No, Toynami did DYRL superposeables and 1/100 way back in the day, and Popbox did the DYRL Hikaru and Max figures, but that was well before the licensing issues were settled and HG was left only with Robotech specific rights.

But weren’t all the super poseable ones based off another company’s resin garage kits and the 1/100’s just copied from Banpresto

Nah, Toynami hasn't made anything new in a while. I think their only product since the updated BW settlement has been the 3" character figures from the Macross Saga. They haven't done DYRL designs in a LONG time, well before the settlement with BW.

I’m pretty sure all their Dyrl stuff was just the banpresto stuff anyway, and that was long ago and best forgotten

I have so much glue ... I plan to GUNPLA this thing. Dissolving some sprues in tamiya glue to fill gaps and then sand the thing and then only decals and panel lining :)

The only thing to receive color will be the clear parts.

There’s a few little details that could use a touch of paint though. The head lasers are  all white for instance, there’s really only a few other little things that need touch ups

man ... can't wait for mine. It'll hopefully be in my hands on Friday :)

Just make sure you got some glue, this thing has little bits that will just plop off . It’s a pretty fun build so far though

  5. Heads done as far as test fitting. There are a couple little seams on the head lasers where they connect to the housing, but like most of the seams they aren’t noticeable and actually super tiny. Not much head movement, a little back a slight bit more down and a bit of a tilt. It can torn any direction and the head lasers can point down just can’t aim straight since they don’t move inward . There’s a little detail under the clear lense piece that will look good with some chrome detailingIMG_2657.jpeg.ced750efa59dd73f8e7a9983128c63dd.jpegIMG_2658.jpeg.23650c3a941d24b0c4f7852dd3ce2aac.jpegIMG_2660.jpeg.42d5b0d2b1374798101d6ca393e24609.jpegIMG_2661.jpeg.3ad6171aa99c2ca35397fa9b1fa059c2.jpegIMG_2662.jpeg.299da04347990699681b72feed9ea749.jpeg

Heads up, Assault Suit Leynos 2 has apparently hit the market. PS5 and Switch have physical releases from PlayAsia, JP and Chinese language only. Steam and Xbox versions have a digital release with English language for menu and story.

Nice, if an English version for the switch comes up I’ll buy it. I’ve never actually played it and always wanted to

I was hoping this would be the one Rogue to rule them all but while there is no definitive face for her, this looks off.  I mean it still looks ok, just off. And is there really not another hair option? That’s kind of a deal breaker for me.

Hopefully there will be another. I still like it enough to pick one up just so Gambit can quit hitting on Psylocke. The other females had an extra hair piece if I remember correctly

Wasn't meant to be serious 🤣, but showing other variants, when the first one isn't released yet is usually a bad sign, I cross my fingers that we will see an official product soon... But they should release what's promised before showing off other versions, you can't have! Although its either love or hate Bandai, at least when the show a new product the usually don't show the next one in that line till that one is released... And when they do announce a release date they actually do, stick to it! 👍🏻

Almost none of the smaller toy companies have been able to stick to their timelines lately. It’s mostly production issues that came up around the pandemic that seem to be lingering. I just figure that if it’s not Bandai or Hasbro, expect a delay and if it’s a really small company, expect that delay to last a while

Excellent, thanks! That makes sense now, what that extra lens is that’s show in the image above. I wasn’t sure why they were showing that part separately. I think the TV and DYRL -1A heads are slightly different in design on the sides (kind of hard to tell from the line art, but the movie head always looked longer), but the alternate lens approach is about the best we can hope for.

I think the only difference is the lense cover in the movie pushes the front top part of the lense forward giving it a longer appearance IMG_2655.png.84f7a841bfe2477dc3323c71b86aef2d.pngIMG_2656.gif.49384cb3f6f523c850f295b3be34df73.gifall the lines appear to be the same, just the above images have a different kind of style to drawing.  Basically just having that longer lense cover and a side arrow decal will be all that’s needed and it looks like an easy assembly.

    Looking good 👍🏼

Yeah, it can pull off some really great poses. I’d show off the elbow movement a bit more, but every time I move it the thing pops apart. It’s not the most extreme bend, but enough to do some the job.

Definitely gonna need glue for anyone that’s gonna build one themselves

1A is a given. Armour builders fix. Easy money for Bandai.

@Big s - How's the weight so far? My Hasegawa one still remains the lightest mech I've built in around this scale.

It’s fairly light . It’s a thinner body and no heavy abs parts. It might be slightly heavier than the hasegawa battroid, but not by too much

I really hope they produce the TV VF-1A head, since they’re going to all this effort to match the stylized SDFM artwork and starting the Battroid line with the TV J and D models. I see the movie head in this image. It would be nice to have a quality model of the TV head.

As far as the 1-A it will have a flat lense for tv and the extra cover nor the dyrl version according to the picture. The extra cover bit probably just pops into the same hole that’s used for the tv version lense

  13. So I finished both legs and arms for test fits. The elbows definitely need glue or they just fall apart, so I only put one on for pics. The ball joints at the hips are tougher than the feet, but you may want to tighten those as well. Down on one knee poses will be pretty easy. I was surprised that there’s no special gimmicks, just  basic joints so far. Even the hips are just ball and poly cap, nothing special, but they’re made in a way that you can still get pretty much any pose you might wantIMG_2654.jpeg.bc3630c536e26d45285a932119c73e0b.jpegIMG_2653.jpeg.4f1dae3f34b756333f234e1fdbbe851d.jpegIMG_2652.jpeg.c3cee4a0624ac656e38969d0078ae461.jpegno seams on the shoulders, but there are on the arms but they’re in a way that will be tough to notice. The fuselage has a few seams that could use some attention.
I’ll try and do head, hands and gunpod soon

    Anyone able to help?

IMG_2651.jpeg.6a323b05e4c979b3e86b256ef9fdb538.jpegwasn’t sure if you were asking for a color picture of the back, but here’s this

Back in 1998 into 1999 I remember the huge hype for THE PHANTOM MENACE but who knew THE MATRIX would steal its thunder??

The Matrix looked way more interesting from the original previews at the time. There was also a lot of hype about the new technology going into the making of the movie, even if that eventually kinda became overdone and annoying in only a handful of years. It seemed like a game changer at the time. It still has a concept that felt different even if it really wasn’t anything totally new, just hadn’t been done to death yet.

But the major reason for its success was that it was far easier to get a chic at that time to go see Keanu than anything Star Wars. Times are changing and there’s definitely more of a female Starwars fan growth, just like with anime these days, but the power Keanu has over the ladies is still stronger than the force

Reminds me of Witchfynde. I don’t think I’ve really heard this band before. The one thing that really stands out is that bass is on full blast. I like any band that lets their bassist be heard and not drowned out.

Haven’t had the opportunity to go through the parts as much as I’d like to, but two things have caught my attention.
    1. there doesn’t appear to be the clip to attach the gun pod to the right forearm that is shown in the D battroid model.
    2. there’s no parts for the head forward/seat up that the D is displayed with, or is shown in the show w/the GPB1 configuration. Not unexpected, but still a bit of a bummer.

    8gPUBqn.png

The clip is a part that needs a hole drilled into the side of the arm, but is included with the d type. The head forward parts are not included, but might be able to be swapped in for this and modded for a single seat. They were kind of later developed parts and might be something that they include on future releases.
