Yes it has, a long time ago with the Avengers releases.

IIRC Figma did one, but not Figuarts?

Star Lord and Rocket showed up today.  I'm surprised I haven't seen a single review online for them.

http://blog.livedoor.jp/hacchaka/archives/52012328.html is a Rocket Raccoon review at least. Starlord didn't release until the 22nd however so maybe that's resulted in the delays. There was a 2chan thread for it at least.

nice to see them missile effect parts holding up well without stands...B))

You can actually see the right wing's missile pod sagging heavily from the wing due to the weight. In my experience they WILL hold on, but I personally wouldn't trust keeping them that way without the stand for very long. If nothing else, seems like it could warp the hardpoint (peg or socket) if kept without support for too long.

Patience is all we got going:lol: But allowing the VF2ss first dibs over the very  first VF in animation history (kind of like Bumble bee and WJ being the very first TF in animation not getting a toy/figure) is kind of like a slap.:(

Eh, the VF-1D is significant in two parts of Macross, but overall not that important in the grand scheme of things. Meanwhile there's been one other VF-2 figure and it's apparently a god-awful monstrosity that should never have left the unholy factories that produced it. There's clearly SOME demand for the design or they wouldn't have made an entire new transforming mold with all the extra stuff it has. Meanwhile, at worst, the VF-1D got set back one spot in the launch cycle, somehow fans of the VF-1D will survive a bit longer. Plus with there being two equally valid color schemes to go off of there's a good chance that whichever scheme you preferred wouldn't have been the first made anyways.

Nice, where do they sell it as 3 packs?

As noted, they're currently sold out or pre-order locked due to demand and it having been a while since the last reprint, but they're being re-released from another reprint at the end of this month. ALL the packages of Tamashii Stage Act 5s (and 4s) are actually 3-packs. There's also things like the Trident stands that are just one large stand, but can hold 3+ items per stand. HLJ will probably have some in stock at the end of the month. Keep an eye out on September 30th when they release. You can see the info on them here: http://tamashii.jp/item/1345/

I will be giving those stands to the VF-1s I have that didn't come with them.

It might be worth grabbing a pack or two of Tamashii Stage Act.5 stands. They're getting a re-print at the end of this month, and are ~$10 for a three pack of them.

  6. Owning both, I agree that there's no real point to directly comparing, as they're not trying to be the same thing. Yamato/Arcadia figures are perfect transformation, high detail collectibles and Hi-Metal Rs are pretty blatantly just plain higher end toys. The small scale both makes it easier to display them and fiddle with them, but also makes it viable to make the destroids and Zentradi mechs in the same scale as part of the same line. Imagine trying to make a mass release 1/60 scale Monster or even Glaug.

  7. Yeesh. Finally got my Lil' Draken set in. The outer left leg pod was quite a pain to get in. Finally had to carefully shave what seemed to be excess plastic out of the tooth on that pod to get it to snap in like the others cleanly did. Kind of sad they didn't include a set of posed hands just for holding the sword, too.

I wonder why MyKombini doesn't have a preorder up

Sometimes they're slow to put things up. I had to poke at them to put up the Soul of Chogokin Big O re-release recently. Could try sending them a message to ask. I'd make sure to link the tamashii.jp page or use the full name of it to make things absolutely clear.

Do we know the VE-1 price yet? If it's cheap, it will be preorder madness. If it's over like 12,000 Yen, it won't be so hard. That's my guess any way. It will definitely sell better than the destroids.

Bandai hasn't updated the Tamashii website with the stuff going up for pre-order on the 1st yet for some reason. So no price just yet.

Yeah. I skipped Messer's VF-1 repaint too. Not to say that I don't like creative paint schemes, but his VF-31 livery looks strange on the VF-1. If Bandai had released one of the Delta VF-1 trainers or a standard low-vis paint scheme, I would have been into that.

I grabbed it because I don't have a VF-1S and don't have that strong of an attachment to the Hikaru or Roy version to want to go spend secondary market web exclusive money on them. Not when they lack the improvements like the clavical plate that newer ones have. The anniversary one looks interesting and nets me a VF-1S at only slightly over normal market price for a FAST Pack-less HMR valk.

Still not sure why they didn't do the trainers as a tie-in, but maybe that'll come later once they have the basic stuff released and can throw out repaints without interfering with those?

  11. I'll admit I'm getting confused by everyone thinking it's going to be like 15k yen. My guess would be a little over Max, under $100 still at the worst. I'd legit be surprised if it's over $100.

This is awesome news (VT-1 can't be far behind) as I missed out on the old Yamato V.2's. However please tell me this is not until like the middle of next year, between three VF-2SS's. the SDF-1, and three other PO's I am tapped out $$$ wise.

No seriously, I am the SDF-1 Wallet gif at this point!

I'd imagine it's January or February at the latest.

  13. No indication of it being a web exclusive either, by the look of it?

edit: Derp, pickup page outright says they're for general release unless I'm horribly misinterpreting the translation.

Did anyone else preorder their Defender from AmiAmi? I haven't received any invoice from them yet even though the item is already in stock. I did combine it with another preorder I have due this month, so could that be the reason? Do they wait for all items in the order to be in stock before they send the invoice?

    That's exactly why, yeah.

Quick question on the Glaug: do the arms rotate at that domed area at the base of the cannons? They're misaligned on mine, but I'm not sure if that area wants to rotate. Pic attached. And thanks in advance!

    100_1106.JPG

I'll back up the other guy and confirm that, yes, there's rotation joint where the domes connect to the weapon pods. I've used it on mine just fine. You'll just want to make sure to grip firmly over the dome/"elbow" area and the pod, then slowly apply pressure if you have any concerns about stressing the hinge joint behind it. On mine it wasn't that hard to mess with.

  16. Got my Defender in. It's pretty damn nice and solid I have so say. Eye track is interesting to mess with, and quite well jointed for a walking AA gun.

I'm not sure what the the hate was about. Just watched it and thought it was pretty good.

I thought it was just fine so long as you went into it understanding that a westernized, cleaned up version of the themes and plot of Ghost in the Shell was inevitable and they'd never just do a straight 1:1 transfer of them into a movie.

  18. Oh, wow. Uh. It definitely looks cleaner than THAT. Especially for the scale it's using. Wow, no wonder people complained so much about it.

  19. Underside looked a little complicated but fine to me from what I saw, but I'm not actually very familiar with the VF-2 so I don't know.

I do know I'm going to be slamming some buttons on July 3rd between that, a Code Geass RD or two, and Figuarts Bat'fleck.
