  1. Great work, Bounty Hunter! I love the building and painting work, maybe the weathering is not perfect. Let allow me to describe you what I usually do: after completing the painting, I spray by airbrush a transparent clear (the same I suppose you used for the decal) in order to protect the below colors. I make the weathering work (panel lines included) using oil colors. I don’t like black or dark gray, I prefer mix the Bruno Van Dyck (a very dark brown) with a bit of black. This mix has to be thinned and, after that, you can put it on the model only on the spots where it is necessary. If you exaggerate the quantity or the mix comes outside the area involved, you can easily delete it using a clean brush wet with thinner. I hope what above is understandable, it is not easy for me to explain in English language. Of course, that is what I do, it isn’t necessarily the best. Other modellers work differently and better. You only have to try and I find your way.
  2. Thank you again my friends! Ter Ter, the Hasegawa kits don’t allow to move the control surfaces (flaps, etc.). It is necessary to separate them from the wings and tails using a cutter, rebuild them and place the new surfaces with the orientation desired. I made that both for this VF-0S and the Sv-51 showed in another discussion. If you made the cutting work with great careful, it will be not necessary to rebuild new control surfaces. You’ll be able to use the same cut parts provided that, with putty and plastic card, you remake perfectly their perimeter. It’s easier to do that than explain it by words… p.s. The VF-0S showed today in the home page is beautiful! I like very much the alternative liveries!
  3. Dear All, thank you very much again for the great attention that you are granting to my SV-51. Here attached you can find a Zip file with some big size pictures of it. I'm not a professional photographer, so I don't think that the quality is better than the pictures already posted here but that is the best I can do in order to reply to your request. Ciao! SV-51.zip
  4. What incredible, beautiful work!! I'd like to make a model like that...! Thanks for sharing!
  5. 1/72 MACROSS OPTION DECAL SETS CODES: 65760, 65766 & 65757. Dear all, I’m checking my kits because I want to build a new VF-1 model and I picked up the decal sets bought several years ago. I think they are very well done, the inside sheets mainly. These decal sets are now not available on the market but, if you are interested in them, you can see them in my blog: http://nonsolopanzer.com/2014/08/05/172-macross-option-decal-sets-codes-65760-65766-65757-2/ If someone is able to read the notes in Japanese related to the VF profiles, a translation in English is well accepted! Thanks
  6. Thanks very much again!!! Dear PetarB, in 2006 I painted my VF-0S with Testors enamel colors but at this moment I prefer to use Mr Hobby/Gunze acrylic paints. For the Sv-51 I used them.
  7. Thank you very much! I’m very happy to know you loved my Sv-51! Dear Chyll2, I’m sorry but this is the second and, at this moment, last Macross model I build. In any case, after summer holidays, I’m going to start the work for a VF-1J “Super Valkyrie” in an unusual version. It will be a pleasure share with you a long and accurate WIP!
  8. Dear all, after my precedent VF-0S, the second (and last) “Macross” model built be me was the SV-51γ piloted by D.D. Ivanov in “Macross Zero”, the prequel produced on 2002 to the original series. The SV-51γ, drawn by Shoji Kawamori, resembles to a Russian Sukhoi-27. It is the first variable fighter to see combat operations and was deployed by Anti-U.N. forces during the world war started for the control of the extraterrestrial spaceship crashed on Earth. The Hasegawa kit has a level equal to its historical models and it is quite easy to built. Only little modifications was carried out by me: the details of the landing gears was increased studying the real pictures of Su-27, all control surfaces were moved in arrest position and I rebuilt the four sensor panels for each side of the airplane front. I painted my SV-51γ by airbrush with different tones of black and dark gray. I try to reach the best color variation of the dark tone in order to increase the charm of this model. No particular weathering work was made in reason of the dark base color and considering that we are talking about an operational fighter. At last, the model was fixed on a very high base in order to avoid the squashing sensation typical of any airplane diorama. Let me say that I’m very proud of this model that I judge better than my precedent VF-0S mainly for the great airbrush work made on it. In any case, I think the duo VF-0S / SV-51 is very attractive thanks to the opposite colors of the fighters and the different situations where they are represented (VF-0S in movement on the runway and SV-51 parked for maintenance). If you are interested in this model, please, visit my blog (under construction): http://nonsolopanzer.com/2014/08/01/sv-51%CE%B3-172-hasegawa-model-kit/ or www.nonsolopanzer.com Thanks ANDREA
  9. Some new picture for you : [ Thanks a lot! ANDREA (Italy)
  10. Sorry John!! I made a stupid error and I confused the first name! Of course, you are the artist wanted! I’ll read and check the link you have kindly signaled me. I hope to understand what is, at this moment, available and purchasable. John, please, a little information: what kind of material you use as base of your sculpting work? Wood? Thanks and sorry for my mistakes! ANDREA (Italy)
  11. Unfortunately I’ve not a lot of free time for modeling but I’m an enthusiast modeler and a great fan of Macross saga. In the case Jasmine Models should reissue these sets, I’m sure I’ll buy at least: 5 X 272003 VALKRIE cockpit 5 X 272004 VF-1 Intaker and Nozzle I think the quality of these two sets are remarkable and able to ameliorate your model as the Hasegawa’s PE set can not do. Thank for your efforts, Otihconip! ANDREA (Italy)
  12. Arrgghh!! I’m late me too… Are other Spartans available? Furthermore, I’m new in this forum and I’d like to know if there is a catalogue of the George’s creations and a way to know what is still available for a purchase. Can someone help me? Thank you!! ANDREA (Italy)
  13. Dear All, Let me say thank you for placing my VF-0S in the MacrossWorld Facebook page! Unfortunately Im not able to reply to the comments inserted there, so I would answer here to Nigel Hill who says: Beautiful, except that it is filled in behind the wing at the rear so the wings would not be able to sweep back. Is that normal or just a mod on this build? Dear Nigel, you are right and you have remarked one of the worst defect of my model. When I made it, no additional parts were available and I chose to close the space necessary for the movement of the wings. Im not proud of this choice but, at that time, I thought it was the best one in order to hide the void inside the fuselage. Now I would proceed differently. I'm very sorry but I hope you all like my VF-0S despite this default.
  14. Dear All, Thank you very much for your comments about my Vf-0S!! I’m very touched! Let me say thank you also to Coronadlux and Electric Indigo for their visit to my blog. It is under construction so, please, suggest me any possible amelioration. Yes, Electric Indigo, the Sv-51 that you have seen was made by me. It is the second and, at this moment, last Macross model built by me. I think it is better that this Vf-0S (it was more recent than this last one) and I’m going to show you it very soon. Have a nice day! ANDREA (Italy)
  15. I’d like to have this set me too… Five sets as minimum! I contacted Jasmine Model one month ago and they confirmed me the set is not available. Supposing there are a lot of people interested in it, I can not understand the reason because they not produce again this set. I’m sure it should have more customers than the VF-1 in PE parts! Jasmine Model, please, helps us! :-) ANDREA Italy
  16. Dear all, I’m new here and I joined this forum because I’m a great fun of “Macross” since I was a kid. I’m a military modeler and, of course, I’m very excited every time Hasegawa announces a new model kit dedicated to “Macross” saga! The first model I built (2006), was the VF-0S piloted by Roy Focker in “Macross Zero”, the prequel to the original series produced on 2002. The Hasegawa kit has a level equal to its historical models and it is quite easy to built. Only little modifications was carried out by me: the frontal landing gear was turned on the left and I moved the control surface as if the plane was moving on the runway. I painted my VF-0S by airbrush with different tones of light gray. An hard weathering work was made by me using oil colors but I suppose to have exaggerated the number and the intensity of the drips of dirty. At least considering that we are talking about an operational fighter. At last, the model was fixed on a very high base in order to avoid the squashing sensation typical of any airplane diorama. I know that my VF-0S is not perfect but let me say that I’m very proud of this model that won several awards included a bronze medal at the World Model Expo 2014 in Stresa (Italy). I hope you like this model and let me say thank you for all works present in this forums because they are beautiful and a great source of inspiration. If you are interested in my models, please, visit my blog (under construction): www.nonsolopanzer.com or http://nonsolopanzer.com/2014/07/22/vf-0s-phoenix-172-hasegawa-model-kit/ Thanks ANDREA Italy
