Definitely magnets. And it's fun fighting the tiny buggers when you go to mount the second one and the magnetic field from the first one keeps attracting it or causing it to flip

Like the 2 Queadlunns too and the Gundam sniper thing taking aim mid street.
Meanwhile...
Made a quick acrylic template for a 1/72 Elevator on a Nimitz Class Carrier...
and the VF1 Production line is back in full swing
3 x VF-1, 1 VF-1D likely to become a Scorpions VF-1EA and a VT-1 Trainer.
Note... just finished cutting out a 1/144 Elevator deck piece too for the GiMix and F-Toys Valks

She's off to Rome then home to Germany in 2 weeks for a visit and even offered to grab any modelling stuff I want there. Guessing whaty she wants will be huge in return!
-
So I got my butt into gear and starting building...
Another Carrier deck...
Another coupe of VF-1Js and VF-1Ds and a VT-1...
Then found I needed some French blue for the VF-213 machine and some Insignia Red for the Navy Trainer scheme and the Diamondbacks CAG plane... some how... its a trap I think... but somehow the other half agreed to letting me buy more paint (I have a Shite load of it already) so off we went.
The sense of impending doom only increased when she smiled and acted all happy...
I ended up spending $140 at Modelair (thankfully open on a Sunday!) and spent nearly 1 hour in the shop nosing through all their stuff... she didn't complain once and even had a good look herself AND found the paints I was after...
Once home she left me to build, complaint free, we had dinner and she then asked to watch Topgun with me....

Yeah same as above as I have 10 VF-1s to do, 3 VF-1Ds and 5 VT-1s
Planning on painting them in batches of 5 at a time as they will all have a base coat for Light Ghost grey and Ghost Grey before getting individual Unit and CAG markings

hmmmm excellent! Finally a chance to add to my growing collection of real world sqdn markings on the VF4!

On the work bench today between getting the Tuono ready for the Aprilia Hampton Downs Trackday... a new Carrier deck, a VF-1D, VF-1J and a VT-1
And over twenty present day Squadron markings to start wrapping my VF-1s in

Such a pain in the ass model to build...but I still love them!

Making 3 more

-
So suggestions... what do you think a display like this would be worth? Thinking of doing another 3, one a scorpions vf1ea, another a Rattlers vf1j or s interceptor armef fighter and one a vf1j bomber armed plane of the swordsmen. It woukd use up on italeri deck, one fujima flight deck crew or a shapeways ewuivalent, one fujima ordnance kit, one hazegawa call and a pilot or 2

weird... especially with the Bandai one just released. Getting this one

Just got this in the mail. It's not all Macross, but in the bottom right is a nice ol' 1/72 YF-29 resin kit (recast from a very limited-production conversion kit for the Bandai VF-25).
The resin quality is quite stellar for being a recast. I wish I could remember who the original sculptor was; I know E2046 makes and sells recasts of the original kit, but I got mine from shop2000, which includes the necessary VF-25 parts as resin recasts as well, making their version a complete kit.
and the E2046 version is SOOOOO bad mines still sitting in a corner while I try to decide of I'd be better off getting a Bandai VF-25 and just using the resin bits needed.

It's awesome to see everyone's collection, Grayson 72 you definitely have one of the largest collections I know of and I love the list you made. You mentioned how much you spent so far in your message to me, and I can believe! Great looking stage coach as well, your friend is very lucky.
I've been spending most of my time collecting, but I really want to start building as well. I used to do everything from Tamiya 1/16 full option tanks (built/painted) to R/C balsa wood Super Chipmunks & a B17 Flying Fortress, Japanese gas powered helicopters, hovercraft, R/C cars/bikes to every conceivable type of plastic model. I've never tried my hand with resin kits, but I hope to soon.
Here are some newly acquired resin kits:
1.) Studio HalfEye 1/100 VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie Perfect Variable
2.) Studio HalfEye 1/100 VF-4G Lightning III Valkyrie Perfect Variable
3.) Yellow Submarine 1/100 VF-1S/A Strike Transformable
4.) Project AG 1/100 VF-1J Armored Gerwalk
5.) Experten YF-21 Omega One With Fold Booster High-Comical Transformable
6.) CoryDoras Works 1/144 VF-3000 Crusader Valkyrie
7.) TECT 1/144 YF-19 Valkyrie
8.) TECT 1/144 VF-19 Grade Up #6
9.) TECT 1/144 VF-19 High Grade Up Parts #11
10.) Yellow Submarine 1/144 VF-1S/A Strike Fighter
11.) Yellow Submarine 1/144 VF-1S/A Strike Fighter
12.) Yellow Submarine 1/144 VF-1S/A Strike FighterI'll have to dig them up but I recently got sent some 1/144 resin ghosts

cool idea but... in order to work for a canopy you'd have to mount those hinges on the outside surface, otherwise due to the thickness of the canopy acrylic, if attached to the inside, when opened it would bind up.
-
nope, what are they?
-
I can send you a canopy off any 1/72 Hasegawa macros kit to build a template on if I can get them back
-
actually the blue bottle, Micro Set, is useful for removing them as well. Directions for decal removal are on the back.
-
include the 1D canopy and I'm interested
