the site the results will be known in May, via BS premium live broadcast. Hopefully folks in Japan will help us know the winners.
And for those needing to think about their answers, fear not! Survey will be open until April 21, 11:59 pm.

My choices:
Favorite Anime: SDF Macross (would have also chosen Macross Frontier)
Favorite Character: Sheryl. I thought if I picked Sheryl we might see more of her
Favorite Mecha: VF31C. I had a problem with this one, it was so hard to choose! My choices were Focker's VF1S, Miriya's red VF1J, Hikaru's VF1D, and of course Mirage's VF31C. But I like the VF31C's color the best so I went with it. I think this was the hardest to vote on lol
Favorite Song: I also had a hard time with this one. I went with Northern Cross.

It's in order:
Why did you make your choice? (200 characters or less)
Age (it's a drop down)
Your nickname (guess preferred name)
gender
Prefecture (ie where you live, also a drop down)
For those not in Japan, scroll to the last entry 日本国外, so that you don't have to choose a prefecture. It means outside of Japan.
Edit: For gender, first radio button is 'Male', second radio button is 'Female'.

Page: https://www.nhk.or.jp/anime/macross/
Light Blue Box: Favorite Anime
Teal Box: Favorite Character
Light Violet Box: Favorite Mecha
Orange Box: Favorite SongEdit: Choose a box, then you choose the series. From there you can choose the character/mecha/song. Then the questionnaire appears. After answering, enable the checkbox (consent), then click the button
tothe right button to send your vote. When you choose there's questionnaire, I'll try answering...

Don't get too excited... I've rounded up four other translators to help, but we're still estimating it's going to take something on the order of six months to a year per volume.
(Srsly tho, any CSS gurus out there wanna throw me a bone and help unf*ck this stylesheet nightmare I've invited myself into? The O'Reilly book for it is so big I could use it to crush rats.)... cautious optimism for this book is increasing.
Several of those pics are downright gorgeous.
Wouldn't it be easier to use some theme? Personally I care more about the content and don't mind a simple web site. A lot of sites are too fancy they are so slow to load it's a hassle (especially with 3rd world internet connection speeds). I think web development has a lot of this unneeded complexity that's why I don't want to do it myself if I can help it and just rely on themes :P

I am officially worried for my Space Leo. It's been in PHLPost purgatory hell for almost a week.
It's not even the Christmas season why can they be so slow...
The postman finally decided to get out and work today, and delivered my Space Leo! I was in such a frustrated mood last week, but this week has seen my mood become much better!
And I was already set to go to the post office, complete with a printed invoice of my order haha.

I loved the FZ's "walking tank" design from the beginning.
I know I said my wallet sighed in relief at the MG Alex, but every time I see this picture I get the increasing urge to 'collect them all'. LOL
I'll just have to re-evaluate my finances when they come out. For now I'm not inclined to get them.

Attached are some shots of the book's contents... it has an abnormally large number of full-page images, but they're pretty well done.
* snipped*
(Since it's not immediately clear what this diagram is... that is the M9's Ross & Humbleton APR2500a palladium thermionic reactor.
I rather liked this diagram, which shows the movement of the mechanical articulations inside the M9's knee joint.
The US Army M9 Gernsback mass production type eliminated the two 12.7mm chainguns in the head in favor of replacing the XM18 wire gun in the right arm with a single 12.7mm rotary cannon.
Thanks for posting these, Seto. I like those diagrams, but does not move me enough to purchase. The logic to set this in-universe does not make sense to me. Maybe the makers were just scratching an itch to do these 'real' versions? At least I don't have to worry about missing out on this book.

My copy just rolled in this morning, practically still warm from the printing press.
It's not quite what I had expected.
Indeed, in the most erect of dick moves the MITHRIL M9 Gernsback isn't even on the actual cover... just the obi. It feels a bit like false advertising since that's the M9 that everyone's most familiar with from the light novel, anime, manga, etc.
Virtually all of Master File Arm Slave: M9 Gernsback is about the mass production Geotron M9 Gernsback used by the US Army. Most of the coverage is of the initial production type M9 Gernsback (front left) that appeared only briefly in the ninth volume of the Full Metal Panic! light novel in the hands of Delta Force. The M9A2 Gernsback Enhanced (facing right) and M9A2SOP Gernsback Sigma Elite (top center) from Full Metal Panic! Another figure less prominently, but still get a decent amount of attention. All mention of MITHRIL and the M9s it used are crammed into the last ten pages, which is mostly "amateur photos" of them in the field.
Not a bad book by any means, but I feel like more attention should've been given to the MITHRIL XM9D Falke, XM9E Gernsback, and ARX-7 Arbalest.
EDIT: Will post some photos of the contents later today.
Annnd I just lost interest in the book lol

I'm tempted just to see the line art (it will have it right?), but I have no budget for this. I'll put this in the list of 'maybe' future purchases and forget for now.

BBTS have synthetic humans on deck. Not the test type but not much difference.
I already have the synthetic human with the light green color scheme. That's why I'm drooling over the test type. :)

Just saw this. As a non-manga reader blissfully unaware of whatever was butchered, I thought this was good. Not great, but definitely worth the ticket I paid for it.

@hachi, it was limited sale at https://toys-to-art.com i bought 2 copies for 8000 yen each using fromjapan.co.jp
Thanks @enphily! That site looks like a weird collection toys, but the really appealing ones are expensive-for example that Snake Eyes has a DX Chogokin-level price @_@
I guess I'll have to be content with drooling over that synthetic human for now...

I use an Olfa hobby knife and Tamiya nippers.
Make sure to buy spare blades for your hobby knife, if the blade gets dull you are far more likely to cut yourself, so switch out blades if they dull. Also the sharper the knife, the better a cut will seal back up. Pro-tip: superglue works great as an instant bandage.
I second the Olfa hobby knife. I use 2 nippers, a bigger diagonal side cutter for thick runners, then a hobby nipper for smaller ones or clean up. Olfa knife I use for when the hobby nipper can't cut anymore.

Sorry to hear that, sir. Since it's PHLpost, one word pops in my head. They need 'lagay'.
I am hoping that is not the case. The item is well under 10k pesos they don't really have a reason to ask for it.
On 2/21/2019 at 1:38 PM, chyll2 said:what method of shipping did you pick? Can I know the first two letter of tracking if it is SAL? If you are in metro and you picked EMS, chances are your item is in Pasay already.
The shipping method was EMS. This is not the first time my stuff has been delayed but the reason lately has been insufficient documentation blah3x. Why I am doubly worried is because it is a P-Bandai item and I really, really do not want to cough up the $$$ to buy another one. What if the postman was a Gundam Wing fan??? ^_^; (Unless I suddenly become a millionaire then I'll buy the damn thing 10x lol)
