  1. 2 cents worth...

Hated it in IMAX 3D, its the sort of movie that doesnt really benefit from 3D and you can focus in more detail without it.

Planets going boom can't be seen from other solar systems as it happens. Light just isnt fast enough.

Ren and Rey are the polar opposites of each other, and she is Lukes daughter which is why she is also so strong in the force even untrained.

The Stare scene was so long to demonstrate just how strong she was as she resisted Rens probing then realized she was resisting and became even more focused.

She is waiting for her "family" to return for her because Luke would have planted that memory in her mind. To stay, never leave, and wait, whether he would return or not was irrelevant as long as she remained hidden from everyone and herself.

Ren is a raging brat because hes trying to live up to Lukes and the Solos expectations in training and snapped and failed and went dark. As he said "ahhh the daughter I have heard so much about" he is on a mission to be no.1 and the more he grasps, the more he fails, the more he rages. Then Rey arrives and matches him with no training, therefore he simply can not BE No.1 while she exists.

Another clue to Reys origins is the fact she has an innate affinity with machines, same as Anakin. She can look at and understand machines quickly and repair them as a result, even though never having seen it before.

Snoke will be neither Sith nor Jedi but something older.

Having Melee weapons that can repel a Saber has been long overdue given the Greivous bodyguards had them and Mandalorian Armour is "supposed" to be resistant to them as well.

Phasma needed more action. It should have been her swinging the power mace against Finn and not Joe Random Trooper.

The movie also hints at Clones still being about as an option to the Stolen Baby Troopers. Hoping the 501st are still about too.

Imagine if Finn is the stolen baby of Calrissian...

  2. Thats come up good for a quick job!

Just because I'm an idiot and like loading on the work, I had an idea after seeing one of the boys from the unit dual wielding airsoft carbines during the Xmas function shootout at the local Ex Mental Institute Paintball place, Asylum. He was with his back to a wall on a corridor corner, both rifles held upright pointing up at the ceiling grinning like an idiot while the OP force team were hammering rounds down the hallway...

Reminded me of the scene from the old activision game Heavy Gear... link below, go to 0.41 to see the moment.

I'm working on a dual wielding Fighter mode VF-1 and had the idiotic idea of building a scene with a Battroid version of my Dual wielding VF hugging a street corner wall of a building thats getting shot up. The building will have beam cannon damage and feature flickering room lighting a partially collapsed wall facing. I may include a discarded ruined Super pack in the street likes its been dumped in a hurry by the VF, with exposed wiring and internals and maybe if I can do it, a lighting effect to look like an internal fire or sparking.

    Xmas project...

Link for a diorama building lighting project. Liking the lens angle on the LEDs they use!

  3. I have been thinking about a similar setup. First you can't definitively seal the model with the battery inside because sooner or later you will have to replace it. For the switch I thought of making a 3D printed battery cage with a thin and flexible tab where you can glue a micro magnet. To close this flexible tab acting like a switch, you would need to use an outside magnet too, which would be more or less visible.

This is how far I went with this idea. Don't know if it can help for your project!

Derex, that falcon looks really great!

Try Induction charging for a battery setup. You'll never need to swap out a battery then. The model just has to be placed on an induction charger to recharge the cells.

  4. They arent in the files. As a soldier and a Contractor I'm used to the variants on standard weapons. Carbine versions of the main assault rifles for Armoured crew and Transport Drivers, PDWs for Pilots and aircrew etc. Figured and twin cannon Valk would look reasonably SAS/Spec Forces.

Just trying to sketch up an ammo bin/clip for the side of the Carbine as the shortened barrel would mean the ammo would be external now. The carbines could ride in the stowed position on the OUTSIDE cutouts of the arms, so side by side in Fighter mode, as those cutouts are already molded into the arms.

In the meantime todays project was working on finishing up the wiring on the two Strike cannon packs and working out how the wiring will all join up in the airframe body AND to the socket for the Launch Arm to plug into.

I DID come across a reference to the Quad Beam Cannon Strike pack in the VF manual

  5. Building the Beam Cannons on a Strike pack last night, fitting up an LED into the targetter above the barrels and thought... why doesnt the VF-1 have twin cannons on both sides?

    Now it does!

As well as 6 Reaction Warheads.

You can never have too much overwhelming firepower.

  6. Carrier Deck time...

So... these are the resin lenses for the Neopixels in the deck.

Servo controller, translates my on/off inputs into ramp raising with the ability to set the start and end movement ranges and the speed of movement (the most important part to have it SLOWLY raise up realistically).

  7. I just hope they are what people expect from a resin kit. I packaged up and sent two out today. I've got tomorrow off, so that'll help get some stuff done. Hopefully another two done or more. I had 3 wisdom teeth pulled today, so I couldn't do too much. Even as I write now, I'm in serious pain, and can't move my jaw (really difficult wisdom tooth left me sore).

haha dont join the Army then, they pull them just for kicks! had 4 done under orders when I first joined... so much fun. Codeine... embrace it.

As far as I remember I have been down by the pain a whole day after the removal of mines. I hope chiurgical acts have evolved and you get less pain now!

    Keep the great work!

naa its still a pretty violent and brutal act. Especially if you have ones that arent fully exposed.

  8. Here is a Super pack nozzle with a shinier Alclad finish. Next to it is a Neopixel Mini LED unit.

    SAM_8127_zpst1q8sj7l.jpg

The lens in the bottom of the nozzle is made with drops of clear Araldite clear 5min epoxy resin.

So... the neopixel is a 4K LED, built in microprocessor to handle the commands from the Adruino board, resistors and the circuit board. All in one tiny package. They are also blindingly bright!

  9. The Neopixels are brilliant to work with as they come mounted on the board ready to go. The board gets trimmed on a dremel slightly so it fits tightly into the nozzle holders on the Hasegawa kits and you get zero light bleed as they are directional LEDs. So all the light is focused forwards and not out to the sides like a conventional 5mm round LED.

You also get access to 4K colour so any colour can be displayed. Just type in the RGB codes same as you would in Photoshop and away you go.

Next VF will get polished mirrored surfaces on the insides of the jet exhausts to throw more light and more reflections. The one in the photos has an Alclad II matt black finish which was a mistake.

  10. I've sorted getting the part. Thanks all.

Was messing round with the tinting as I have already tried a version of the tinted Future method with great success. I used a mix of yellow and red food grade colouring and a few drops of Modelmaster Gold Acryl in a bottle of Future to tint a canopy in the Gold F16 HARM style. Worked really well. I assumed I'd be able to do even better with the Alclad 2 Tint... I was wrong.

So technically you still have the canopy but in liquid form.

yeah... I guess if I had a mold I could poor the Thinners in and hope it evaporated to leave a nice shiny new canopy but...

.. well you got to have dreams I guess.

It makes for a great magic trick though
