To those who ordered P-Bandai Maganacs (Rashid et al customs), have yours shipped? Curious since it's almost August in a few days.

I got my shipping notice. I was being impatient lol

How many people actually ordered that set, and how many will actually build them all?  I got one, built it, and am happy.  Sure I'd love to have one or two of the custom ones, but not so much that I'll buy a few dozen extras just for them...

Lol didn't buy that 36-set. Got the 2 customs because I didn't want to regret not buying in a few months like what happened with the PBandai Leos.

‘Balikbayan Box’ it, my dear good sir. ;)

Eh but I want to take it with to save on shipping costs :p

Cut the parts off the runners into bags, and you'll save over half the weight and space (unless you decide to keep the box).

Rearranging the contents and flattening the box is a good idea, I'll keep this in mind.

I have the Alex, and fitting that box may be tough. It’s a fairly good sized box, but not the biggest.

Ok, thanks for the info! I think it's the only big kit I really want to buy in Japan. (for now..)

Is all that easier than just ordering from an online shop and having them ship it?

The last time I was in Japan my luggage was smaller--the stuff I bought wasn't that heavy but took up a lot of space. So I bought bigger check-in luggage and of course I'd look to fit in the biggest kit I can lol

Aldnoah.Zero is rapidly shaping up to be one of the worst-written original mecha anime properties I've seen in recent years.

How did this hot mess manage to last 24 episodes without being cancelled?  I'm four episodes in and the setting makes basically no sense.  How did Mars evolve a strict feudal society rife with fantastic racism when it's only been colonized for thirty years?  How did the Martian colonists reverse engineer enough technology to put them centuries ahead of Earth in an even shorter span of time?  Why is a high school student with an at-best moderate grasp of science consistently more effective than the most highly trained soldiers despite having an old training mecha instead of a state-of-the-art military machine?  There are plot holes big enough to hide a planet in all throughout this series.

    Hide contents  Hide contents

The threat posed by the Martian Kataphrakts the Orbital Knights are using is massively oversold.  Sure, they have incredible abilities, but absolutely nobody except Inaho seems to be willing or able to look past those capabilities to consider how they do those things and what the implications are.  Nobody noticed the big freaking camera drones that initial Kataphrakt was using to see until Inaho pointed them out?  How d'you miss something apparently the size of a minivan hovering at low altitude?  One would be hard enough to overlook, never mind half a dozen.  This entire series is only possible because everyone in it is a drooling moron.

Nowhere is that conclusion more obvious than the episode I just watched, where the Martian Kataphrakt of the week is literally just a robot with a plasma sword that's used as a way to deflect incoming fire.  Despite watching the enemy Kataphrakt repeatedly detonate high explosive rounds in midair with the heat of its blade, NOBODY except Inaho has the brains to try different types of ammunition to see if something that isn't explosive fares better... or simply hitting him from the side that isn't holding the sword.

That's right, this antagonist is only a threat because nobody thought to attack him from the two sides he wasn't covering with the only weapon he has.

Irony of ironies, Inaho probably would've had even more success if he'd just dropped the heavy shipping containers he used to smack the enemy Kataphrakt with on it from the top of the crane... instead of blinding its entire left side he could've taken its entire bloody head off.

For me it had interesting characters and mecha. I never thought about it too seriously because the feudal society + mechs was already fantastical to begin with. With brain turned off I enjoyed the show (but not saying it was that good). That said I have KG Sleipner kit that I bought 3 years ago and still haven't got to building it lol. Frankly I don't even know where to put it--my finished Scopedog is still also in the box. Damn these space problems  T_T

  4. Recently finished Crest of the Stars vol 1. It was my first digital light novel purchase, thanks to J-Novel Club. It's a great complement for those who have seen the anime, though I'm not sure for new readers. Although to be honest, I was able to finish this much faster than the Legend of Galactic Heroes novel. Hopefully J-Novel Club will be able to complete both Crest and Banner content--and looking forward to the physical book releases next year. And I remember reading fan translations of stuff after Banner of the Stars III, so I hope these are also eventually officially translated as well.

Then the camera panned over to the audience and it was Shoji Kawamori! After a short chat, they announced the name of the new title -‘Gekijouban Macross Delta : Zettai Live! Then Shoji Kawamori held up his palm with his fingers stretched out – signaling 5. Then he added his light stick in the middle of this palm – a 6th member for Walkure!  (Tenjin Hidetaka was also present)

    I'm thinking hard....

    Heinz will join Walkure!

j/k. It's a hilarious outcome I wonder what people's reactions would be if that happens.

Just so you know, the book itself cost Y12000 as posted on the Kawamori Expo website goods page. So the Y16000 posted by the YJA seller is already a good price.

    https://kawamoriexpo.jp/s/ex01/page/goods?ima=4358

Maybe that's a good price but there's too many hoops to go through to spend that kind of money. I could buy several other things in the meantime much easier and much faster  Macross is not my only hobby/interest, I have other 'mouths' to feed. Sorry Kawamori :p

That sounds about right honestly. It’s not even the cost so much as the rarity that gets me..

I'd gladly pay 8000 yen max but I refuse to go through hoops. I want a straightforward purchase option. But there's no such option so yeah, I'll forget about it.

This book was available for PO only via the Kawamori Expo...so only if you attended the event.

Your two options are to find a proxy to bid on the book for you via YJA...or wait until it is released and hope to win one via YJA or perhaps buy it from Mandarake if they list one.

If you go for the one linked by @no3ljm....you need to make sure your proxy can complete the transaction.  Basically, the seller is auctioning his PO purchase code that he/she received at the event.  Your proxy would then need to go to the dedicated website for the book's PO and complete the order.  It will then ship to the proxy in Japan and they can then ship to you once it releases and arrives to their address.

Thanks for the detailed info. Fortunately I'm not that desperate to go through all those hoops for such a book.

Damn why do you do this Kawamori!

The seats - they're balloted. You can't choose. Even which day you want to attend the concert have to be balloted! A lot of the fans got 2 tickets for one day and so they exchanged with those who got the other day. It's very difficult to get the tickets - we tried it at 3 balloting sessions and still got none. finally a friend helped us out (May'n fan). The chances for LIVE VIEWING at selected cinemas was much better. We accumulated something like 20 tickets and we needed only 4.

Haha that's a big hurdle to overcome. I would settle for a cinema but yeah, still no $$$.

I was wondering why you didn't want to create new accounts for those toys. Only to realize that you're in the Philippines. ^_^ Have you tried GreatToys? Or any shops at Greenhills?

I prefer getting them online from JP shops as they are generally cheaper. And shopping online with a credit card means I don't feel as much guilt versus having to physically get the money from my wallet

Did they happen to have a sample copy of the book that seems to have been available for purchase via PO?

Hoping to get one once they actually get published.  The previous Kawamori exhibit companion book proved to be hard to come by when it first came out and now hardly ever shows up on auction or Mandarake.

Please somebody post a preorder link for this T_T

*edit Preferably Amazon JP or CDJapan or HLJ

If it is a TWE, there's a chance they might not. And there's a lot of Son Goku figures. There's a Son Goku available at CrunchyRoll and BBTS for $34.99 if you're interested.

Thanks no3Ljm, it's a nice price, but I don't like creating new accounts only for these figures just yet. Fortunately they are not TWE but I wish Bandai would re-release soon while I still have the budget for it :D

  13. Thanks for the pics and the write up! It's unfortunate about Mari Ijima's performance but she is getting older. And on second thought I am ok I missed this concert if the venue was flat. Were you able to choose your seat or was it assigned randomly?

    >>I would definitely go for that, if there was one! (Is that a Hint?) –  about a week after this concert – they announced a tribute to Macross 7 concert at Zepp Tokyo (Odaiba) in September 2019!

I have bad luck that this year (and last year also) that financially I am unable to get funds to go to this concert or even Japan. I have missed Kawamori's Expo, this Crossover Live, and damn hearing the songs live in the Macross 7 tribute would have been awesome. It seems I picked the wrong years to go to Japan T_T

  14. Now that VF1D has been released, I really have not been enthusiastic lately for more HMR. I will be in hyper mode though if they tease Queadlunn Raus :D

Here's my VF-4, which I posted in my twitter but haven't posted here. I haven't played though with my VF1D I was just content at having them lol. I also haven't opened my latest box from HLJ with the gunpla goodies. (It also doesn't help that real-life stuff eats into the toy budget...But as an adult you can't get away from it.)
