  1. I went on a quest to find a stand that did this that was not the Tamashi stand due to the absurdity of the price at this stage.

I found some Aliexpress specials, but we'll see if they actually work. Ten of them were half the price of a single Tamashi one O_o. Stay tuned next for next month once I get them.

  2. OK, sneak peek at the next MOC. Hoping there are some other crotchety old fellows around that recognize this. It is from 1997, lol. There are others out there similar to this and they inspired it, but at this point, I re-engineered everything on it, part count is tripled, so I will say there some out there, but this one is mine. Waiting to take better shots as I'm waiting on some missing parts to wrap it up. I already have ideas on further improving it. The arsenal for it is next. Last shot is the whole cabinet to get a sense of scale and to shamelessly show off my shrine to my favorite shoot-em-ups :P.

Kudos to @Test_Pilot_2 for courageously plowing into this project. It has been my hope since I originally posted my model here back in 2020 that other MWers would attempt their own versions, and it pleases me greatly to see that desire come to fruition so brilliantly. I'm both honored and humbled that he committed to it so wholeheartedly, and I hope it will inspire others to do so as well. Thanks @Test_Pilot_2for sharing your work, for your kind words here, and for all the behind-the-scenes conversations. It's been a pleasure getting to know you and share our love of sci-fi and LEGO. Cheers for diving in on my crazy design; may it be a fun and unique addition to your collection.

Thanks M'Kyuun, you're an awesome dude for helping me through the process. I PM'd you some more images and the work to replace parts to find that sweet tension spot is ongoing.

I moved stuff about in the cabinets in hopes to get this one in with the rest. I'm a fighter-mode guy, but I think this one needs to be Gerwalk all the way.

I'm excited to post my next MOC here, too :). 1️⃣🙋‍♂️

  4. I've been quietly at work, with M'Kyuun's help, building my own Variable Glaug. Here are some in-progress images. It's mostly done with some polish remaining. I had a mishap while transforming her into fighter mode, so you guys will have to wait for that :P. I'll be making her nameplate sometime in the next couple of days and adding her to my Macross cabinet (or above it) soon. This has been alot of fun to build. I decided to color it similar to the Officer's Glaug. M'Kyuun's design is spectacular and mind-boggling in its transformation mechanics. It is not a parts-former, aside from having to swap junction positions for the legs when going into fighter mode. Truly a marvel to work with.

Another thing I need to do is seek better parts with greater friction for the joints, which is fun considering that requires me to go fish for parts at the local stores :). Once that's complete it'll be much more solid. It could also be that I'm doing things wrong, too :P.

If I wasn't seeing this first-hand, I'd call BS on this... After watching this and the Samurai Showdown remake, including added the largest sprites from the Neo Geo that were originally cut out in the Genesis version tells me there was plenty of room leftover for Genesis titles to push the envelope. The SS video also showed Marvel Super Heroes running, including a full-size Juggernaut.

My original Genesis, Nomad, and Saturn are all sitting in the other room chilling.

  6. I haven't seen or I missed mention of this little gem here...

Taito Egret 2 Mini. Works beautifully for a bar countertop arcade. Currently working on getting more stuff on it by strange and unusual means.

I also picked up the controller with the mini trackball and wheel for science.

Get it on sale though it can be pricey.

Massive thanks to each of you for your compliments. More than most, your knowledge and passion for Macross adds weight to your praise, and I'm touched and humbled. I hope I inspire.

@rematronIf you ever have an opportunity to go to BrickCon, a huge AFOL organized LEGO convention now being held at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue in the fall, I generally attend every year and bring all my transforming LEGO models. It'd be my great pleasure to meet a fellow MWer and perhaps show off a MOC or two. 😁

Means a lot to me. My VV-1 is a custom design with obvious inspiration taken from the V-22 Osprey. I worked on realizing it for about a decade, but that helicopter cockpit piece became the nexus around which I was finally able to bring my vision to physical fruition. I consider it my magnum opus. As such, compliments are especially meaningful and you have my gratitude.

The Osprey is really cool, my mind is blown at all of it frankly. It's like you took my childhood shenanigans with my jank lego robots and realized them - but as anti-jank. Full transparency, I'm trying to solve for how you built the Glaug since I'm pretty sure that is the only way to get a physical version of it for my collection and the fighter mode looks fantastic.

I'm struggling to process how you fit that much functionality into such a tight package. I don't want to digress much further from Bandai's YF-22 here, but as nice (and controversial) as the 22 is, your Glaug really stole the show for me.

  8. Managed to get my order in at ShowZStore. While partially a partsformer, the dicast and size make this an insta-buy for me. Given the complexity of the SHE version, I dunno if they could ever do one with significant dicast without it being eleventybillion dollars.
