  1. Gotta say my CF VF-1A and Hik's VF-1J feel about the same quality wise. No obviously differing joint stiffness or anything. The right side headlaser does like to pop out some when I handle the head too much, but meh. It goes back in just fine. Left the VF-1A in battroid mode, but the J is in Gerwalk and nothing popped off or anything. Even had tested the tail when just plain fiddling with it and that seemed fine.

And, yeah. Millia's is a web exclusive, Max is a general release. Kind of annoying given he's out and she's not out until March, IIRC.

  2. I've noticed the shoulder tightness, and it is vaguely concerning. I try to lightly roll the shoulder joint to get it a bit loosened up, then move it into place. That and in general worked it around a little to get a feel for it when my VF-1A and VF-1J arrived. Keeping an eye on things while moving it hasn't shown any signs of stressing, but I definitely keep that one guy's VF-1S in mind with that part. Shame, since otherwise these are amazing and I haven't had a single concern over their sturdiness.

  3. It's definitely sound advice. At least open it up, check the trays for anything obviously missing or broken. Maybe pop the plastic open for a closer look if you want then put it all away. It'll all go back in just fine, so no harm in looking it over except a few minutes of your time.

  4. Just got my payment request as well. Toot. I have to wait for the Iron Man mk 3, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and a few other things so I really shouldn't ship it and the second VF-1A until the end of the month.

  5. You can try to ask them nicely to cancel the order. It sometimes works.

Or sometimes they get angry and close your account. The stories I hear of AmiAmi and their seemingly bi-polar support has made me avoid them so far. HLJ, NY, MyKombini, or just plain using Amazon have all worked out nicely so far.

  6. I said I wouldn't get any of the missile effect parts, but I'm weak so I got two. I think sh9000 is the undisputed king of Hi-Metal R. I'm at 9 Regults, 1 Glaug, 1 Monster, 3 CF Brownies, 2 missile effects, and 1 of each of the currently released and on pre-order hero valks.

If it makes you feel any better I didn't even have any of my pre-ordered HM-Rs yet when I pre-ordered two of the missile effect parts.

  7. Weirdest thing, I only got my VF-1A and VF-1J on Monday yet somehow I just pre-ordered another VF-1A to go out with my Max's VF-1J and other November goodies. What the hell just happened?

  8. Wow, just got my hands on some VF-1s after having had the Glaug for a while. It's rather surprising just how nice they are despite the small size, and I'm already having to resist the urge to get a second VF-1A just to have more of the damned things. Makes me glad I'd already pre-ordered Max and Millia's VF-1Js. Now I just need to hope they do some sort of re-release of Hikaru's VF-1S and separate FAST Packs finally.

  9. I have a 1/48th scale VF-1J Millia ver. that I'm hoping to sell. Box is in good shape, stickers and instructions are still bagged and taped to the bottom of the inner box. Toy itself was displayed on a tripod stand and transformed to Gerwalk mode maybe once or twice but otherwise left in fighter mode. No smoking, not directly in UV light. Was dusted regularly and wiped off before being put back in its box but there might be a little bit of dust in a nook or cranny here or there despite my efforts.

Hoping for $300 shipped to anywhere in the US for it.

    I also have a set of all 6 Soul of Chogokin Evangelion units. 00, 00 Kai, 01, 02, 03, and 04.

A few have loose joints, which just seems to be a problem they develop over time. Apparently you can pop off the screw covers and tighten the screws to fix that, I haven't personally done so. Unit 03's battery pack is missing its lower clip to hold it onto the fin but includes a second battery pack that also only has the upper clip. Most of the entry plugs have varying degrees of yellowing, not sure why since they weren't in direct sunlight. Unit 04 includes a second set of hands that are black instead of purple but is missing one of them. All of the original purple hands are present. Unit 01 is also missing its secondary horn IIRC. All boxes are in good shape, including the Styrofoam inserts to hold the Eva units.

Hoping to get $300 for the set of six, shipped anywhere in the us, but am willing to haggle.

  10. Ideally, I'm hoping someone has a YF-21 to part out who is willing to part out the front of their YF-21 (from the bend-in-half 'neck' joint just behind the front landing gear), although all I specifically need is the underside of that section. My YF-21 took a nosedive, landed badly, and stress-fractured at the big double-joint, specifically on said 'belly' plate for the forward section that holds said piece.

I'm not sure just how heavily the unit comes apart, but really all I need is the blue bottom plate for the front section.

  11. Myself, I'd love to have side covers, handsets, and extra weapon sets. Anything else would be gravy after that much. An Armored Gerwalk valk release would be absolutely amazing and I wouldn't argue against the VF-1SR either, or any other 'obscure' variant valks that give more choice outside of the standard Skull Team/Grunt/ThrowABoneorTwo set of options.

  12. I've tried once or twice before, but, eh, might as well try again.

I've been trying to get my hands on just the Strike Cannon part of the 'Stealth' FAST Packs for a while, to no real success. Anyone willing to part one out? Willing to negotiate on the price for it, since offhand I'd have no idea what to offer for just that part.

  13. He sent me a tracking number on friday, however I have no idea what service he's shipping with. I definitely would like to believe that he actually sent it. However I could see a week going by and it "getting lost in the mail".

edit: with a little detective work, I was able to find the service he used. Said the item was accepted in HK on Friday morning. I suppose it could be worse, as long as it gets here ok.

Luckily, once EMS has the package they tend to get it to the US pretty fast. Their speed doesn't matter when the guy takes his sweet, sweeeeeet time actually taking the package to be mailed. Here's hoping you get it soon and intact, as the packaging he uses is nothing more than a cardboard sleeve wrapped around the Yamato packaging.

  14. And what was wrong with the first edition exactly? I recall only that the wings are loose (when ordinance are mounted on them) and this can easily be fixed with nail polish?

As I understand it, the issue was pretty much the loose wing joints and the hardpoints for the weapons themselves being a bit loose. Could be wrong, however. I never heard of any beyond those, let alone any kind of catastrophic failure like the VF-0* shoulders.

  15. I have the same issue with one hand, never figured out why though---I constantly compared to make sure they both had the fingers the exact same way, but one never wanted to stay in place. Except once. Don't know how, but I got it in place. For a while at least.

It's driving me nuts because, like you did, I've been comparing the one that fits in right to the one that doesn't and everything is the same. Oh well.

  16. I just got my SV-51 Nora type, and I'm wondering if there's any particular trick to getting the hands tucked into their cubby slots on the leg. In fighter mode, one sits normally in its place, but the other seems to 'spring' back out slightly, with the cover not sitting flush to the leg.

  17. I ordered from jchung too, about 10 hours before all this negative info about him turned up. I'm already sorry I had, the guy doesn't answer any emails and hasn't even given me a BS excuse in over 2 weeks. I realize shipping can take a while, but nothing after the sale except requesting shipping info, come on now. I'm debating just leaving negative feedback as that seems to jump start his ass into shipping things.

Personally? I'd probably do it if I were in your shoes. EMS is 7-10 days shipping in just about every situation. My package was post-dated 18/01/08, IE it was sent January 18th (outside the US, a lot of countries put date first instead of month when formatting a date in only numbers) 2008. The item was paid for on December 3rd, 2007. He's incredibly flaky, and only seems to make any real effort when hounded or 'harmed' by negative feedback.

  18. If so many people having issues with foreign sellers here, why we still buy from them? I rather spent more on a local toy seller or eBay seller.

People were buying from JChung because at the time he was the first person to have them in (and at a very good price, for that matter) while HLJ.com was taking forever to even acknowledge they were out, stock them, and ship them out. Not all foreign sellers are bad, but it can be one hell of a shot in the dark to order from one unfortunately. This is the first time I've had this kind of problem when buying from a Hong Kong seller, and it's definitely soured me to doing it again anytime soon.

  19. My SV-51y Nora-type from JChung finally arrived today.

No real padding on the box, just a cardboard sheath around the Yamato box. Still, no damage to the box, let alone to the toy. The post-date on the thing, however, was 1/18/08. It was paid for on December 3rd.

Can't say I'll ever want to buy something from this guy again.

  20. I loosened them, yep. Nah, no other precaution was required by my part, only that i was lead to believe the Shin was WITH fixes (words from trustworthy sources...) before it was released. No problem yet so no one gets burned by the aussie slang... yet. :p

Since I never saw it mentioned at all in the thread, how far is it ideal to loosen them? Aren't there two screws per shoulder, too? Should both be loosened, or only one pair? Hell, while I'm thinking about it, what's the best way to get the arms out in order to get at the shoulders?

  21. I thought the concensus was that it was a 50/50 with the shoulders being bung?

Mine (Shin 0A with Ghost combo) just went through another transformation cycle, and nothing broke yet. Touch wood it would've died on me by now. And i'm not scared of transforming it so i'm applying normal pressure to the shoulders when transforming as if it was a 1/48, and it's tight so i need to apply the adequate pressure. So all good here.

Had you loosened the screws when you initially got it, or any other special percaution? I mean, I'm not planning to be cruel to the Shin 0A + Ghost if I get it, and it'll spend its days most likely in Fighter mode with brief spans in Gerwalk, but I'd definitely like to know that this thing isn't going to lose its arms on me if I handle/transform it. Judging by re-reading all the threat, the timing implies that they should have the new arms. The POM thing ended up being a misunderstanding, to the lack of it on the materials listing for it doesn't say anything.
