Here's a bigger one thanks to ulnhyrr of Gundamwatch: It does look kinda like the PG (the same way the MK II does). Hope the base has another gimmick, not just the connecting thing. HLJ already has the Z in preorder.

Is the series any good? The designs look original.

I found Victory difficult to get into though, it took a good twenty eps. Also, i agree wholeheartedly that Zeta is waaay over-rated. Frankly, I thought it was pretty crappy - and to this day I don't get why it's considered to be so amazing. I much preferred Gundam X and even Seed over it. I will admit that Destiny was worse though, which given how much I was boosting the Seed universe is saying a LOT. 334030[/snapback] I’m liking Z thus far but there have been some boring parts. I specially enjoy the quality of the animation and characters. I prefer 08th Team and SEED’s story though. Turn A I’ve only seen a few episodes but find it a great shift in the Gundam formula. X after three episodes looks really fun and V has very good potential (four episodes on this one). The thing that pisses me of about Destiny is that I gave it the benefit of the doubt almost to the end, I even didn’t mind all that reused footage that much. But by the time you see that they’ve wasted two of the last 5 episodes on the Meer storyline, one of witch is mainly a recap, you brace yourself for impact (but not such a crappy ending). They could have pulled it of if they had scraped the last two recaps and had taken care of Meer faster. Ten whole episodes to finish the Logos thing and finally start and finish the Destiny Plan arc. More things happen in the 08th Team in ten episodes and they didn’t have 40 episodes to develop the characters and storyline. Those recaps tried to give some insight on some characters but they where really just fillers so they could have more time to write and animate. When you have so little time you must look at the whole. In the end Meer was the only character that got an “ending†in the sense that every other player of the story is left just hanging there.

As for Mwu, they should have animated a burnt up dessicated corpse smacking into Archangel's bridge window the first time he died to really drive the point home that he's not ever ever coming back. Look on the bright side, if they are OK with editing stuff out then someday they might edit out good chunks of Destiny and finish it properly. Good choice of medicine, I'm at 40 and things sure pick up. And I at least know I'm not getting 2 recaps and a rushed ending in any of the remaining 10 episodes. My mind can take most of the Mwu thing. They screwed one of the greatest deaths in fiction history (at least IMO), but fiction means nothing is truly dead. What pisses me of is that they revive him for nothing really special, just so you can get more Mwu. Didn’t they have a new cast to develop? This writing the series as it goes sure sucks. Hope the next Gundam has a manga with a plot behind it first (at least if Fukada does it).

Anybody know what the japanese are saying about GSD? They are the ones with the last word regarding the future of the franchise anyways.

Well, Rick's face isn't pink and he doesn't look bad. But forget how they look in the comic, every artist draws differently. I've seen hundreds of versions of things so established as Wolverine or Spider-man going from classic to manga knockoff (like in this comic) and everything in between. The things you might recognize in the future animation are the hairstyles and even these can change from comic to cartoon. Uniforms can also end up looking differently in the animation (remember that comic artists tend to draw spandex by nature).

EDIT: BTW, wouldn't it been easier and less cheap looking (if the theory of closing for censorship is right) to just close the Destiny threads? They've had much time to see that people didn't like how things were going so they could have mowed down the "episode 50" threads just when they started (or before, when we started having recap-rama). It shows lack of foresight.

Or even a "what if..." story like Gundam X. Astray should be easier for them (they already have the plot, so no space for another Destiny plot trainwreck). BTW, is the Astray manga any good? I just like the design. The 08th MS Team had a very good war story feel going so maybe a Zeon version of it would work.

I kinda regret not getting it instead of the normal Strike. The pinks aren't as dumb looking as in the anime, plus the inner frame looks like it has a lighter tone to it and that royal thingy sticker in the chest looks really sweet. The Sky Grasper also has different tones.

Well, Fukada did get me to watch SEED after seeing a few episodes of Destiny and then get into all the clasic Gundam stuff by Tomino. Too bad money and time were the main things responsible for losing all the potential Destiny had. If they made a third part, who would be the bad guys? There's little Atlantic Federation left, no Logos, Zaft has gotten it's ass kicked by two ships, so who's left? Orb? They are now the dominat power. All hail Cagalli The only thing left is to have another faction made out of forces that wanted the Destiny Plan (Shinn included). What ever they do (Astray, UC series...) let the team responsible for it be rested.

The episode was just about getting Rey's, Luna's, Shinn's, Minerva's, Destiny Plan's, Dullindal's ass kicked (in that order). No room left for other stuff. EDIT: Other stuff not related to the main storyline that is... Well who knows, maybe all that talk in the last part of the episode was about the weather. Have to wait for the sub.

Are the sitting pilot figures that come with the PG Sky Grasper and the Strike the same or do they have different sculps? I'll get the PG Aile someday but I want to paint my PG Strike's pilot as Mwu (unless the sculp that comes with the PG Sky Grasper resembles him more).

Just saw the RAW... They left some of the japanese comercials in . Do other RAWs have the comercial not taken out? This was the best surprise of the episode This ending was so... anticlimatic. It's like the oposite of SEED, where you were "Oh my god they killed X!" Shinn has gone completely down the drain along with Luna. The little bastard didn't stop his attack on Athrun when Luna got in between!! Athrun saved her from being killed by Shinn but later she's OK and all happy to have the cry baby in her arms !! Damn it woman, that sadistic whining bastard doesn't give a rats ass about you if he doesn't mind killing you to get to his opponent Well, you can argue it was due to the high tension that Shinn lost control over himself. The Dom's made it YAY!! (don't know why they bothered introducing them for such little screen time though)

Thanks Kalvasflam and you too Panon. I'll skip ZZ for now. Even the Zeta Gundam has had it's bacon saved more than a few times. In Z the über characters are the ones that live to fight (or die) another day. Some of the designs are a bit goofy (the conehead MS for example) but that 80's animation is gorgeous. Speaking of Z, Amuro and Char's Counterattack, do you need to watch ZZ to understand Char's C? I'm more than halfway done with Z (great mecha designs ), but after reading so much against ZZ I think I'll pass for now (I have C'sC in my hands already but not ZZ). Would I miss much of the Amuro/Char relation skipping ZZ? Back to Destiny: I'm affraid Ep 50 is going to be to much cramped full of stuff. They should have saved at least two episodes for the ending so as to not have it feel rushed. All that recap...

I lost interest in Luna when her sister became the bold and daring character and she the flowerpot next to a leading character. Hope Luna makes a comeback. I'll keep Gladys as my favourite Destiny character. What ever happens, at least half of my dream came true (Stella's bloated carcas should be reemerging by now )
