here's my main problem with rated pg13 in a war movie.... there are certain things and certain situations you know WON'T happen. you know most of the good guys won't die, you know nothing will happen that will make saying the F word and S word justified. you know the violence will be dull and unconvincing. I can almost garontee this movie will be less violent than the animated TF movie. sure the cartoon was for kids. fine. those kids are grown now. if this is chronocling the original transformers, all the fans of it are adults. we want an adult story line. Our heros cant grow with us? its the same thing like when the bevis and butthead movie got made. bevis and butthead were edgy on tv. they had that "i can't beleive they did that on tv" feeling when you watched it. they were bad boys. when they made the movie. it was so pointless. bevis and butthead on the silverscreen was humdrum, didn't push anything, was boring and bland. a saturday morning cartoon about war will have to be rather soft and overly happy to not scare the bejesus out of children. a live action MOVIE about war well be nutered if its a sappy kids show. If i see a trailer with the production value shown in the teaser, and the only thing showcased in that teaser was angry violence, i want the movie to back it up with some good hardcore robot waring. Its the same with Xmen, i didn't go to the movie to see violent ass wolverine get his claw slashes artisticly and bloodlessly hidden by the camera. (and thats a comic book for kids! which was MORE violent than the movie) aaaaand thats my point, such as it is. edit for scentance fragment!

superman needed something to unload on violently. Like i was telling all my friends, i wanted to see him punch someones face off. in the earthquake scene, while he was saving people it would have been great if he could hear/see the hundreds he coudlnt' save. Superman is strong but not omnipotent, combine that with his hearing and sight, he knows he's not helping everyone. this emotional weakness would fit him alot better than the kriptonite physical weakness. send him into a rage at his enemys that are too cowardly to fight him outright so they fight the helpless public he'd be so angry we'd finally get to see superman punching some damn faces off! In the end, Lex is not a super villan, he's a super mastermind, but he himself is nothing for supes to unload on. it would have been gratuitus but there needed to be some physical enemy for superman to beat down like a giant robot or another zod. Superman can do some amazing things from what i read, and we didn't see much of it.

I want to be excited about transformers, but I'm not. It would be great if it was llike a rated R horror movie. i mean, the first half could be megatron and co ripping hell out of the humans on earth. "their bodys are so weak!" i dunno, this slew of pg13 nostalgia/geek franchise masturbatory movies just arn't doing it for me. they're all so bland and boring. even if the trailers look good, you just know the movie will not be edgy because it will be pg13 and dull.. i don't mean boring but i mean.. it won't have teeth.

On a serious note.. As a "casual" superman fan at best. i thought they did a very poor job of explaining exactly to what degree superman was affected by Kriptonite. He's standing on an island made of the stuff, yet doesn't feel a thing, untill lex (a normal guy) punches him, which sends him HURTLING backwards!! ( so supes is soo weakened by the island that he's like a child, yet can't feel the effects? huh?) So i'm thinking superman is totally screwed if he goes near the island. I didn't realize he was going under the ground to make a sheild of dirt between him and the kriptonite... honesty i don't see how some earth could protect him from the sheer tonage of the stuff. It was confusing to me as a casual super hero fan. there needed to be a scene somewhere earlyer that established his weakness and to what degree it affected him. i was confused.

A review this poorly written complaining about how Superman Returns was poorly directed... is hilarious.

Ok this might sound really dumb, but was Global killed at the end of SDF? I was going to ask if you guys thought he'd be put in charge of earth after things settled down, but then i thought.. i'm not even terribly sure what happesn after the suicide attack against the SDF. In anycase, the people of the Macross universe had to be holding him in high reguard. I know as a kid I had him up there with Optimus Prime as one of those fatherly "in charge" types.

newbie question: The SDF was NOT a zentradi ship right? so, are the supervision soldiers big like the zentradi? if so are they yet another extremely human like race? is the supervision army a branch of the zentradi? or a seperate race all together?

ok, the fact that it's a obvious warship granted.. don't you still find it at least odd that a newly unified world woudln't atleast make it an armed exploration vessle? all of a sudden we have a ship that will be able to trot around the solar system with ease, scientific exploration had to be at least somewhere on peoples minds. In the end if you really think about it, any civilization that can "lose" a ship of the SDF's caliber isn't going to be detered by us having it. It is kind of nieve to think that we could rebuild a single war ship and be even entertaininly threatening. I guess what i'm really asking is if it could be anything besides a war ship, what would you make it into?

didn't wanna look through 57 pages, but here is (i think) bumblebee here is a much bigger version but who knows how long it will be up.

valkyries are so cool when they have huge armor they're kick ass and can blow everything up, stupid destroids can't turn in a circle fast enough there for just like in gundamn they will get blown up by faster sleeker robots just like in bubblegum crisis. valkyries are so fast no one can even turn fast enough to shooot them so they are the coolest. i mean best. the destroids can't even turn fast enough to shoot a valkyrie who can shoot its gun and is so fast it can return to base reload refuel and come back and keep killing EVERYONE with impunity because its SO FAST NO ONE CAN KILL IT. just like in indiana jones the valkyrie is the best for every task because.. if it needs to go faster it can just transform in to a jet, and then NO ONE can shoot it, how much faster is a jet than a robot? a lot. even the qrau just like in evangelion its sleek and super fast, the spartan can't even fly so how could it ever shoot down a qrau? the valk or qrau would just fly up next to it and shoot it from the sides or the top or the back or underneath or infront and the spartan will just be slowly turning around. just like in starwars.

I only disagree because i could swear there was a part where bretai or exedol specificly says to not get involved at all with miclones. i took that as "lets get the F out of here before they do to us" maybe they would have destroyed the ship. actually though, i guess either way they would have been exposed to our culture and the end result would have been rain of death. i just could swear that exedol wanted to leave the miclones alone, and bretai was going against standing orders by observing the miclones. perhaps the only thing the miclones coudl have done to save themselves was not rebuild the ship at all.

I do find it intresting, politically, that after so much work to unify the world, the SDF was made into a battle ship. Clearly the ship was abandoned. In space, and apandoned ship could arguably drift for many times the life span of a civilization with out hitting something. I don't know much about warp/spacefold but it could have easily been in fold for millenia for all the humans know. I know in real life, there would be at least a push to have it refitted as an exploration, ambasador ship or something. I mean we finally unify the planet.. so we can build a battle ship? kind of ironic. even more ironic is in the end, had the weapons systems been removed, the zentradi may well have ignored us if the ships weapons hadn't gone off. they definately would have thought it odd that we'd had dismantled and rebuilt a gunship as a pleasure boat, but i think they would have simply followed orders to "stay away from miclones at all costs" had we not shown any capacity fight them

I guess it makes sence to have the commanders more resillient, I bet they're harder to make, and who knows, bretai could be hundreds of years old, maybe they can't even make their class anymore?? who knows, i dont' think its covered anywhere. but in theory, even if bretais ship was destroyed they could recover him and put him in a new one if he survived the battle. pretty neat.

I dont' think they'll be too small, from what i could tell, they're only a little smaller than other kaiyado evas, Just don't put them all next to vastly bigger/more expencive figures and i think they'll look just fine.

I try Lurkers posts every now and again, but realisticly i find something to argue with in every other line of his text .. and there is so much.. so i just ignore his posts for the most part.

You know thats a very good point, and one i'd never considered. It's too bad we never got to see a Spartan go "chewbaca" on a Zent and rip him limb from limb, would have been pretty sweet. You have to think too... its not very likely that the 'commander' of the zents is MORE powerful phisically than the grunts. I bet the soldiers are even stronger. Getting back on politcs kind of... I wonder how the Zent rank structure works, with that point above, i really wonder what the physical abilitys of the zents are and why they would make a commander so resilliant. If bretai was really the strongest physically in the fleet, i wonder if thats how he became commander? if so, i wonder what the zents would think of the humans structure, clearly Captain Global wasn't the strongest guy on the Macross.

for 60ish bucks they'd BETTER be better. Imho how ever the SoC's dont' have the gnarly look of the anime. they're too upright, their necks too short. yadda yadda
